Media representation of female doctors' status in the Czech Republic

The diploma thesis "Media Representation of Female Doctors' Status in the Czech Republic" focuses on how the media reflects the trend of feminization in medicine. It discusses what aspects affecting the female doctors' status are accentuated by the media and whether the media representation of female doctors' status in mainstream and professional media differs. Indeed, surveys show that female doctors in the Czech Republic face discrimination due to persistent negative stereotypes about the unsuitability of women particularly in surgical fields. They are disadvantaged due to the assumption of pregnancy and career interruption due to motherhood (Stieranková & Veselská, 2020). Using grounded theory (Strauss & Corbinová, 1999), this study qualitatively analyzes articles dealing comprehensively with female doctors' status in the Czech Republic. It takes into consideration articles that have appeared in Czech mainstream and professional media in printed or electronic versions approximately over the last eleven years. The time frame is explained and justified in the thesis. A subsequent analysis of the articles found no significant difference in the media representation of the female doctors' status in mainstream and professional media. Harmonization of Family and Professional Life of Female Doctors in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis deals with the harmonization of family and professional life of female doctors in the Czech Republic. The topic is explored through a gender perspective. The aim of the thesis is to determine how women doctors feel during their study years and subsequently during their professional life, whether they have ever encountered gender discrimination, how female doctors manage to reconcile their family and professional life, and what obstacles they are faced with in such a demanding profession. The thesis describes the medical profession and its genderalization, family and parenthood, the public and private spheres, the harmonization of family and professional life, and what strategies can be used for its reconciliation. The methodological approach is qualitative with a research design of a case study. To answer the research questions, semi-structured interviews with female doctors who are working in hospitals and have at least one child under the age of 13 (including) were conducted. Work and life balance of female doctors in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis focuses on work and life balance of female doctors in the Czech Republic. Conflicting requirements of labour market, traditional division of gender roles, lack of institutional support for parents (insufficient number of establishment providing child care et.) and specific demands of being doctor complicate work and life balance. In the theoretical part were discussed key theories based on personal freedom of choices or structural barriers of labour market, specifics of medical profession and strategies of solution to avoid unsuccessful work and life balance. The aim of this thesis is to answer which barriers female doctors (having children) perceive in combination of work and family. The empirical part of this thesis focuses on analyzing results of quantitative study in three thematic areas - doctor profession, experience with maternity leave and barriers to work and life balance. Female overseers and physicians in the concetration and examination camps of nazi germany

Diploma thesis "Female Overseers and Doctors in the Concentration and Extermination Camps of Nazi Germany" deals with life and deeds of these women before and during World War 2. In my thesis I would therefore like to address the possible causes of the Holocaust, I want to think about how we can from the relatively recent past World War 2 learn, or whether there are any options to prevent similar incidents. It will try to hold on to the role of women in the extermination camps, which were the main venue of the program extermination of Jews and other minorities. I will focus on the phenomenon of "bad women" in the death camps, thus nazi women or female doctors. I would like this type of women looked at from a sociological point of view. If possible, a description of their origin, family background, education, interpersonal relationships, behavior in the camp and the like. It is clear that there are more reasons why some individuals become a cruel figure. Of course, some tendencies to violence inside each and every one must be encoded. I believe, however, that the main role is played by education, whether at home or at school.
