Kubů, Karolína ; Hejlová, Denisa (advisor) ; Koudelková, Petra (referee)
This thesis examines the strategic approach of luxury fashion brands to counterfeits. The democratization of luxury fashion, the acceleration of the fashion calendar, the boom in online shopping, and last but not least the coronavirus pandemic have led to the normalization of the ownership and promotion of counterfeits. The trade in counterfeits poses a long-term risk to the economy and society. The counterfeit business can finance organised crime and its production is harmful to the planet and to workers in the supply chain. The aim of this paper is to find out how brands are dealing with this situation - what tools and strategies they are using to combat counterfeits. The theoretical introduction of the thesis explains the concept of luxury, describes the different forms of counterfeiting from a legal point of view, presents the negative and positive effects of counterfeiting, as well as recommendations on how to combat it. A qualitative method was chosen for the research, which allows to look at the topics in depth and also to explore how the topics are approached. With the help of critical discourse analysis, an answer to the question is sought: What is the current strategic approach of luxury fashion brands towards counterfeit goods? Key themes that are most frequently mentioned by the media...
Counterfeiting and altering of money
Barák, Michal ; Gřivna, Tomáš (advisor) ; Herczeg, Jiří (referee)
in English This thesis deals with the issue of counterfeiting, in terms of both criminal and criminological perspective. Its opening is devoted to the money, especially to their historical development. The following chapter, number three, continuously moves to the description of the most widely used security features of money, especially of banknotes. Although these security features are not the subject of my thesis, this part can look quite dominant. However, I am convinced that the technical protection of money plays the pivotal role it the whole issue, so I gave them enough space at the beginning of work. The following section deals with the valid legislation and focuses primarily on the enumeration and analysis of the actus reaus under the Criminal Code. In my opinion, the focus only on criminal legislation is inadequate, and therefore I consider it is necessary to mention also other legislation which is significantly related, ie Act No. 136/2011 Coll., on the circulation of banknotes and coins and amending Act No. 6/ 1993 Coll. on the Czech National Bank, as amended, which contains mainly the Czech National Bank's role in the issues mentioned above and responsibilities of defined group of persons handling the money suspected of counterfeiting. The procedure of the Police of the Czech Republic...

Luxury economics - comparative analysis of conspicuous consumption among TBU, UEP and CTU students
Veselý, Pavel ; Rod, Aleš (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
This thesis focuses on the comparison of conspicuous consumption and purchase of counterfeit goods in different socioeconomic environments. For comparison, I analyzed results of the researches by Bc. Tomáš Štegmann and Bc. Jan Vágner, who deal with this issue at University of Economics in Prague (UEP) and Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU). Then I compared it with results of my survey made at Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU). I was able to confirm the assumption of less knowledge and worse awareness of luxury goods among students in Zlín. In the case of students of TBU low income does not play a significant role in the acquisition of a counterfeit in the future, unlike UEP and CTU. Conversely, significant factors at TBU are negative impression of an individual with counterfeit, purchase of a counterfeit in the past and recognition of fake. Negative impression of an individual with a counterfeit is consistent with findings at UEP and CTU. Purchase of a counterfeit in the past does not have significant effect on the future buy of counterfeit at both schools in Prague and effect of recognition of fake is at TBU similar to CTU. Compared to UEP, the effect has opposite direction. At TBU more students have already bought fake and also they avoid buying counterfeits in the future less than the students of UEP and CTU. Perception of counterfeiting as a crime is comparable at all schools -- it's not a serious crime.

Luxury economics - Why VŠE students do(n't) buy counterfeits
Štegmann, Tomáš ; Rod, Aleš (advisor) ; Svoboda, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis deals with the factors influencing decisions regarding the purchase of counterfeits. Main conclusions from previous studies were examined using statistical and logistic regression analysis of data from questionnaire, which was filled by 465 students of University of economics in Prague. The most important influences reinforcing the chance to purchase counterfeits proved to be low economic level, low ability to recognize a fake and the impact of buying situation (holidays abroad etc..). High ability to distinguish fake and negative opinion on forgeries and counterfeiting as such most decreased the inclination to purchase. The survey also showed that respondents do not perceive crime associated with counterfeiting as a serious problem - this is essential information for both law enforcement authorities in the suppression of crime, related to forgery, and the companies producing original luxury products themselves.
