Noise associated with the rail wheel
Mareš, Adam ; Řehák, Kamil (referee) ; Rec, Matouš (advisor)
The issue of noise associated with rail transport, focusing primarily on noise from the wheel – rail contact, is examined mainly in connection with rail transport, but also concerns tram transport in cities and, to a lesser extent, funicular railways. The noise of rail transport is one of the reasons why it is perceived negatively by the public, even though it offers many advantages over other modes of transport, such as environmental friendliness, travel comfort, travel speed and more. This is one of the reasons why it is necessary to focus on noise in rail transport and to understand, research and further develop and improve the whole issue as well, both in the area of passive and active noise control measures. For this reason, the aim of this work is to provide a comprehensive overview of the issue. The work therefore deals with the issue of noise in a comprehensive way, from the theoretical definition of noise, through noise sources and their distribution to noise measurement and the use of numerical methods for its evaluation and determination of appropriate preventive and anti-noise measures.
Rail transport in practice
Poul, David ; Pluskal, Jaroslav (referee) ; Gregor, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with railway transport describes its role in combined transport and compare key aspects with road transport. As part of the diploma thesis, a detailed database of railway tracks in the Czech Republic was created, on which the route planner was built with the possibility of setting waypoints. The route planner also includes the implementation of exclusion activities. A comprehensive technical-economic model of railway transport was created with four calculation models and detailed investment planning, thanks to which is possible to assess whether the purchase or lease of train sets is more advantageous when making investment decisions. Furthermore, a technical-economic model for the branch line was created. The last section deals with the created transport model for the catchment area for 8 localities and 5 types of transported waste/commodities. The transport model was used to evaluate two selected areas – the South Moravian Region and Kolín.
Security System for Regional Train Routes
Pitřík, Martin ; Maršík, Lukáš (referee) ; Musil, Martin (advisor)
This project describes design, implementation and testing of security system for regional train routes. Project includes design and implementation of hardware, firmware, communication interface and software. Design is focused on simplicity and low installation costs, while all possibilities of modern security systems remains preserved.
BRNO – NEW SOUTH CENTRE LOCATION – POŘÍČÍ, BRIDGES TRINITY, THE AREA OF COMMUNICATION AND SOCIAL INTEGRATION, MULTIFUNCTIONAL OBJECT AND SPACE
Tasch, Daniel ; Obtulovič, Marek (referee) ; Kiszka, Josef (advisor)
The aim of my work was to create a multifunctional house, which serves as a connection between the city center of Brno and its industrial part. This building is also in direct contact with the historic viaduct that would be excavated for this project. Today, this historic viaduct serves as a railway line. However, according to the new KAM proposal, the main Brno railway station is planned to be diverted, so that the viaduct will remain unused. For this reason, it also adds character and interest to the bridge on which I decided to design this project. The houses on the bridges over the river are not something out of the ordinary. They are not built at all to the extent expected. The house on the bridge provides not only a practical connection between the two banks and the use of each place for development, but also an aesthetic pleasure. It is something that is not seen every day.
An impact of the 1st wave of Covid-19 pandemic on transport services in municipalities of Czechia
Procházková, Kristina ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Randák, Jakub (referee)
Covid-19 pandemic affected the whole world in short period of time. Big impact was registered by transportation sector. Public transport was affected by Covid-19 disease as soon as it started spreading. This thesis observes specifically a period of February and April 2020. One of the main problems was decreasing demand for public transport. This bachelor thesis aims to determine the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on bus and train connections in municipalities of Czechia. The aim is achieved by data analysis obtained from central timetable of IDOS. The analysis examines the microregional level from angle of population size of municipalities, and from angle of specifics of individual regions. In another level, this thesis examines connection of individual regional cities, and then concludes the study by evaluating the impact of pandemic on international travel. In general part, this bachelor thesis examines measures and restrictions introduced to fight the disease around the world, and in Czechia. Then continues to describe the means of providing and financing the public transport and the specifics of transport serviceability. Data shows, that higher absolute and relative decrease of connections occurred in larger cities, but that the impact of connections reduction was more noticeable in smaller...

Analysis of the Frequency of Connections in Czech Rail Transport
Ambrož, Jiří ; Hudeček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kupková, Lucie (referee)
Analysis of the frequency of connections in Czech railway transport Abstract This paper deals with cartographic representation of frequency of connections in maps and with analysis in suitable level using software ArcGIS 9.3. Theoretical part is aimed at train categories and use of GIS mainly in analysis of traffic accessibility. Next there is a description of used methods which are isoline and cartodiagram. The main part of the paper discribes a creation of relevant data layers and methodology of data capture. Here is also evaluation of the results and suitability of used methods. The frequency of connections is devided into two types. Their differences are discussed in final section where is also warning about several complications that occurred during the work. The main output are two maps for the Czech Republic and one for Středočeský district. Keywords: frequency of connections, accessibility, cartographical methods, railway transport
Predatory Behaviour in Transportation Sector - "Czech Railways v. Leo Express" case
Slámová, Iva ; Vacek, Pavel (advisor) ; Schwarz, Jiří (referee)
It is important to control whether dominant companies in particular market sectors follow laws and rules and do not abuse their dominance at the expense of weaker companies. This behaviour is likely to damage current or avoid the entry of new competitors, shrink the competition and set the environment for price changes the consumer is exposed to. The thesis clarifies the theoretical aspect of this issue and tries to apply it on the real case from the railway transport sector in order to describe the procedure of defining relevant market and market share and investigating the abusive behaviour. A questionnaire survey among railway passeners is an integral part of the thesis. JEL Classification D21, D22, K21, L11, L12, L40 Keywords Predatory prices, relevant market, SSNIP test, railway transport, Czech Railways Author's e-mail Iva-Slamova@seznam.cz Supervisor's e-mail vacek@fsv.cuni.cz
Freight transport in Czechia: analysis of the structure of performance and transport policy strategies
Štěpánek, Zdeněk ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Randák, Jakub (referee)
The first aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine and assess the meaningfulness of the current strategic documents of the Ministry of Transport, which address the change in current state of the domestic freight transport. The second aim is to identify those commodities which are transported by road and that could be in the future transported by an alternative way. At best, it should be ways which are less environmentally demanding and makes less load on the road. My own personal analysis of the current state of domestic and international transport in Czechia is used as a means to achieve these aims. Some of the strategic documents of Ministry of Transport contain beneficial development plans but on the contrary some of them are useless for the current situation. In Czechia there are freights for which it could be found more adequate ways of transport. In the international transport it can especially be recommended the use of combined transport as it is quite heterogeneous. KEY WORDS freight transport, railway transport, road transport, environment, development, Czechia
