Furthermore, to acquire and train the skills needed for independent living as well as to practice the development of practical skills associated with self-care and apartment maintenance, the demonstration is a priority, then constant repetition of activities. The client will get a habit which will make it easier for the clients to gradually start living independently. Developing child's independence as a part of the preparation for school
JÍLKOVÁ, Kateřina
The focal point of this bachelor thesis is the development of independence in a preschool aged child. The independence, per se, is a crucial part of one's skills as it facilitates the survival. Nowadays, it might seem as if leading children to independence from an early age was ceasing to exist. It is because of that, that in the practical part, the historical outlook on a child and their independence in a particular development stage and the impact of different upbringing methods on the phenomena, are acknowledged. The ultimate part of this work then, illustrates the independence of a child from the viewpoint of alternative methods - as applied in Montessori kindergartens and institutions following the principles of "Začít spolu" (in English also referred to as the "Step by Step" programme). In the practical part, a formerly established scheme is put into practice. More specifically, a scheme inspired by the results of a questionnaire, responded to by first grade teachers and completed as an action research. The very last task addressed in this thesis, is an interview with teachers that became a part of the experiment by later accommodating the children from the preschool programme in their first grades. These professionals were to describe the amount of the children's independence, their ability to socialize quickly, attention span and perception in classes.
