The boundaries of democracy as a challenge in civic education

The master's thesis objective is a didactic transformation of the political science theme boundaries of democracy in civic education. It contains a theoretical (political sciences) and a practical (didactic) part. The theoretical part of the work analyses the populist approach to governance of certain current politicians who gained a vast amount of political power in their state. Three examples were chosen for this purpose: Andrej Babiš (ANO 2011), Donald J. Trump (Republican Party), and Recep Tayyip Erdo?an (AK PARTi), their characteristics are merged to make a populist politician dangerous for the democratic establishment. In the practical part, these data are didactically transferred to teaching civic education. It analyses textbooks and internet manuals for teachers. The thesis end with teaching of the given topic in an alternative school and transferring that experience into a methodical lecture for teaching the boundaries of democracy.
Educational project: "We're different, and that's good!"

This thesis deals with the cross-curricular theme of multicultural education and its use in teaching in the 2nd level of elementary Czech school. The aim of the thesis is to provide a theoretical treatment of the topic of multicultural education and its practical application in teaching. The text will present the educational project "We are all different, and that's good!", which is implemented in civics education lessons. The diploma thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part defines the main terms and didactic aspects of multicultural education. It focuses on the integration of this cross-cutting topic with civics education lessons in the 2nd grade of elementary school and provides specific multicultural education activities for teaching. The practical part presents a teaching project on multicultural education, which addresses the topics of culture, prejudices and stereotypes, values, and patriotism. The final chapters of this work are devoted to the implementation itself, its reflection and discussion. This teaching project has demonstrated the possibility of effectively connecting the topics of multicultural education and the subject of man and society.
Projects aimed on enhancing active citizenship among primary school pupils

This diploma discusses projects to enhance active citizenship among primary school pupils. The work seeks to describe the importance of education for active citizenship in primary schools, to map projects dedicated to deepening knowledge regarding the role of an active citizen, and at the same time to inspire interested teachers to incorporate this issue into their lessons. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part defines the concepts of citizenship and active citizenship, the goals of education for active citizenship, and its inclusion in the curriculum, as well as a description of two different projects devoted to this issue. The empirical part tries to answer several questions regarding the projects. First, it answers why it is essential to include education for active citizenship as early as the 1st grade of primary school. It further discusses the goals and risks of this inclusion. Lastly, the empirical part focuses on new and existing programs and initiatives that deepen the development of education for active citizenship among children in the 1st grade of primary school. Political participation in citizenship education at the second stage of basic education

The aim of the diploma thesis entitled Political participation in citizenship education at the second stage of basic education is, based on a comparison of curricular documents, to identify the topics and outcomes that will lead to the promotion of political participation, to carry out a didactic analysis of selected political topics and to propose a suitable didactic procedure for teaching these topics in citizenship education classes at the second level of primary schools and in the lower grades of multi-year grammar schools. The presented procedure is based on the three-phase model of E-U-R learning and combines different methods, organizational forms and models of teaching. The emphasis is on working with authentic texts and the development of key competences according to the Framework Curriculum for Primary Schools. At the same time, taking into account the conditions and trends at the time of writing the diploma thesis, each lesson is designed with the possibility of moving the teaching to a distance form. The starting point for why this thesis is being written in the first place and why its objectives are set in this way is an analysis of research on political participation in selected countries. Application of the project method in teaching civic education at the second stage of elementary school

The topic of the diploma thesis is the application of the project method in teaching civic education at the second stage of elementary school. The diploma thesis is divided into two main parts, a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part will be devoted mainly to knowledge about the project method, which has been very popular and positively evaluated lately. The theoretical part is followed by the practical part, in which five projects are proposed that could be implemented in civics lessons. The aim of this diploma thesis is to show the implementation of the project method in the teaching of civic education at the second stage of elementary schools on individual proposals of teaching units and thus inspire civics teachers to do similar projects.
Our own state - an educational project for the lower secondary education

This diploma thesis focuses on the project-based learning as a complex teaching method and its possible application in lower-secondary school education. The aim of this thesis is to create an educational project focused on a chosen theme from the field of "Human and Society" and its verification in practice. The diploma thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and analytical. Theoretical part interprets information about contemporary expert views on the project-based learning considering its possible application within the educational field "Human and Society", particularly in the field of Civics. The theoretical part deals with these chapters - the history of the project-based learning, what is a project, what is the project method, what is the project-based learning and the use of the project method in civic education. The analytical parts deals with a complex educational project applicable in lower-secondary school education which concentrates on selected themes from these educational units: "Human, state and economy", "Human, state and legal system" and "International relations, global world". The project was applicated at lower secondary school and it is evaluated in accordance with methodological principles of action research.

The aim of the work is to process the methodological and didactic preparation of the topic for teaching within the subject Citizenship Education at elementary school against the background of problems related to the cars. The methods used in this work will be: heuristics, comparisons and compilations from professional literature and data sources, an attempt to analyze problems. In the methodological-didactic (practical) part, the observance of methodical and didactic principles of teaching. During the evaluation, the author will assess the issue of the cars in the FEP ZV (Framework Education Programme for Primary Schools). The diploma thesis will be usable as a supplementary material for teaching the topic within the OV at the elementary school. This will be helped by a brief presentation of the work in PowerPoint, which will be part of the work in its Attachments.
Rodina jako téma ve výuce občanské výchovy

The aim of the thesis is to map how family theme are understood within the framework of civics and to prepare activities for the teaching process focused on family. The introductory section is about a family on a theoretical level, describes the functions and types of family, marriage, outlines the development of a family in Western Europe and indicates characteristics of a current family such as growing divorce rate and alternative forms of cohabitation. Subsequently, the thesis focuses on the analysis of family theme in the Framework Educational Programme for Elementary Education and in selected textbooks of civics for elementary schools. The final section of the thesis presents a set of own activities related to a family theme.

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of cross-curricular relationships between civics and geography in elementary school education. The aim of this work is to provide an overview of these interdisciplinary relations between both educational fields. This was achieved through a content analysis of the thematic units of the curriculum presented in the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education. Based on the obtained data, the author designed eight model teaching units that were put into practice. Individual teaching units were subsequently evaluated. The main contribution of this work is finding numerous compatibility between both fields, which can be used in everyday pedagogical practice.
Analysis of Games with selected educational potentional of experience for schools

The presented diploma thesis deals with the use of the potential of experiential learning in the context of teaching at lower secondary schools. The theoretical part makes for the starting point of the practical part. It is devoted to the description of the basic pillars of experiential learning and the specific needs of pupils in the period of pubescence from the perspective of developmental psychology. The aim of the analysis processed in the practical part of the thesis is to select games from 29 issues of the Gymnasion magazine that meet the established criteria related to the principles of Experiential learning, the specifics of work with the educational category of lower secondary school-age and selected areas of the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education. The findings include 33 selected games, 15 of which are adapted in the form of didactic cards, which are available for teachers of Citizenship education.
