Analysis of Student's Internships and Voluntary Interpreting at the Institute of Translation Studies, Charles University

This thesis contains the analysis of student's interpreting internships and voluntary interpreting in the period between 1990 and 2018, with the focus on the Institute of Interpreting Studies of the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University. The thesis includes an overview of the theoretical literature devoted to this topic, a statistical analysis of the data on the internships held between 1990 and 2019, which was extracted from the reports written by the students as well as the analysis of the students' comments regarding their internships. The thesis examines the trends in the field of student interpreting internships, their chronological evolution as well as the personal opinions of participating students. This bachelor thesis consists of two chapters of the French book Goscinny: Faire rire, quel métier! which informs the reader about the life of the comic books author René Goscinny, his works and his comic books about Asterix. This thesis also consists of an analysis of the source text, which is based on the model created by Christiane Nord, a concept of the translation method and a typology of translation problems and their solutions.
