Approaching the concept of Sublime in the context of Visual Perception
Kopová, Julie ; Chavalka, Jakub (advisor) ; Váša, Ondřej (referee)
Approaching the concept of Sublime in the context of Visual Perception In this thesis, I will discuss the concept of the feeling of the phenomenon of "the sublime" in the context of visual perception. Starting with Burke and Kant's classification of the sublime, I will gradually move on to other authors such as F. Nietzsche, J.F. Lyotard and Georges Bataille. The different approaches are illustrated and accompanied by selected abstract works. The main intention of the text is to outline the various understandings and conceptions of the concept and their development. Key words sublime, visual perception, abstract art, Bataille, Burke, Kant, Lyotard, Nietzsche
The Phenomenon NFT in the Czech Republic: The Work of Art in Connection with Modern Technology
Červenková, Dana ; Řehořová, Irena (advisor) ; Váša, Ondřej (referee)
This diploma thesis titled "The Phenomenon NFT in the Czech Republic: The Work of Art in ConnectionwithModern Technology" first provides the basic facts and information about the virtual worldand the terms linked with. Then the work focuses on the history of the NFT and the connection of the NFT with the world of art. The main goal of the thesis is to show the possibilities of work with NFT in the world of art with the primary focus on the Czech Republic. In this sense the thesis focuses on a particular projects, exhibitions, auctions and galleries, which are working in the Czech Republic with the NFT in various ways. In this context the thesis does not focus onlyon digital art and digital artists, but tryingtogo beyond this limits of understandingandtryingtoexplainalsothe traditional andclassical institutions and art, which are working withthis phenomenonin various ways. The thesis gives evidence of a particular NFT works on interviews, which accompanies it. Interviews transcriptions are part of the thesis Attachment. These interviews also accompany the thesis with quotations, which were selectedwith regardto the topics of the thesis. The whole thesis tries to map the situationaroundNFT in the Czech Republic, that has not been done to this extent before. Differential equations with eigenvalue in boundary conditions
Váša, Ondřej ; Kaplický, Petr (advisor) ; Pokorný, Milan (referee)
The goal of this thesis was to study Stokes problem with eigenvalue in bound- ary condition. We were in particular interested in determining the asymptotic be- haviour of the sequence of eigenvalues. We approached this problem by modifying techniques used in several papers studying asymptotic behaviour of eigenvalues in boundary condition for Steklov problem and we wanted to conclude similar re- sults. Firstly, we introduced some theoretical results yielding that the eigenvalue sequence of the problem is corresponding to an eigenvalue sequence of a certain compact and self-adjoint operator. Next, we explicitly calculated precise asymp- totic behaviour of eigenvalues of auxiliary problems on simple domains, however, due to technical difficulties, we were only able to do in two and three dimensions. Finally, by using Min-max Theorem, we managed to get estimates of eigenvalues of the original problem on any bounded C2 domain by eigenvalues of considered auxiliary problems and thus by applying previous results, we managed to prove the desired asymptotic behaviour. 1
Food as Representation: Multimodal Analysis of Food Photos on Czech Instagram
Peschková, Jana ; Váša, Ondřej (advisor) ; Marcelli, Miroslav (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to investigate how food can function as a sign, how it can represent certain values and what connotations can be associated with it. Food is currently a widespread phenomenon that acquires other meanings in addition to its basic biological function. This thesis will focus on investigating how food works within culture and what connotations are associated with it. The analysis is focused on photos of Czech food bloggers. Photos shared on social networks contain more layers of meaning than is apparent at first glance. The thesis is based on visual analysis, it focuses on individual signs, but also on the contradictions that arise as a result of their use. The thesis examines representation, which is why a parallel with the tradition of depicting food in still life is also included here. Other attributes examined in terms of food are the connection with leisure time, social status and gender. The first part of the thesis is devoted to food as a symbol and its placement in the various areas of culture. The central part of the thesis is the analysis. The default method is multimodal analysis of Instagram accounts. The thesis focuses on the Czech environment. Despite the fact that the analysis is based on photos, the context is also taken into account, i.e. the author of the...
the essence of photography in the digital age
Doubek, Zdeněk ; Holeček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Váša, Ondřej (referee)
The diploma thesis solves the question of photography not only from the point of view of a work of art, but as a part of a cultural code. Photography in the digital era has the potential to become a new kind of visual language. From this perspective, the photographic universe reveals several essential questions, which we address here. These questions explore topics such as: historical development of images and text, the difference between traditional images and technical images, the cultural impact of mass production of digital devices and photographs, the essence of photography as a symbol from the point of view of semiotics and logic, the difficulties of deciphering photography, the linguistic aspects of digital photography or the meaning of photography in virtual (public) space. Due to the nature of the monitored topics, the work will address problems mainly related to language, logic, epistemology, human freedom in the context of man/device and marginally also semiotics.
Marketing communication in performing arts
Hájková, Eliška ; Kladný, Tomáš (advisor) ; Váša, Ondřej (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on marketing communications in performing arts. In particular, it concentrates on poster advertising of the Divadlo na Vinohradech. Marketing in art is specific because it must adapt to the artistic goals. Thus, the role of marketing is not to conform to demands of the market but to attract audience to the current offer. The product is firstly made and only then placed on the market. It is possible to base the marketing communication channels on the product itself. In connection with the above mentioned, I tried to reveal what elements - either those which are explicitly shown or the hidden ones - are used on posters for theatre performances. Moreover, I tried to find out whether the posters included traits which are specific for the field of culture and arts. As a tool the semiotic analysis was chosen to examine individual pictures and texts as well as their mutual relationships. Keywords Semiotics, marketing, marketing of culture, communication, verbal and visual communication, picture and text.
