Development of children's communication skills as a part of school maturity and readiness during COVID-19 pandemic

This thesis addresses preschool education in the COVID-19 pandemic from a speech therapy perspective. The aim was to determine whether the pandemic affects the development of communication skills in children's school maturity and readiness. For the research, a quantitative method was used. A sample of 50 respondents from kindergartens in the Vysočina region completed a self-administered questionnaire to provide data for this work. The research sample was teachers of children with compulsory school attendance. The research found that the number of deferrals of compulsory school attendance is higher in the school year 2020/2021 than in previous years. The root causes cited by the respondents were psychological immaturity, including impaired communication skills. It was also found that for more than half of the respondents, children in the classroom have the same difficulties in communication skills as in previous years, yet 92% of teachers admitted that the educational objectives in the field of communication, according to the Framework Education Programme for Preschool Education, were not met in the 2020/2021 school year. Taring advantages of drama therapy in individuals

The first part of the bachelor's thesis deals with the mental retardation, determination, classification and etiology. It is emphasising importance of the education of the child with light mental disability, which is possible to be used in form of the therapeutic-formative intervention. The second part of the bachelor's thesis deals with the area of drama therapy that describes the therapeutic-formative approach. It refers to possibilities of application of the drama therapeutic techniques and exercises in area of treatment of the children with mild mental disablement. The third part of the bachelor's thesis focuses on the proposal of the drama therapeutic programme, which main contribution is development of the verbal and nonverbal communication abilities. There is a presentation of ten lessons of the drama therapy programme with focus on the prevention of problems in the communication.
Communication skills of pupils at special elementary school

The thesis deals with communication abilities of pupils attending special elementary school. The theoretical part summarizes the general knowledge of communication, the development of speech in the healthy population and impaired communication abilities. It also deals with the description, the etiology and symptoms of mental disability, Down syndrome and combined disabilities, especially cerebral palsy. The final part summarizes knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication used for patients with severely impaired communication skills. The practical part consists of the interpretation of the results of the research, dealing with the analysis of the communication skills of pupils from special elementary school, especially comparisons of evaluations of this communication by family members and professionals who work with the specific person. The result of the research is the fact that the communication skills of students from special elementary schools are very individual and family assessment and key worker may not coincide. Bibliotherapy as a tool to develop the communication skills of pupils with mild intellectual disability

Diploma Work Bibliotherapy as a tool of developing communication skills pupils with mild intellectual disabilities deals with opportunity of using bibliotherapy and its elements within Czech langage lessons. The educator by the means of appropriate reading materials affects the verbal expression advancement of pupils with mild intellectual disabilities. The aims to develop suitable exercises and arrange them into a bibliotherapy program, to show the beneficial effect that working with texts can have on the pupils' communicative competence, and to make certain that the program operates as expected, through working directly with the pupils, observing them and evaluating the different outputs of the program. Outcomes of the research prove pupils' improvements in desired sphere. Alternative communication issues in children with combination of hearing and other impairments

Bachelor thesis deals with the issue of children with multiple disabilities and application of individual forms of alternative communication. The theoretical part are analysed and defined not only the characteristics of hearing impairment and autism spectrum disorders, but also to be accommodating alternative communication as a whole. Acquired knowledge based information retrieval expert sources were then applied in practice. During their teaching practice, the author had the opportunity to see two children whose hearing impairment was combined with a diagnosis of childhood autism. Processed were two case studies (case study) of these children, from which it appeared that alternative forms of communication seems to be very appropriate for their use in children with multiple disabilities, helping them in a comprehensive orientation in the world.
