German loanwords in Russian and Czech languages
Andrlová, Lucie ; Žofková, Hana (advisor) ; Rozboudová, Lenka (referee)
This thesis is concerned with German loanwords in Russian and Czech languages. The main aim was to create a dictionary based on comparison of phonetically resembling equivalents of German words in Russian and Czech, to explain their semantic and stylistic differences and classify them with respect to their productive or perceptive character. In order to achieve this goal first of all it was necessary to establish a key to choose the words which will be used in this work. For this task Краткий этимологический словарь русского языка: Пособие для учителя was selected as the main source. The choice was made due to a fact that this book is intended for primary and secondary school teachers and, therefore, contains words which are most likely to appear while teaching Russian language. The only criterion for choosing words from this book was whether they are loanwords from German or not. All the words borrowed from German were first translated into Czech. If there were not any translations which have similar pronunciation to the original Russian word a phonetically resembling word was chosen. In case similar words with German origin are found in both Czech and Russian their meaning and stylistic usage in contemporary language are compared. The work is divided into five chapters. The first one is concerned...

Churaňová, Eliška ; Volín, Jan (advisor) ; Palková, Zdena (referee)
This master thesis provides a relatively detailed description of the consonant-vowel structure of standard spoken Czech. The first part covers approaches to and findings on the combinatorial system and distribution of sound units in speech; aspects of continuous speech segmentation into intonation phrases and stress groups, phonotactics of languages in general and Czech in particular, and speech rhythm are also addressed. Recordings of 12 professional speakers of Czech - comprising 6639 words and 5368 stress groups in total - have been used to create data sets that have enabled the author to describe CVCV structures of Czech words and stress groups. The results of this research present frequencies of words and stress groups and their relations to word-class dimension, frequencies of phones in words and stress groups; in this respect, both syllabic liquids and glottal stops have been taken into account. Further, the thesis includes an overview of the most frequent CVCV patterns in words and stress groups and their variability with regard to word classes. The final part focuses on how frequently consonants, vowels and their pairs and trios occur at different places within a unit. The results are continuously compared both between themselves and with the research that used the larger SYN2005 written...
Active vocabulary connected with the perception of
Skalová, Dana ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Šarounová, Alena (referee)
The thesis deals with active vocabulary related to the perception of solid objects by 5-6- year-old children. The main objective of this thesis is to map which verbal expressions the children use when recognising, comparing and identifying solid objects, how they are able to cope with the deficit of the respective vocabulary, what details they notice most often in describing, identifying and comparing solid objects, or what is most easy for them and, by contrast, what they are not able to express in words. To meet this objective, an experiment method was applied. The experiment was conducted in two kindergartens according to the scenario prepared in advance, using a set of wooden solid objects, which the children were to identify, describe and compare. The contribution of the thesis consists in the fact that it addresses the topics related to pre- school age, which are not elaborated in more detail in the available literature.
Name as the premise of philosophy. Panhuman roots of knowledge in a thought of P. Florensky.
Yudina, Maria ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (advisor) ; Nykl, Hanuš (referee)
This graduation thesis deals with the interpretation of the nature of word and name found in the works of P. Florensky (1882-1937), the Russian philosopher, scientist and poet. The question of word, name and symbol was crucial for P.Florensky and all his works as well as for other important authors of the so called Russian religious and philosophical Renaissance, especially for V. F. Ern, S. N. Bulgakov and A. F. Losev. According to Florensky real cognition can only be achieved by means of word and symbol. To this issue Florensky also linked the question of correlation between a word and a thing, a man and a word, sacral terminology/denomination etc. Thus focus on the nature of word is vital for understanding P.Florensky's philosophy. The goal of this thesis is to outline the basic features of philosophic and theological understanding of name and word in Pavel Florensky's works, and also to define his cognition theory which is based on this way of thinking.

Image and word
Neznal, Vít ; ETLÍK, Jaroslav (advisor) ; CÍSAŘ, Jan (referee)
Vít Neznal's MA thesis called The Image and the Word deals with images and words as the two primary means of representation and elaborates on Neznal's bachelor thesis, in which he examined their articulation through the medium of theatre. The author first interprets the nature ? identity of image and representation with regards to general esthetic categories (mimesis, intentional object, simulacrum), and goes on to focus on their specific manifestations within individual artistic domains (painting, photography, film, theatre), basing his analysis on the framework of numerous theoretical concepts (structural-semiotic discourse, the "esthetics of the performative," the "ontological principle," etc.). The author then reflects on the word, while keeping his previous conclusions in mind, mainly within the context of theatre. His central theme is the identity of the image, or representation. This influenced his choice of examples. The analyzed works are mainly connected through an exploration of the limits of representation and through the thematization of their artistic language.
