My Bachelor's Thesis

Videomeaning is the second of a series of pictorial compositions. They build on linking words and their meanings, each one kreujúcich framework. In the version of the genre are the outputs of the four characters in the same situation in one room, each of which can function as a single unit with an inherent background as well as a sample, cut a kind of fictional universe, which in his work long build. Imagine more storey house on each floor and several rooms. Monochrome spaces throughout the building, where the color and atmosphere determined by light and sound in every room differently. As one of the rooms, the floors, the theme of which is Videomeaning. Room inhabit in this case four characters, each living their own lives. The characters carried by description, white card on which the explanation of their meaning in the simplest form possible. They are the only other inhabitants of the house. On this floor is their meaning, have meaning. Explanation importance. The first plan. Name, origin, function and material. Some character is a separate room, another may be the opposite in greater numbers, and the focus is more on the compositional enjoyment. Indeed, each it is operating on their own, unless in one act with several characters to one meaning. For this moment, I chose the example of the four figures that work in both cases.
A Play for the Informed. Rhyming Riddles in National Revival Magazines

Rhyming riddles and word plays (anagrams, logogriphs, palindromes and charades) in the cultural and social magazines and newspaper supplements of the national revival period represented a genre aimed at passing time. Their encrypted messages pointed to personalities and acts from an environment where a national society was being formed and was accessible mainly to those readers who identified with nationalist circles. A successful solution to a riddle was a key to this certain community.
Use of Sense Relations in Expressing Language Humour: TV Series Analysis

This bachelor thesis focuses on sense relations, the syntagmatic and the paradigmatic axis, and their use in expressing language humour. The analysis was carried out in a corpus extracted from the TV series Friends and How I Met Your Mother. It strives to answer the question whether the sitcoms display the same number of comical incidences both in the first and the last season. Furthermore, it sheds some light on the linguistic realizations employed and the way they operate to trigger laughter. Finally, the thesis provides an insight into the universal tendencies of humour realizations and their reflection in the amassed data.

Abstract : The thesis aims to provide a comprehensive description of possible use of humour in teaching the French language. In the theoretical section, it defines humour as a form of comic, deals with the influence of humour and laughter on health and describes the advantages and difficulties of integrating humour into school teaching. In the practical part, it analyses the humour in French textbooks, proposes a typology of humour in teaching materials and presents finally didactical sheets to teach French at all language levels. These exercises and activities are dedicated to all speech and language skills. They are focused on different themes to captivate the target age category and meet the requirements to be fun for students. The thesis should become aid and inspiration for those teachers, who decide to incorporate humour and laughter in the teaching of French.
Polish and Czech nonsense literature for children

The diploma thesis describes Polish and Czech nonsense in children's literature. The main goal is to define nonsense literature, its development from a historical and formative point of view, considering contemporary events. The first part of the thesis focuses on the theoretical definition of the term nonsense and its historical aspect, especially on the two key representatives of English nonsense Edward Lear and Lewis Carroll. The next part deals with the development of Polish nonsense in children's literature. Two main authors, Julian Tuwim and Jan Brzechwa, who are considered as the creators of the new poetic school, took part in the formation of nonsense in Poland. Absurd humour and the world of children readers became the main inspirations for their work. This poetics was followed by other representatives of the Polish nonsense, including Ludwik Jerzy Kern, Wanda Chotomska and others. The work also focuses on the development of Czech nonsense for children, its main personalities and major works, which are based on nonsense, absurdity and word play. The diploma describes nonsense work for children of Josef Kainar, Jiří Kolář, Miloš Macourek, Pavel Šrut and other writers of literature. The last part of the thesis deals with specific nonsense literature for children of Polish and Czech authors....

The role of literary studies in translation: an introduction to Swing Hammer Swing!

This thesis analyses the process of translation of the opening four chapters of the novel Swing Hammer Swing! by Jeff Torrington with regard to the cultural, literary and linguistic point of view in order to point out the holistic approach to translation, which has been previously omitted as the functional aspect of translation. In other words, the original text needs to be analysed with regard to its literary, cultural and social context, so the functions of the text are properly reflected in the actual translation. The thesis is based on Jiří Levý's functional structuralism, who is nowadays being discovered by the western linguistic theorists, whereas, in the Czech context, he was well-received and always associated with Prague Linguistic Circle. The thesis is divided into three main parts predominantly based on Halliday's (2001) macro and micro level approach to translation, which strategically combined both the literary and linguistic experience of the translator. In the first section "Macro level approach", the novel as well as the author are placed in their literary and social contexts, additionally, the novel is respectively analysed in terms of its structure, themes and the overall agenda of the author.
