Title of disertation work: Motor skills of preschool-age children Author: Zuzana Palounková Department: Special Education Department Supervisor: doc. PhDr. Bohumil Stejskal, CSc. ABSTRACT This dissertation deals with the issues in motor skills in pre-school children. The first part of the dissertation introduces basic theoretical background in relation to motion, refers to developmental stages and principles in motor development, and deals with the functioning of the motor system. Motor ability and skills are defined as basic preconditions for successful motor performance. The issues related to the developmental disorders in coordination (dyspraxia) are also discussed. The present dissertation addresses the problem area of cognitive deficit occurring with clients suffering from schizophrenic illness, using the Domov residential social service running a special treatment scheme (hereinafter referred to only as the "Domov facility "). The cognitive deficit arising as a result of schizophrenia survives even in the illness remise period, and is characterized by decreased abilities in areas such as memory, attention, and executive functions. Contemporary period and situation puts a lot of demands on individual members of the society, especially on their individual using skills and successfulness from one's childhood to adulthood. That is the reason why every society can't risk the potential of its people. Also Czech representatives became aware of this situation. To support talents and abilities of people lots of new projects are arising, f.e. Project Czech Head ("Projekt Česká hlava") which has the part called Little Heads ("Projekt České hlavičky"), organized since 2007 for Czech high-school students of technical and natural science branches. In co- operation of the Czech Senate and Parliamen chairman is also announced the competition for european students called Innovating Minds (since 2008). All the professionals who deal with this problem are aware of the fact that the number of successful members of society raise due to effective support and education of children since the early childhood. Pupils with the exceptional talents, according to the valid Czech law, are placed and classified as the pupils with special needs. Zikl, Pavel ; Titzl, Boris (advisor) ; Stejskal, Bohumil (referee) ; Černá, Marie (referee)
The main topic of my work is comprehensive care for children with multiple disabilities (combination of mental and physical disabilities). The theoreticmethodical part is aimed at used terminology, estimated number of such pupils in our schools and at comprehensive care/rehabilitation. Main stress is put on medical rehabilitation and the possibility of using it at schools (methods of medical rehabilitation used at schools, positioning). In the second part results of research work connected with education and comprehensive care for children with mental and multiple disabilities are presented. They are two separate pieces of research connected together with different methodology used in each of them. The first one is a quantitative research (description and analysis of education of pupils with mental and multiple disabilities integrated in common schools). The second one is a qualitative research (analysis and comparison of education of children with multiple disabilities in special and common schools). The summary and a discussion are at the end of the work.

Key aspects of quality of life for adults with mental disabilities in social care
Thesis is aimed at children; within 5.5 to 6.5 years of age; with disturbed communication ability. The method of critical analysis of scientific sources was used to explain current trends of speech therapy and special education diagnostics and also to explain current possibilities and risks while educating students with disturbed communication ability. Simultaneously, the analysis of the diagnostic process in the advisory service was done. The research was done within a six-year term and included 848 respondents. The results showed that a high amount of students are entering first grade of primary school with disturbed communication ability. An analysis of disturbed communication ability and an analysis of progressive speech therapy diagnostics to map language levels was done. Standardised diagnostic tools including mathematical and statistical methods were used to evaluate the results. The results of this research mapped the communication ability of respondents (age 5,5-6,5 years) and showed the need for improvements in the diagnostic process. The diagnostic process was extended with the addition of speech therapy diagnoses which can uncover deficiencies in language levels were implemented; especially with respondents with health and/or social disadvantage. Results from extended diagnostics are...
Involvement of close people to the treatment of drug users in terms of therapeutic communities
Radimecký, Josef ; Šotolová, Eva (advisor) ; Stejskal, Bohumil (referee) ; Hajný, Martin (referee)
Use of mind-altering substances may result in an array of adverse - especially health and social - consequences not only for drug users but also for their close persons. Help to solve drug use-related problems is provided by various drug services. These however primarily focus on drug users and in the best case perceive their relatives as a significant source of support in order to achieve a change in dependent behaviour of drug consumers. The vast majority of drug services in past didn't take into account the fact that relatives might suffer due to drug use of their family member too, and thus that they might also need specific professional help. The aim of dissertation is 1) to answer the question of whether an involvement of relatives in the process of drug users treatment in therapeutic community might be of benefit not only for residents but also for their close persons, and 2) to introduce a comprehensive model of work with relatives in therapeutic community which has been verified within the inquiry. This has been carried out with the use of predominantly qualitative grounded theory approach. The main data sources were drug users, their relatives, professionals, literature and participative observation of author. Findings suggest that involvement of relatives into the process of treatment of drug...
