The bachelor's thesis entitled Depiction of natural and anthropogenic disasters in the contemporary audiovisual environment - (main Czech news broadcast ČT, Nova, CNN Prima News) deals with media segments of main Czech news broadcast dedicated to disasters. The theoretical part includes a definition of catastrophes as events, offers a short historic outlook on the beginnings of their portrayal in audiovisual news media, and covers the main transformations of the role journalists while working on them. It also describes the latest technology, problematic elements in broadcasting and psychological influence of audiovisual news reporting on disasters. The main part of the examination is to analyse the depiction of the floods 2020 in the Czech Republic, Australian bushfires 2019-2020, and hurricane Laura 2020 in the United States of America. These events represent domestic and foreign disasters. The work also offers brief characteristics of selected broadcasts and disasters. The work aims to contextualise chosen problematic, analyse and compare related segments in selected broadcasts. The work uses methodology of content analysis and comparison. It is a case study.

Catastrophe? Events in new connections - inspiration for art creation and art education

This dissertation follows the topic of media and visual communication with relations to art. The theoretical part explains the usage and influence of such medias in the past and present, the communication between people and their visual statements, their psychological effects in connection to the manipulation of the picture. The practial part on the other hand, further explains the precise catastrophical events in the news and their overall effect in connection to personal explenations of said catastrophy. The last, Didaktical part, goes into detail on the transformation of catastrophies and possibility of applicating the medial education into the general creative uprbringing. Readiness of healt care providers to mass disasters

Reception of a large number of the injured to a medical facility as a result of a mass disaster or a catastrophe puts high demands on health care. Such situations can not be dealt with the mere improvisation; it is necessary to create unified organizational procedures defining the composition of medical teams and their activities during the multiple reception of the injured to a medical facility. The theoretical part of this thesis provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of emergency preparedness in healthcare facilities. In the empirical part, I analyzed the readiness of health facilities for a mass disaster in the capital city of Prague. A structured interview with open questions was chosen as a method of data collection. Based on the survey, I concluded that the readiness of health facilities in the capital city of Prague differs. I recommend setting up a phone line while receiving patients as a result of a mass disaster in order to improve the situation in Prague. The sole purpose of such a line would be reporting emergencies. I also recommend health care facilities participate actively in exercises within the integrated rescue system and clearly identify and determine facilities where the reception of the injured takes place if a mass disaster occurs. Biohazard and readiness of rescue teams The thesis deals with biohazard and with the readiness of rescue forces. This issue has been discussed little even though some groups more and more draw the attention to imminent danger and panic connected with it, mainly due to terrorism. Another part deals with making alert, provision of medical care at the side of the incident and subsequent triage with the specimen of a registration card that facilitates orientation of the patient?s condition. There are also discussed tasks and activities of basic forces of the Integrated Rescue System (IRS), where there must be print action analysis of an object found with a suspicion of the presence of B-agens. Activities of the NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) teams are mentioned here only marginally. These teams are involved in dealing with contamination and focused on further actions. The next chapter deals with various types of protective instruments that are able to protect us against B-agens. Further on, mechanisms and methods of decontamination are described together with other measures against spread of contamination. Another part of the thesis deals with biological weapons or B-agens that cause various diseases and illnesses. They are divided according to categories and pathogens. These infectious diseases are here described according to their severity. The objective of this work was to describe the most significant combat biological agens that could be abused by terrorist organizations and the procedures of the IRS forces in joint actions. By means of hypotheses I tried to find out whether the basic forces of the IRS have sufficient information and material security. I compiled a questionnaire with 21 questions, where there was always only one right answer to each question. I handed out the questionnaires at ambulance stations, fire rescue brigade stations and Police of the Czech Republic stations in South Bohemian Region.

Výzkum a implementace nových nástrojů pro předpovědi povodní a odtoku v rámci zabezpečení hlásné a předpovědní povodňové služby v ČR

Zpráva uvádí výsledky projektu v rámci jednotlivých dílčích úkolů. DÚ 1 Výzkum vlivu vstupů ansámblových systémů pro pravděpodobnostní předpověď počasí na hydrologické modelování - testování předpovědi srážek v systému ALADIN/LAEF pro účely hydrologického modelování a propojení tohoto systému s hydrologickým modelem AQUALOG. DÚ 2 Vytvoření metodiky dlouhodobých pravděpodobnostních hydrologických předpovědí - implementace programu AquaESP pro povodí Otavy, Lužnice, Jizery a Vltavy nad VD Lipno. Byly připraveny konfigurační a datové soubory časových řad a parametry, které ovlivňují způsob simulace ESP. DÚ 3 Vyhodnocení využitelnosti výstupů pravděpodobnostních předpovědí ve vodohospodářské praxi - práce byly zaměřeny na možnost zpřesnění poskytovaných údajů o velikosti objemu vody ve sněhu. Pro testování bylo vybráno povodí vodního díla Švihov na Želivce. Je popsáno zajištění sběru kompletních informací o stavu sněhové pokrývky. DÚ 4 Vývoj robustní metody odhadu odtoku z přívalových srážek - byl uveden do provozu systém FFG-CZ, jehož hlavním výstupem je operativní informace o pravděpodobném riziku vzniku přívalové povodně na daném území (povodí). DÚ 5 Rozvoj metod pro stanovení a měření parametrů sněhové pokrývky vzhledem k potřebám hlásné a předpovědní povodňové služby - popis testování a provozu automatických stanic pro měření výšky a vodní hodnoty sněhové pokrývky. Jsou popsány výsledky měření. Výzkum a implementace nových nástrojů pro předpovědi povodní a odtoku v rámci zabezpečení hlásné a předpovědní povodňové služby v ČR: Vytvoření metodiky dlouhodobých pravděpodobnostních hydrologických předpovědí

V rámci řešení DÚ 2 byla zpracována literární rešerše. Byla navržena a demonstrována metodika tvorby střednědobé hydrologické předpovědi odtoku s předstihem předpovědi 10 až 30 dnů. Metodika využívá historických dat a stochastického generátoru pro vytvoření sady analogů použitých jako alternativní vstupy srážek a teploty vzduchu v předpovědním období. V následujících letech řešení projektu budou vyvinuty programové prostředky, které umožní rutinní provozování navrženého systému střednědobých předpovědí. Programy budou včleněny do stávajícího předpovědního systému a budou koncipovány jako otevřené tak, aby v některých krocích umožňovaly případné změny nastavení. Příkladem může být princip výběru členů ensemblu. Obecně lze rovněž předpokládat růst úspěšnosti metodiky s množstvím generovaných členů ensemblu. Systém proto bude koncipován jako otevřený právě směrem ke zvyšování počtu variantních předpovědí.

Cíle dílčího úkolu: 1. Výzkumný monitoring sněhové pokrývky v Jizerských horách, 2. Navržení metodiky pro verifikaci dat ze sněhoměrných polštářů pro jejich provoz v rámci staniční sítě a určení kritérií jejich rozmístění v rámci ČR, 3. Posouzení reprezentativnosti dosavadního způsobu měření parametrů sněhové pokrývky a navržení nových postupů, 4. Posouzení vlivu informací o sněhové pokrývce na výsledky simulací a předpovědí hydrologickými modely na malém povodí, 5. Ověření metodiky GIS výpočtu zásob vody ve sněhové pokrývce pro území ČR, 6. Využití naměřených hodnot pro širší veřejnost a pro provoz a větší efektivitu práce Horské služby ČR. V roce 2007 probíhaly tyto práce: výzkumný monitoring sněhové pokrývky v rámci experimentálních povodí v Jizerských horách, testování sněhoměrných polštářů na stanici Desná-Souš, návrh využití naměřených hodnot pro širší veřejnost a pro provoz a větší efektivitu práce Horské služby ČR, posouzení reprezentativnosti dosavadního způsobu měření parametrů sněhové pokrývky a navržení nových postupů.
