The Bunker
Ticháčková, Helena ; Sýkora, Šimon (referee) ; Štindlová, Marie (advisor)
In my bachelor's thesis I deal with the issue of escapism - i.e.the desire to escape from reality (through computer games, daydreaming, an escape into the world of fantasy etc.). The reason I chose this theme lies in my personal desire to escape - from certain people's emotional prison, from certain types of traumas, which, within the space of years, sometimes emerge on the surface and influence my present life as well as my future. My medium of choice was large scale painting on canvas. Into these paintings, I have tried to project my feelings of indecision, anxiety and expectation. I believe the theme to be relevant int the whole socio-cultural context, and not just in the last three years, though I do feel the need to escape from reality to be more sought after by people in the context of the wider present.
Mundanity at the End of the City
Dvořák, Jakub ; Nikitinová, Alice (referee) ; Artamonov, Vasil (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis is part of a long-term built and developed cycle of paintings, in which I deal with the environment of the small-town periphery, or the small-town landscape in general. In the paintings I try to create an atmosphere on the aspects of mundaneness, everyday life and civility. I do not avoid a certain descriptiveness to express my message to the audience. In painting, I looked mainly at composition and color. My main goal is show to the viewers the image of a contemporary Czech small town.
Temples
Pokorná, Pavlína ; Horálek, Vojtěch (referee) ; Malý, Břetislav (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis, entitled Temples, consists of a set of paintings that the author perceives metaphorically as personal inner temples. The inspiration for the author was nature, which she considers a temple of its kind. The title of the work comes from the symbolism and artistic typification that are used on Japanese traditional clothing - Kimono. The series of paintings is not only inspired by nature and its motifs, but also freely paraphrases elements from textile design - such as shapes or repetitions.
Galerie bratří Čapků and its exhibition activities in the second half of the 1960s
Micková, Natálie ; Bendová, Eva (advisor) ; Pech, Milan (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with documenting and presenting the exhibition concept of the Brothers Capek Gallery in the second half of the 1960s and at the same time defining the space it occupied among other Prague galleries in the observed period between 1965 and 1970. It focuses on the founding personalities and recalls important political, legal and cultural events that fundamentally influenced the artistic and exhibition activities of the gallery. The exhibition catalogues of individual artists and creative groups with introductory texts, invitations to openings and reviews in the professional and daily press have become an important aid to understanding the gallery's exhibition programme and interpreting individual exhibitions, illustrating the overall scope of the gallery.
Shadows have eyes
Grűnwaldová, Glorie ; Nádvorník, Filip (referee) ; Artamonov, Vasil (advisor)
My Bachelor thesis continues in longer-term work, which is spinning around curiosity, feeling of being watched and maybe even paranoia. It is based on my own experiences, which are related to today's digitized world. We can argue about whether there is privacy or we really live in a place of easily detectable information. These experiences are also based on anxiety and some sort of self control. In my paintings I try to move over the weight of this theme and work with humor. There are moments that make no sense, they are stylized into exaggerated form. The expression of the image is also important, painting itself and combination of techniques. My main goal is to share, lighten these experiences, but also transfer energy throughout the painting.
Space Repairman
Rybníčková, Barbora ; Fexová, Patricie (referee) ; Artamonov, Vasil (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis is a compilation of paintings telling a story of a man who is, in his dreams, becoming a repairman of a space objects and is thus metaphorically mending our world. Through my paintings of a space repairman, I am conveying the need to fix the damaged or broken interpersonal relationships and social structures.
