Addiction care for clients with dual disorders in Mental health centers for persons with severe chronic mental illness

Background: According to the standards of the Mental Health Center services, their function is integrated care for persons with a dual diagnosis (MZČR, 2021). Objectives: The goal of the work is to describe and understand how and by whom care is provided to clients in the field of addiction in selected centers. Methods: The practical part of the work consists of semi-structured interviews with workers from 15 (52%) different centers involved in the care of clients with a dual diagnosis in the field of addiction, processed using the method of thematic analysis. Main results: Respondents from 87% of the examined centers had some theoretical or practical training in the field of addiction. Addictologists worked in 40% of the examined centers, all of them in the position of social worker. Those in the center fulfill the role of specialists in working with people with a dual diagnosis. Most centers combine different treatment models. If the client is indicated for residential addiction treatment, they apply the model of successive treatment. They widely use the parallel treatment model. If necessary, they integrate elements of addiction treatment into the care provided. Applying the profession of an addictologist in selected social services focused on working with the family in Prague

Background: Addiction in various forms is a part of people's lives, often accompanying them throughout their lives. The impacts of addiction are not limited to just the individual for whom addiction is a problem but also affect other family members. Therefore, it is desirable to work with other family members and close individuals using addictive substances when working with addiction clients, seeking together a way to manage the difficult situation. Addiction clients appear in various types of services, including social services, and it is precisely in these services that an addiction specialists with their transdisciplinary theoretical knowledge and skills could contribute to improving the life situations of families seeking social counseling, shelters, or utilizing socially activating services for families with children. Possibilities and limits of the work of an addictologist in the Prison Servise of the Czech Republic

Background: Substance use among people commiting crime has been an important issue for a long time. Since 2016, the Czech Prison Service (VSČR) has established the position of an addictionologist to provide expert addiction care in prisons using the same interventions and procedures that are used in civilian facilities. The position is classified under health services, but is expected to work closely with correctional and detention services. The conditions of work depend on each prison specifics. Aims: The research describes actual situation of addictologists employed in the Prison Service of the Czech Republic. Using sub-objectives, the author tried to find out the characteristics of people working as addictologists in the Prison Service, to describe their activities in the Prison Service system and to find out the addictologist's view on the perceived possibilities and limits of this position. The field of addictology is still looking for its position, helpful could be creating a document defining competencies of this profession that would bring transparency in practice and in the context of other related disciplines. The design of competencies of a pregraduate student of addictology can serve as a basis for defining professional competencies. Aims: The aim of the thesis is to create a design of competencies of the pregraduate of the study program addictology. Possibilities of employing the profession of addictologist in pedagogical-psychological counselling centres: pilot study of the Ústí region

Background: The region of Ústí nad Labem has long been at the forefront of the prevalence of substance abuse; it is likewise specific for the occurrence of other negative social phenomena. The studies carried out in the region of Ústí nad Labem point to the fact that addictology issues are a current problem that deserves special attention as the target group of pedagogical-psychological counselling is children who consider themselves vulnerable to risky behaviour. The pedagogical- psychological counseling center is the main partner of schools and school facilities and the role of the prevention methodologist lies not only in the coordination of school prevention methodologists, but also in mapping the occurrence of risky behavior for the creation of remedial programs and risky behavior prevention programs. There is just one addictology clinic in the whole region, focusing on the target group of children and adolescents. Role of addictologist in services specialized in treatment of eating disorders

Eating disorders are getting more and more attention in today's society. Mental anorexia and bulimia are considered to be widely spread problems among adolescent girls and young women. Studies estimate anorexia and bulimia to be present in around 4,5 % and 1,5 %-5 % of women population. There is a strong correlation between presence of any addictological disorder and eating disorder. If addictological disorder is to be present eating disorder is to be present in 35 % of all cases. Addiction treatment of both phenomena is usually separate although integrated treatment seems to be the most efficient. The goal of the study is to test the possible employment of an addictologist in eating disorders treatment services and outline possible role of and addictologist in therapeutic team. The goal is to be achieved through semi-structured interviews with employers of three therapeutic clinics Anabell in Prague, Brno and Ostrava. The semi- structured interviews were divided into specific areas. All the interviews were recorded and analysed afterwards. Open, axial and selective coding was used as a method of data analysis.
