In master thesis I have analyzed in detail the behavior of representatives of Živnostenská banka before and during entire process of Rasin's Monetary Reform (1919). I tried to prove that the bank representatives were closely linked with the political representation and thus were able to act as lobbying group that could pursue their specific interests. In some respects even substituted the role of the state, because of necessary knowledge of national economic and political influence. I have assessed whether corrupt practices were used. As of the described facts, I would draw conclusions to confirm my initial assumptions. To enforce its interests, bank used paradigm of economic nationalism. As a methodological framework I have used the theory of public choice.

Hong Kong Economic Development: From the Beginning of the Reform Process in the PRC to the Creation of the Special Administrative Region of the PRC (1979-1997)
Vilt, Lukáš ; Skřivan, Aleš (advisor) ; Fabianková, Klára (referee)
This work deals with an economic development of Hong Kong between 1979 and 1997 and tries to find the sources and causes of rapid economic growth over this period. Major hypothesis of this paper is that amongst the dominant influences of this economic growth belong low regulations and weak state interventions in the market, which are linked with the size of the public sector and the tax burden, and alternative form of banking. This hypothesis has been partly proven especially in low regulations and taxes, which supported both domestic and foreign trade and enabled the further development of the banking sector. Besides the public sector and the banking, the work also deals with the development of the international trade with the focus on the commercial and financial flows between Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China. In this case the re-export of Chinese goods proved to be the key factor, on which Hong Kong increasingly profited since the half of the eighties. International trade and cooperation with the PRC has even proved as the main sources of the rapid economic growth, which was only supported by other factors.

Němčická, Irena ; Chalupecký, Petr (advisor) ; Skřivan, Aleš (referee)

The hypothesis, that development and expansion of the Baťa company almost eliminated the business owners in this industry, was partly confirmed. The thesis explorers how the pace of trade developed in the years 1921 -- 1928, while comparing the shoemaking, tailor, leather and other trades that were not connected with the Baťa company. It has been also discovered that with the greatest pace fell just the shoemakers and tanners trade around 40%, while the number of other trades increased.
Armament production of Skoda Works in 1930s
Mlsna, Michal ; Skřivan, Aleš (advisor) ; Chalupecký, Petr (referee)
My thesis monitors the evolution of weapons program of Skoda Works during the years 1930 -- 1939. The main goal of this paper is to analyze the evolution of production for the domestic market and for export with regard to economic and political changes during the period and also to compare the response of armament production to peaceful production. From the perspective of foreign customers, special attention is paid to the position of Skoda Works in the states of Little Entente. We can see decline comparable to the decline in the peaceful production during the Great Depression period of the armament production of Skoda Works for Czechoslovak Republic. The foreign production falls more steeply relative to the expressions of Great Depression in states of Little Entente, but on the other hand the recovery comes sooner. The arms production achieves the recovery sooner than the peace production for Czechoslovak Republic. During the second half of the 1930s we can see a rapid growth of the armament production till to sign of the Munich Agreement. The position of Skoda Works at Little Entente states was marked by declaring national bankruptcy and the internal political struggle in these countries at first, the growing economic influence of Germany and also by the economic policy of the Czechoslovak Republic.
The economic development of Manchukuo in 1932-1945
Kolařík, David ; Skřivan, Aleš (advisor) ; Tajovský, Ladislav (referee)
The aim of master thesis is to analyze the economic development of Manchukuo and to answer the question whether the establishment of Manchukuo had positive or negative impact on the economic development of the area. The analysis of the economic development of the region in 1929-1945 proves that the economic impact on the development of the area was positive. Despite an effort to have Manchukuo economically self-sufficient, the region was still very dependent on Japan in both economical and political aspects. However, the comparison of Chinese and Manchukuo's economies shows a higher level of economic development of Manchukuo. The thesis uses the method of the probe and historical-critical method. The conclusions are primarily based on historical and up-to-date literature written by foreign and Czech authors.
