The Process of Cross Section Generation for Reactor Core Simulations
Novotný, Filip
Reactor core safety analysis is a complex problem and needs processed input data and cannot be performed without it. For this purpose several nuclear programs exist. A suitable nuclear programs as well as the motivation of the generation are given in this study. This article also summarizes methods and steps needed for the homogenized cross-section generation and provides basic instruction and settings needed to provide these simulations and accomplished this research and gives basic instruction and information about problems and programs which can occur during the cross-section generation. Finally, there is proposed cross-sections structure suitable for safety analysis with reactor core simulator PARCS.
Are Cryptocurrencies Gambling Asset?
Novotný, Filip ; Krištoufek, Ladislav (advisor) ; Kuc, Matěj (referee)
Cryptocurrencies are newly emerging asset class that has received a lot of at- tention recently. Many investors are considering investing in them as a way of portfolio diversification. This thesis examines whether cryptocurrencies are gambling assets which could be important for investors' decision making and also for better understanding of the cryptocurrencies themselves. Gambling asset is understood in terms of stocks and therefore a comparison of crypto- currency and stock lottery characteristics is made. It is shown that in most time periods it cannot be said that cryptocurrencies exhibit larger lottery characteristics. Furthermore, it is shown that Litecoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Dash and Monero would classify as gambling asset, however, Bitcoin would not. Safety of the fuel stored in water pool
Mičian, Peter ; Novotný, Filip (referee) ; Foral, Štěpán (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with storing the spent nuclear fuel and reviewing its safety. The theoretical part analyzes the processes taking place while the fuel is being used, such as fission, isotopic changes, fission gas release, cracking, swelling and densification of fuel pellet. The thesis is also focused on handling the spent fuel and on the way it makes from the reactor, through the spent fuel pool, the transportation, various kinds of storing, till the reprocessing and final deep geological repository. Furthermore, this part of the thesis briefly discusses computing code MCNP, its main characteristics, input files and using. The practical part of the work is focused on creating the model of the spent fuel pool located next to the nuclear reactor WWER 440/V213. This type was chosen, because it is the most used type of nuclear reactor in Czech Republic and Slovakia. With the help of the code MCNP, the multiplication factor of the main configurations of the fuel in the pool was calculated, and then the required safety regulations to ensure sufficient subcriticality, so its safety, were checked. Next, several analysis were performed using this model. These analyses were concerning the temperature of coolant, fuel and the use of various nuclear data libraries. In the future this model can be used to realize new analyses with new kinds of fuels, materials and data libraries.

The possibility of measuring social exclusion of homeless
Novotný, Filip ; Koldinská, Kristina (referee)
The thesis (rigorous work) is engaged in possibilities of displaced persons social exclusion measurement and was created on the recommendation of the Examination Board by extending and supplementing the diploma thesis. The first chapter contains definitions of terms used in the thesis. The following chapter comprises abriged and modified translation of methodology manual of Indicators of poverty and social exclusion, so-called Laeken indicators. In the third chapter there is described role of the Czech Statistical Office from the perspective of Law on State Statistic Service and in relation with homelessness. The next chapter describes history of homelessness, its typology and several aspects of different social science disciplines. The thesis is supplemented by the approach to homelessness in the 70s of the last century in the context of the crime of subsistence. The last chapter describes selected social transfers provided in the Czech Republic and designed tool for measurement of social exclusion resulting in an index of relative social exclusion.
The visual image of Czech public figure suicide in print media
Novotný, Filip ; Lábová, Alena (advisor) ; Osvaldová, Barbora (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the media image of Czech public figure suicide in print media. Selected for analysis were the deaths of actor Vlastimil Brodský, composer Karel Svoboda, and singer Iveta Bartošová. The media to analyze are Blesk, a leading Czech tabloid, Mladá fronta DNES, a popular middlebrow newspaper, and Lidové noviny, commonly considered a serious, reputable daily. The goal of this paper is to compare the approaches amongst the selected media to the depiction of public figures and the sensitive issue of suicide, and secondly, to demonstrate the eventual progressional change thereof. Should a clear difference be proven to exist, this paper might also - as a secondary goal - become a minor contribution to the discussion concerning the supposed tabloidization of Czech media. Research and Development of Generation IV. reactors with an Emphasis on Molten Salt Reactors
Slančík, Tomáš ; Novotný, Filip (referee) ; Katovský, Karel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis reviews the particular generations of nuclear reactors from the first prototypes to nowadays advanced reactors. It also provides an overview of projects supporting development of IV. generation of nuclear reactors. The main part describes the selected reactors of generation IV by the Generation IV International Forum, focusing on molten salt reactors. The last chapter is devoted to a practical part of bachelor thesis focused on simulated calculation of neutron flux in various salts using MCNP program.
Analysis of the innovated nuclear fuel with FEMAXI code
Čásar, Ondřej ; Novotný, Filip (referee) ; Foral, Štěpán (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with modification of source code of program FEMAXI 6 and subsequent analysis of composite nuclear fuel based on SiC admixture. First part introduces the entire open fuel cycle, from the start of the mining to the final disposal of the nuclear waste. The following part describes physical processes in the fuel, especially the processes associated with the low thermal conductivity of classical uranium oxide ceramic pellets, contains the description of the temperature calculations in the pellet and the analysis of the thermal conductivity coefficient including the influences affecting its size. One part of the thesis is an analysis of selected composite fuels increasing the thermal conductivity and introduction of a computational program for FEMAXI 6 nuclear fuel analysis, including its structure, implementation of equations and description of the input file. In the practical part, one can find a description of performed program modifications, comparison with other computational programs and analysis of possible composite nuclear fuel for Dukovany NPP.
The indicators of poverty and social exclusion ("Laeken indicators")
Novotný, Filip ; Tomeš, Igor (advisor) ; Zelenková, Hana (referee)
This bachelor work is engaged in the indicators of poverty and social exclusion. It is focused on establishment of the indicators, their definitions and algorithms they are calculated. The first chapter displays indicators as instruments of social policy realisation. The next one describes the process before the indicators were established and the point when they have been established. The third chapter - the longest - comprises definitions and categorisation of the indicators. Moreover, it is practical part of the work, because this chapter is the indicators of poverty and exclusion detailed calculation methodology manual rendered from English into Czech. Following - the fourth chapter - is focused on essentiality and nonessentiality and redundance of information while measurement of social reality. The next chapter displays how the indicators might be used in the Czech Republic. The sixth one is focused on indicators establishing necessity justification. The last chapter describes possibilities and value of indicators dispersion both square and in number.
