The evaluation model of the benefit of modern technologies in relation to corporate sustainability
Dušková, Monika ; Kajanová, Jana (referee) ; Paseková, Marie (referee) ; Váchal, Jan (referee) ; Kocmanová, Alena (advisor)
The thesis is focused at the measurement of the benefit of modern technologies in relation to sustainable development for companies that are implementing the so-called Key Enabling Technologies, into their production processes. The multidisciplinarity of these technologies and their huge impact on societal and environmental challenges of the current society are the reason, why the companies implementing these technologies have to be assessed differently, more comprehensively. It is also proven within the detailed literature review. The aim of the thesis is to develop evaluation model of the benefit of modern technologies in manufacturing companies that reflects the aspects of the sustainable development. For this purpose, the relevant performance indicators have to be developed. The various statistical methods are applied, especially the structural equation modelling, in order to achieve the goal of the thesis. Finally, the pilot testing of the optimized model is realized on the specific company.
Factors affecting the performance of small and medium-sized family business in the wine sector
Murínová, Anastasia ; Gregar, Aleš (referee) ; Korytárová, Jana (referee) ; Váchal, Jan (referee) ; Koráb, Vojtěch (advisor)
Byly provedeny dva empirické výzkumy: kvalitativní a kvantitativní. Aplikací korelační a regresní analýzy výzkum pomohli zjistit vztahy mezi konkurenčními taktiky a výkonnosti rodinného podnikání obecně a taky vzhledem ke generační fáze vybraných vinařských rodinných firem v České republice.
Business models’ dynamics through implementation of circular economy strategies
Krmela, Aleš ; Kožená, Marcela (referee) ; Váchal, Jan (referee) ; Živělová, Iva (referee) ; Šimberová, Iveta (advisor)
The presented dissertation examines the dynamics of changes in business logic and business models’ architecture associated with the implementation of sustainability related activities, specifically circular economy strategies, with a focus on reducing the amount of unused waste. Business models, being abstract concepts of the business logic, are made up of dynamically changing elements of value proposition, creation, delivery, capture and communication of value created. Businesses are motivated by pressures in society, as well as in their immediate ecosystem, to actively implement circular economy principles and strategies into their business models. The dissertation conceptually captures the issue of business models’ dynamics – what are business models’ dynamics, how are they defined, what possible forms do they take. It explicitly extends the concept of business model for circular economy with a key element value communication. In the application part it analyses, drawing mainly on case studies and quantitative analyses, the evolution of business models’ adaptation related to the implementation of circular economy strategies by companies operating in manufacturing industries, and impact of the strategies on business models. It studies the adaptation of the business models from the temporal and the content point of view. It studies the dynamics of the relations among the elements of business models. The theoretical framework of the dissertation is the Attention Based View Theory, as well as the Legitimacy Theory. The key output of the dissertation is the proposal of a methodology for determining business models’ dynamics through the implementation of selected circular economy strategies. It proposes a business model dynamics index IOMDRi. The methodology allows to quantitatively determine the business models elements’ structure, to quantitatively determine the implemented circular economy strategies, as well as to compare the impact of selected circular economy strategies on the business model and its elements – on a company level, among the companies in a particular industry, and among the industries. A mixed qualitative-quantitative research strategy is applied, using mainly case studies and observations carried out in a selected European manufacturing sector of decorative and information systems (DIS), quantitative content analyses and questionnaire-based surveys.
Decision making based on partially known decision trees

There is a wide range of different algorithms for insolvency prediction. The complex concept of insolvency proceedings from the point of view of both parties (debtor versus creditor) and from the point of view of the macroeconomics in this dissertation is new. It is often very difficult to generate forecasts using numerical quantifiers and traditional statistical methods. The reason is the lack of input data. Therefore, the work uses trend analysis tools based on the least information intensive quantifiers, ie trends, increasing, constant, and decreasing. A trend model solution is a set of scenarios where a set of variables is quantified by these trends. All possible transitions between the scenarios are generated and plotted in transition graphs. The oriented transition graph has as a node a set of scenarios, and as a branch the transitions between the scenarios. The given path through the transition graph describes any possible future and past behavior of the insolvency system being investigated. The Transition graph is a complete list of trend-based forecasts. The heuristics for determination of the payoff values from the insolvency proceedings applicable to the decision tree tools and the generated transition graphs from trend analyzes are also presented and used in the thesis. A nine-dimensional model serves as a case study. Vague variables are used in models that may have a major impact on the entire insolvency process, eg greed level and political situation.

Mulač, Petr ; Nováková, Štěpánka (advisor) ; Zelenka, Vladimír (referee) ; Váchal, Jan (referee)
The main aim of the presented thesis is to analyse the quality assurance system and principles of financing the professionally oriented public tertiary educational sector in the Czech Republic and to evaluate a connection between financing and quality results of institutions. Within the framework of the set goal the theoretical part contains a list of theoretical knowledge and approaches. Some sectional aims are subordinated to the main aim of the thesis, which helps to determinate the whole structure of the dissertation. Special attention has been paid to models of quality assurance, system and principles of financing the professionally oriented public tertiary educational sector in selected EU countries and in the Czech Republic and key public and private sources of higher education financing. When compared different countries show substantial differences in its usage. The important part of the thesis is a study of implementation a link between quality results and financing the schools in chosen EU countries and in the Czech Republic. This analysis includes evaluation of income items of public higher schools' budgets and their impact to factor of quality. The objective of the thesis is to describe and analyse the existing model of financing the public tertiary educational sector in the Czech Republic and define important principles which are there applied. There are also mentioned strengths and weakness of current financing model after which possible ways of modification to more fair and efficient allocation of public recourses are discussed. The above mentioned essential information is the base to be used in the analytical part of the dissertation, chiefly for the suggestion of main financing criteria's for non-university public tertiary educational sector in the Czech Republic.
