Calcium signalling in astrocytes under physiological and pathological conditions
Svatoňová, Petra ; Anděrová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Kolář, David (referee)
Calcium signalling in astrocytes represents an important component, which enables proper neuronal functioning under physiological conditions. Alterations in Ca2+ signalling, accompanied by an increase in intracellular calcium levels is a hallmark for numerous pathological states of central nervous system, such as traumatic and ischemic brain/spinal cord injuries, epilepsy as well as neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease and psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia. The research analyzing the molecular components of astrocytic Ca2+ signalling can help us understand the control mechanisms used in calcium signalling and thus be greatly beneficial for further therapeutic research. De novo transcriptomics and its use in non-model organisms
Čalounová, Tereza ; Pluskal, Tomáš (advisor) ; Svatoňová, Petra (referee)
The rise of second generation sequencing enabled the study of non-model organisms. Without the requirement of having a reference genome, de novo transcriptomics allows the study of functional elements of their genomes. That way, the great complexity of non-model organisms can be explored. This thesis gives a comprehensive overview of the de novo transcriptomics experiment workflow from a bioinformatics perspective. The emphasis was placed on both theoretical background and practical approaches. This work also highlights new methods in de novo transcriptomics which may start to dominate in the near future. The practical part of the work presents transXpress - a de novo transcriptome assembly and annotation pipeline. Its use is demonstrated on a non-model plant long pepper (Piper longum) with medicinal potential. Keywords: transcriptomics, de novo transcriptomics, transcriptome, RNA-Seq, non-model organism, assembly
Criminal aspects of domestic violence
Svatoňová, Petra ; Hořák, Jaromír (advisor) ; Vanduchová, Marie (referee)
Domestic violence is a serious social problem that has not received enough attention for a long time. Domestic violence differs from other forms of agression by the fact that it occures in private, behind closed door between people who is close to each other. Violent and threatened peroson are emotionally and materially connected so it is more difficult for the victim to leave the offender. In addition, victims often do not confess with their situation, so it makes domestic violence very latent phenomenon. The aim of this thesis is to clarify domestic violence through its features, forms, causes and profile of the violent and threatend person and to interpret the current effective legal regulation focusing on criminal aspects of substantive and procedural law. This thesis consists of four parts. The introductory chapter defines some basic terms that are related to domestic violence. In particular, the term of domestic violence, key features, the cycle of domestic violence, its forms and causes. In addition, there is defined the profile of violent and threatened person. There are also summarized specific characters in context with women, men, children, seniors and LGBT people. This chapter also describes devastating implications of domestic violence on victims. The second chapter deals with the...

Division rings in coding theory
Svatoňová, Petra ; Žemlička, Jan (advisor) ; Holub, Štěpán (referee)
Wireless communication using multiple transmit and receive antennas is very effective when suitable space-time codes are used. Reliability of codes for com- munication can be assessed using various criteria. One of the basic is the Rank Criterion. In the presented work, we focus on this criterion and using division algebras we construct space-time block codes that satisfy it. First, we introduce the general construction. Then we apply it to create specific examples of division algebras and respective codes. At the end, we follow up with the Coding Gain Criterion - we present the Golden Code and using division algebras we outline general construction of perfect space-time codes.
Men's sexual fantasies
Svatoňová, Petra ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Šivicová, Gabriela (referee)
This study is concerned with men's sexual fantasies content that appears either within partner's sexual lovemaking or during masturbation. Except fantasy description and classifying it also pays attention to the associations with sexual satisfaction. The study results have proved that they appear much more and in higher variety with masturbation. One of the most popular fantasies is lovemaking with the own partner. Most men state one deviant fantasy at least, homosexual fantasy is an ordinary phenomenon even with heterosexual men. From the point of sexual satisfaction some differences have been approved in the fantasy content in contrast with unsatisfied individuals. Sharing mutual fantasy with the own partner has been approved to be very important.
Global pressures on restructuring of automotive industry in EU
Svatoňová, Petra ; Němcová, Ingeborg (advisor) ; Jeníček, Vladimír (referee)
The thesis is concerned with a question, what plays the key role in decision making process about restructuring of production capacities of automotive companies within global process. All of this is running in the background of optimization factors influencing their cost items value. Volkswagen AG, more precisely SKODA AUTO was chosen for behavior analysis introduced as a case study. The goal is to suggest some recommendations for SKODA AUTO to help with achieving sales of 1,5 million cars in 2018 based on global pressures analysis affecting automotive industry and future cost development study in this field. The main benefit of the thesis is the complex cost items analysis resulting in application of the conclusions into SKODA AUTO case in a form of recommendations based on cost reduction.
Export opportunities in the Czech Republic before and after the year 1990
Svatoňová, Petra ; Štěrbová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Trejbal, Jindřich (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to compare export opportunities before and after the year 1990. The year 1990 is characterized as a landmark describing decay of the imaginary border between East and West, beginning of the disintegration of the USSR, the development of liberalisation and globalisation. This thesis deals with the development of the internatinal trade in the Czech Republic including summaries of export relationships inside and outside RVHP, commodity structure of export, pro-export tools, czech state institutions supporting export, development of sectoral opportunities, changes in the list of priority countries, but also new current opportunities for Czech entrepreneurs together with their existing successes.
