Filip Poštulka ABSTRACT: This work discusses the way the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is presented and explained in the mass media. It focuses on the analysis of the media news on the Israeli- Palestinian conflict, mainly during the Second Intifada. For this purpose, reports from newspapers, radio and television are analysed. The political situation and development of the media since the early state of Israel is briefly outlined. The analysis presents the patterns and structures used by the Israeli, Palestinian and international media to report on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Current Media Image of the Catholic Church in the Czech Lands

The aim of this thesis is to map the position of the Roman Catholic Church in our society and to elucidate the reasons for the Church's loss of ideological influence on the contemporary mainstream. This thesis investigates the interactions of the Church with the media from thefollowing perspectives: The use of media by the Church, the information flow from the Church towards our society and also the quality of the Church's image in the media. Further, this thesisexplains the final form of the social climate of our central-European civilization having the Roman Catholic Church as its background. Also, this thesis aims at clarifying the reasons for the media's tendency to reflect on the Church in particular, and on religion in general, in ahostile way. The contribution of this work is the explanation of the connection between the Church's loss of ideological influence and the loss of its position of power. This work investigates the historical and geopolitical connections with respect to the loss of the Church'spopularity and the number of believers. The Subculture of Tattoo - The Content Analysis of Inked Magazine

The theses named Subculture of a tattoo, Content analysis of a magazine Inked is primary focused on the nowadays phenomenon of a tattoo, there then the whole development of this social subculture. The aim of this thesis is to sum up and analyse the term of subculture, to see in detail the historical beginnings and development of tattooing, to describe functions, motivations and the reasons of an actual act of a tattoo. The main focus will be set on the American lifestyle magazine Inked. I will try to analyse this printed media, which targets on the tattoo subculture, culture itself, style and art. This thesis will characterise the magazine and will basically follow the Inked in two year time period. Which are the years 2009 and 2010, my interest is focused in this theme agenda and its development during this period of time. The researching method will then be a quantitative content analysis. A cultural approach was selected which highlights the way in which the final form of a report and its interpretation is subject to cultural factors. The work draws on the Three Party Model of Communication Situations devised by Winfried Schulz, which models the mutual relationship between the three protagonists of an event - the main figures (representatives of extremist movements), journalists (mass media - Internet sites), and the audience (readership, recipients). Investigation of the possible interest of these three parties in information on extremism is considered on the basis of theories of critics of contemporary media. Marketing as a Kind of Mediation of Economical and Cultural Value System

Diploma thesis "Marketing as a kind of mediation of economy and cultural value system" deals with processes of marketing putting a meaning construction of promoted products based on media theories and mediation which are taken place in society structured by economy and cultural capital. Solution for this point of view of meaning construction mediation in as like complex social-cultural acts was splitting and abstracting mediation process into the individual levels of mediation with specific aspects, incomes and outcomes. This abstraction makes possible to describe quality coming in touch. We defined mediation on the mind level, technology level and institution level. Thesis introduce asymmetric relation between individual and economy and cultural capital owner, mythology system of putting meaning construction of promoted products and media and economy capital influence on this kind of mediation.
Corporate Logo of Starbucks and its Semiological Analysis

This thesis focus on semiological analysis of selected corporate logo. Logos are part of the corporate identity and they are surrounding us all the time. Our society is overloaded with logos and that is main reason why logo has to be well remembered, easily recognized and connected with the brand. Logo is a conjunction of graphic design and marketing strategies. From the semiological point of view, this thesis is based on Roland Barthes's theories, although incorporating marketing basics and marketing semiotics take on this problem. Within the practical part the logo analyzed using denotation, connotation and myth. Researched brand is US coffee chain Starbucks, which is one of the most successful coffee companies worldwide. Digitization and its impact on the print media. Case study of selected Czech periodicals.

This thesis deals with the influence of digitization and electronic media on print media. It shows the progress of development of the digital, its constant growth and transformation of getting public information, especially by particular theories of Marshall McLuhan, Jay David Bolter, Richard Grusin, Alessandro Ludovico and another authors dealing with the issues of media and digitization. The thesis shows a brief media development and the largest part is devoted to the digitization and remediation of the media. The central part is assessing the impact of digitization and the advent of electronic media on print media. It is shown how the print media deal with digitization. In the practical part of my work, it should find out how the print titles of the Czech market are, how are they affected by increasing digitization of media and how they try to deal with this aspect of trying to cope. All of these issues are shown in three cases, the daily newspapers Mladá Fronta DNES, Lidové noviny and Hospodářské noviny, which are the ones of the most important media in Czech republic, which have their printed version, with which they began. Postmodernism and marketing. Community marketing

This thesis focuses on the definition of the term postmodern marketing in the area of marketing literature. The postmodern marketing aims adaptation of innovative marketing strategies to specific changes in society and consumer behavior. In this context, there are introduced concepts as tribality, hyperreality, fragmentation or increased activity during the perception of consumers etc., in order to demonstrate described changes. Because the postmodern marketing is closely linked to the symbolism and meanings of consumption, this thesis includes the application of specific semiotics approaches and brand development with an emphasis on the fact that the brand itself is made up of sum of aspects, such as the logo or products, but its value is also constructed by meanings with which consumers associate the brand. The next part is devoted to community marketing and communication via social networking sites such as progressive approach that is able to connect the issues of the previous chapters (reaction to changes in society and consumers' requirements and space for the construction of the symbolic value of the brand).
