Optimization of magnetic nanoparticles for hyperthermia in viscous environments

Jednodoménové superparamagnetické nanočástice oxidu železa hrají významnou roli v magnetické hypertermii, což je slibná terapeutická metoda, která může potenciálně léčit jakýkoli druh nádoru. Je obecně známo, že rakovinné buňky jsou citlivější na zvýšenou teplotu než buňky zdravé. Léčba rakoviny hypertermií se opírá o tuto skutečnost. Aplikace střídavého magnetického pole s frekvencemi o stovkách kHz způsobí rozptyl energie z nanočástic (10-50 nm) do okolní tkáně. Klíčovým parametrem, který určuje účinnost nanočástic, je specifická rychlost absorpce (SAR), která je komplexní funkcí tvaru, velikosti a povlaku těchto částic. Mimo to, je délka expozice AC polem omezena tendencí nanočástic k agregaci při použití in vivo. Cílem této práce je vyvinout protokol syntézy pro přípravu nanočástic oxidů železa o stejné velikosti, které vykazují vysoké hodnoty SAR a dobrou koloidní stabilitu. Nanočástice byly připraveny dvěma typy chemické syntézy, precipitací a tepelným rozkladem, a vliv reakčních podmínek na velikost, tvar a magnetické vlastnosti těchto nanočástic byl pečlivě prozkoumán. Tepelný rozklad se ukázal jako vhodnější varianta pro přípravu jednovelikostních nanočástic oxidů železa, kde byly podrobněji zkoumány zejména nanokrychle typu jádro-obálka. Jejich velikost, stupeň polydisperzity, koloidní stabilita a morfologie byly studovány dynamickým rozptylem světla ve spojení s transmisní a skenovací elektronovou mikroskopií. Fázové složení nanočástic bylo charakterizováno práškovou rentgenovou difrakcí a Mössbauerovou spektroskopií a spektroskopií ztráty energie elektronů. Rentgenová difrakce byla rovněž použita ke studiu fázových transformací v nanočásticích typu jádro-obálka. Jejich magnetické vlastnosti byly zkoumány pomocí vibrační magnetometrie a elektronové holografie. U nanočástic typu jádro-obálka byl posuzován take jejich aplikační potenciál pro použití při magnetické hypertermii, zobrazování technikou MPI a pro použití jako kontrast při magnetické rezonanci. Tato práce rozšiřuje znalosti o nanočásticích oxidu železa v závislosti na velikosti pro biomedicínské aplikace. Výsledky pro 20 nm nanokrychle po úplné fázové transformaci ukazují velmi dobré možnosti ohřevu pro použití při magnetické hypertermii a třikrát vyšší MPI signál ve srovnání s komerčně používaným indikátorem VivotraxTM.

Physical activities in the leisure time of the middle school students in the Usti Region

The theoretical part concerns itself with importance of physical activities in human life, particularly in a child's life, and point out to the risks and problems connected to a sedentary lifestyle. The practical part focuses on physical activities of middle school students in chosen parts of the Usti Region. The questionnaire survey in this part of theses detects the extend of physical activities and differences between children living in bigger and smaller towns. Part of this passage is also mapping of current possibilities of physical activities and sports grounds in this region. Finally, there are several recommended changes presented in the paper that would lead to increase in interest of middle school students in physical activities, namely lowering prices of extracurricular physical activities and increase in amount of school physical activities. The bachelor thesis deals with the theme of medical sociology, especially with the concept of medicalization of society. The first part focuses on the historical development of the medical sociology and describes three main theoretical bases: the functionalist approach, political economy paradigm and social constructivism perspective. Further it describes the theory of medicalization, which appeared in the medical sociology in the late 1960s. Medicalization is defined as the process when originally nonmedical problems are classified and treated as medical ones. This phenomenom is specified in the section dealing with the medicalization of women's health.

The diploma thesis Microbial contamination of honeys in the literature recherche presenting chemical composition of honey, its properties and effects to human health. The major part deal with microbial contamination of honey, characterization of important groups of microorganisms and describing defects of honey produced their activities. Further it shows with possible ways of precaution against these undesirable changes. The experimental part is focused on microbiological analysis and spectrophotometric measurement of floral and honeydew color, purchased directly from beekeepers from the region Vysočina. Investigating changes in numbers of microorganisms and changes color over time.

Understanding the part to whole relationship within primary school pupils of the sixth to ninth grade

This master thesis deals with middle school pupils and their comprehension of Part-whole theory within the area of Mathematics. The theory section is divided into five parts. The first part presents sets of knowledge and skills of lower-secondary school pupils that are essential for completing a particular time period in selected thematic areas of mathematics at primary schools. In the second part, individual stages and mechanisms of cognitive processes needed in Mathematics are determined, and the third part focuses on teaching methods of Mathematics. Among the issues mentioned in this part are for example the difference between formal and informal knowledge or transmissive and constructivist way of teaching. Lastly, the fourth and fifth parts specify various expressions of wholes and their parts. The research part of this paper provides an analysis of interviews with certain teachers that are employing different teaching methods, testing applied on their pupils and also an analysis of the textbooks that are being used by these teachers. The other part of the thesis is the evaluation of the interviews with the selected teachers, what gives us the information about the relationship of the teachers to particular didactic approaches, and the evaluation of the tests taken by pupils including standard...

Monitoring flavonoidních látek ve vybraných druzích medu

This work deals with flavonoid substances contained in honey. The work is to develop a theoretical part, which is focused on the composition of honey, its effects on human health and on the description of flavonoid substances. In the next section of the work is experimental part, which is shown in tables occurrence of phenolic compounds in different types of honey.
