The main topic of the Diploma thesis is a complex design to rescue cathedral Notre-Dame in Paris. The work is firstly focused on the reconstruction of the structure including its collapsed parts and preserving a link to the destructive fire in 2019. The mainstay of the thesis is a design of new roof space and its use by broad public. Due to uncertainties about the structure stability disrupted by the fire a great emphasis has been put on the weight reduction of the newly built roof structure. The design makes a genuine attempt to be sensitive with respect to the spiritual function of the cathedral, thus the public roof access is separated from the cathedral itself thanks to a newly built underground spaces that are also included in the design.

The content of the work is ideas solution for the roof of the Notre-Dame in Paris, after the destroying fire in 2019. Main idea is to create garret space for spiritual people, which used to meet, study and pray without the contact with the tourists and fill in the gap after the old tower above the crossing. Concept based on the original garret, which was only for service. The idea is coming especially from the simplicity and effectivity of the old garret and pointing on some of his elements. Space under the roof should be simple according to the first floor of the cathedral. The function is reflecting simplicity of the spaces with the respect to historical cathedral. Garret is designed for spiritual people, who are working in Notre-Dame and makes a space for them, which will be calm place for meditation. For this purpose are there cells for individual studying, library, common space and chapel. Connecting and meeting point in the same time between the ground, garett and higher power is sanctuary. This part is getting light to the ground floor.

The Strategic Position of Eastern Galicia within the West Ukrainian Republic

This bachelor's thesis focuses on a partial episode of international and diplomatic relations of one of the short-lived successor states of Austria-Hungary - the West Ukrainian Republic. When, in the fall of 1918, war broke out between Poland and the West Ukrainian Republic over which side would have a permanent claim to Eastern Galicia, France and Great Britain made repeated efforts to settle the disputes between the two states, but in the end the sovereignty of the West Ukrainian Republic was not preserved. The aim of the thesis is to determine the reasons why the West Ukrainian Republic as a geopolitical entity did not receive sufficient foreign support to ensure its existence and independence in the fight against Poland. For the research purposes of the work, a combination of several historiographical methodological procedures was used, such as direct, indirect, or progressive. The purpose of this procedure is a clear chronological description of key events, such as diplomatic missions, meetings of delegations, or the work of commissions preparing key documents. Peggy Guggenheim in a Cultural-Political Picture of her Time

Peggy Guggenheim belongs to the essential collectible figures of the 20th century art. She has created a unique art collection during her lifetime and she has opened up new artistic movements (in particular Abstract art) by organizing exhibitions, debates and by publishing catalogues in which she participated. She was active in many art projects and she had friendship among many after-war modern artists. Her collection included front works of Cubism, Futurism, Metaphysical art, Abstract art, Surrealism and Avantgard sculpture. Peggy moved to the Venetian palace Venier dei Leoni in 1949, where she was living following thirty years. Today her extensive collection is opened to public under the patronage of Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. The Diploma thesis "Peggy Guggenheim in a Cultural-Political Picture of her Time" will outline Peggy Guggenheim's life in context of emerging modern art (particularly American art) and her diverse activities which were connected with it. Furthermore it will focus on culture-political context of post-war time and finally it will evaluate her contribution to evolution of abstract art and its approach to the general public.

Personality of Zdenka Braunerová in Czech book design

This bachelor thesis focuses on the personality of Czech graphic artist Zdenka Braunerova. In four chapters captured first state Czech books in the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as the life of the painter, graphic overview of the artist's book from 1897 to 1932 and ultimately influence Zdenka Braunerova on the emergence of modern Czech book. The chapter dedicated book design is complemented by a picture attachment, which are examples of the artist's work.

Paris in the French, Czech and American tourist guidebooks (1918-1939)

in English This Master's Thesis deals with guidebooks about Paris published in France, Czechoslovakia and the United States of America between the years 1918-1939. It analyses how the French capital city is presented in the guidebooks and how far the representation differs according to the country of publishing. The first two chapters deal with the modern history of tourism up until the interwar period and with the formation of major collections of guidebooks. The following chapters use a comparative perspective to analyse three major aspects of tourist guidebooks about Paris: itineraries; recommended places and monuments (the so-called "must- sees"); and global images of Paris. The analysis reveals that the country of publishing had only a limited impact on the content of the guidebooks; rather, the books largely respected established rules and patterns within the genre. Czechoslovakia in the ideas of Edvard Benes at Paris Peace Conference in the years 1918-1919

The thesis focuses on the form changes of postwar Czechoslovakia at the Paris Peace Conference in 1918-1919 concerning the personality of Foreign Minister Edvard Benes and describtion and interpretation of his ideas, which were confronted with the reality of the political elites of the time and the views of the contemporary press. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the Benes's efforts related to the formation of postwar Czechoslovakia, his foreign anchorage, international guarantees and bonds, its borders and relations with neighboring countries, etc., whose final form we know, but we're not already familiar with their alternative tendencies and ideas, which changed at the Paris Peace conference.

Walking and writing the world. An approach to modernity in Bohemia and France from the beginning of the 19th century to the 1940's In Christian allegoric texts the Pilgrim traditionally symbolizes the journey of mankind to heaven. From the second half of the 19th century on, poets, travelers, and vagabonds pursued the quest of an afterlife from within city walls. This dissertation examines the different representations of modern wandering via an in-depth analysis of the theme as encountered in French and Czech literature and arts from the early 19th century to the 1940's. It reveals, in chronological order, the different artistic approaches to modernity. By bringing out the various patterns that emerge from the texts, while taking into account the historical and social contexts in which they were created, this work adds to existing knowledge on the cultural similarities between France and Bohemia. It also examines the different literary genres which originate from mankind's need to walk and write the world.
