Population development in the districts of Prague between 2001 and 2013
Křenková, Lenka ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Kraus, Jaroslav (referee)
The main goal of this study is to analyse population development in Prague districts in between 2001 and 2013. Within this frame the processes of mortality, fertility, migration and population aging are also examined. As a part of this study, a sample survey on the policies of districts regarding issues with demographic structure was made. The results prove, that life expectancy at birth generally rose in Prague, with differences from district to district. It also rose faster for the population of men. The total fertility rate also grew, as well as the mean age of mothers giving birth. The center of the city lost some of its population from migration, mainly due to migration to the outer districts. Whereas, districts on the outskirts saw an increase in migration. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Primary School Pupil Numbers and Demographic Change in Czech Municipalities
Kusovská, Marie ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Kučerová, Silvie Rita (referee) ; Fiala, Tomáš (referee)
Primary School Pupil Numbers and Demographic Change in Czech Municipalities Abstract Following a sharp fall in fertility to its historical minimum after 1990, the population of Czechia began to increase again gradually. Consequently birth cohorts of varying size are emerging and these then enter the education system. Moreover suburbanisation has led to a change in population distribution. These factors have mean that in some areas primary school capacity does not reflect the numbers of primary school age children, with some schools having insufficient places and others suffering from a lack of pupils. The aim of this dissertation is to analyse regional demographic change in Czechia after 1990, including changes in the spatial pattern of compulsory school age children (6-14 years). The information obtained is set against the changes in the spatial patterns of primary school pupils and maximum primary school capacity. The whole analysis is undertaken within the catchment regions for combined primary schools (schools that provide nine years of primary and middle school education), which were created on the basis of the shortest road distance from the district to the nearest combined primary school. Webb's graphs were used along with spatial autocorrelation since these are appropriate methods for conducting...

Rodionov, Viktor ; Pavlík, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Tomeš, Jiří (referee)
Geopolitical role and population development of the Republic of Kazakhstan: recent developments and prospects V. Rodionov Abstract Present research is an attempt to define the influence of the demographic factor on geopolitical development of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is of a specific interest herein due to its strategically important geographical location and presence of natural resources. Taking into account these factors, Kazakhstan has certain claims on leadership in the region. At the moment, Kazakhstani geopolitical leadership is based on economic achievements of the country and its political stability. At the same time demographic factor is quite sensitive from the strategic point of view. Kazakhstani population is relatively inconsiderable in number for its region. Moreover, some negative tendencies of distribution of population and its structural changes are causing concern. The government is aware of the gravity of these problems and is making certain efforts to change the situation. Nevertheless, it is very important to acknowledge the demographic factor as strategically important.
Population Development of Countries after Demographic Revolution

Lucie Vítková: Populační vývoj zemí po demografické revoluci Abstract The aim of the thesis is an analysis of main features of population development in developed countries and a question whether there is homogeneity of population development. Demographic revolution is a qualitative change from extensive to intensive character of demographic reproduction and it is a subject to modernization. Countries which are understood not only as demographically developed ones but also as economically developed has been taken as an object of this thesis. These countries finished demographic revolution at the latest in the middle of the 20th century. This period has been used as a starting point for most analysis which has been carried out. Demographic reproduction is a process determined by biological and social factors. Human reproduction takes place in relatively stable limits, which lead to its homogenization. The importance of social conditionality has grown during demographic revolution, social aspects are the cause of their development changes and specific features, same social conditions lead to homogenization. Presumption of different features of population development as consequence of different conditions in former Eastern and Western countries has been confirmed not only in individual main demographic indexes...

Nováková, Iveta ; Kurtinová, Olga (advisor) ; Kalibová, Květa (referee)
Population development in Sweden since 1960 Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the population development in Sweden between 1960 and 2018. The main goal of this work is to evaluate in the context of selected demographic characteristics the course of demographic changes that appeared in the country after 1960. The result is changes in the level of demographic reproduction, which are referred to as the second demographic transition. From the 1960s to the present, Sweden has seen an increase in the average age at first marriage, an increase in the average age of the mother giving birth and an increase in the number of divorces. During the observed period, the Swedish population aged, the share of the pre-productive component of the population decreased, while the share of the post-productive component in the population increased. The development of total fertility in Sweden is often compared to a roller coaster due to its specific fluctuation. From 1960 to 2018, Sweden saw a decline in mortality rates, especially in the older age groups and up to one year of age, which was reflected in the values of life expectancy at birth that grew for both men and women. Sweden is inspiring for other European countries with its gender-neutral family and social policy. Keywords: population development, Sweden, second...
Development of housing construction in the context of regional population development in Czechia
Janda, Martin ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Kraus, Jaroslav (referee)
Development of housing construction in the context of regional population development in Czechia Abstract The main aim of the thesis is to analyze and describe the development of housing construction in the context of regional population development in the Czech Republic in the years 2000- 2019. Spatial autocorrelation (LISA) and Webb's graph, which is used in analyzes of regional population development, were used for data analysis. Areas with above-average and, on the contrary, below-average housing construction are observed in four five-year periods. These areas are mutually compared in terms of their population development. The main result of the thesis is the confirmation of the assumption that in most cases, areas with above-average housing construction are also characterized by above-average population growth and are located in the hinterland of large cities (especially Prague) as part of the suburbanization process. Population Development of Israel
Benešová, Tereza ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Kulhánová, Ivana (referee)
The aim of the presented work is to analyse and describe the population development of Israel between 1948-2018. Basic descriptive demographic indicators of fertility, mortality and international migration are used for the analysis. The space is also dedicated to the age and sex structures of the population. The indicators are calculated or taken from estimates that are based on previous censuses and population movement records. The work identifies differences and similarities in the population development of religious and nationality groups. It also includes an international comparison and an outline of Israel's future population development after 2018. The results show that fertility was highest among Muslim religious group for most of the period under review, however, in recent years there has been a decline and convergence with the Jewish population group. Mortality has improved in all population groups, which is confirmed by the growing life expectancy. The overall increase of Israel's population was predominantly affected by the mechanical change throughout the period under review. Migration has been an important factor influencing Israel's population development, with Europe being the main source area of immigrants. Demographic revolution started during this time and the data collected show its impact on the studied population. The results of the analysis indicate a population growth mainly due to migration, and change in age structure that exhibit aging of the population. Lastly, the data show that fertility and mortality levels decreased while nuptiality increased. Keywords: population, population development, historical demography, city of Brno

Population development in the political district of Kutná Hora in the period of 1880-1910 Abstract This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of population development in the political district of Kutna Hora during years 1880-1910. The political district of Kutna Hora was divided in two judicial districts - Kutna Hora and Uhlirske Janovice. The area of Kutna Hora belonged to the Czech regions where changes of ongoing demographic revolution were implemented very soon. This was thanks to the district town where more job opportunities in industry and services occurred. The judicial district of Uhlirske Janovice belonged to the regions oriented more on agriculture. Handcraft and glass industry were traditional for the villages in this region.
