Mass culture in media: reality show

My thesis contains the description and analysis of mass culture in media with focus on phenomenon ofrecent years - reality show. In first part I define the idea ofmass culture in general. I was interested, how the mass culture is perceived by some chosen authors. Its negatives and positives. Its impact on society. In the second part I payed attention to the definition of mas s communication, which helps to spread mass culture. I have described the instruments of mas s comunication - press, tv, movies. One ofthe main contributions ofthe thesis is describtion ofthe reality show "Vyvolení". I used it as an example ofmass culture in media. I tried to define it from various points ofview. For example the impact on viewer or the selection of contenders. The goal of my thesis was to explain the function and the impact of mas s culture in media.

A question of cultural identity of Czech minority group in south Ukraine

Object of this work is an effort to reach the understanding of cultural identity phenomenon through the process of its formation and sustentation in a different ethnical background. The phenomenon such as ethnic group, nation or culture are tigtly adherent to conditions they rise from and sink. For that reason also ethnic, national and cultural identity are legally adherent to conditions in which their holders live . Main factors implicating the preservation of the cultural identity at czech minority group in south Ucraine are particularly the positive economic situation, contact with the authentic culture and country of origine and positive valuation of czech culture.

Development of the Czech language in context of socio-cultural changes with emphasis on current state

This dissertation focuses on the language as a part of the cul ture. In the theoretical part it describes speech and language as such, deals with one of the most fundamental ethno-linguistic theories - the Sapir-Whorf theory of linguistic relativism, which describes the relation of language and thought. It follows the development of the Czech language in the broader context of socio-cultural changes stressing the periods of our history that have influenced it profoundly. It mentions the work of the prague Linguistic Circle and the Institute of Czech Language. However, it mainly deals with the state of the Czech language in the recent years when it is going through pronounced changes mainly in the area of lexicology and when the whole language structure is changing. The thesis compares the language of different professions, so cal led slangs (of journalists, employees of promotion agencies, computer experts), and describes coining of new words. It addresses the contemporary phenomenon of electronic media that have profound influence upon the language. It further describes the two different points of view concerning the language development - the conservative and the liberal. The problematic of the culture in Ostrava (the opimon of professionals)

Záměrem této práce je nastínit obraz kultury a kulturních významů, které tvoří současné město Ostrava a přilehlý širší region, specifický genius loci a jeho vytváření, a to zmínkou o historii města, dále pomocí vybraných kulturních prvků, ale především provedeného průzkumu mezi odbornou veřejností z oblasti kultury, který má za cíl pokusit se zmapovat jaký má a může mít kultura v současné době v tak specifickém městě, jako je Ostrava, význam a v jakém stavu jsou ostravské kulturní instituce. Historii zmíním od prvního osídlení v oblasti, první písemné zmínky a následný vývoj ve středověku až po význam industriální revoluce na konci 18. a především v 19. století. V tomto významném období se pokusím nastínit hlavní migrační pohyby a nálady obyvatel a jejich motivace, zmíním demografický vývoj oblasti Ostravska se specifickým způsobem bydlení a zvyky imigrantů, kteří přicházeli do tohoto regionu. Poukáži na významné, především stavební a městotvorné počiny v období tzv. první republiky, dále v období po roce 1948, pro srovnání rovněž spíše z hlediska urbanistického, až do ukončení těžby uhlí a výroby železa na území města Ostravy. Domnívám se, že tyto elementy kultury, které měly nebo mají pro město zásadní význam, pomohou v této diplomové práci syntézou vytvořit jako mozaika určitý vjem a povědomí o městě....

The term od culture in work of Václav Černý

Ve své diplomové práci se pOkusím o interpretaci některých myšlenek v díle literárního vědce a kritika, profesora Václava Černého. Mám za to, že se jedná o poměrně originální myšlenkovou soustavu, zvláště v českém prostředí, která zajímavým zpusobem přesahuje i do oboru, který na filozofické fakultě studuji. Proč? Víc než pro většinu jiných osobností je právě kultura v Černého díle chápana nejen jako soubor uměleckých artefaktu (s ohledem na jeho zaměření převážně literárních), ale často má rozměr kulturně antropologický, jak, doufám, doložím ve své práci. Tímto antropologickým rozměrem rozumím soubor otázek či postulátu, které si člověk klade v souvislosti se svojí existencí na světě. Stává se typem přemýšlení nad životním posláním a smyslem lidského života. Něco obdobného, dle mého názoru, představoval Černého přítel - Jan Patočka - v kontextu české filozofie. U Patočky se filozofie, stejně jako u Černého kultura, nestala jenom souborem myšlenek a tezí, ale především životním postojem. Ano, duvodem mi tedy zustává i to, že Václav Černý zustal celý život věrný základním imperativum, na kterých svoje chápaní kultury a člověka vystavěl. Větší část života byl právě pro tento zásadový postoj nejruznějším zpusobem perzekuován.

Relation between the Czech and German culture. Folk culture of the Northern Pilsen region

This diploma work is focused on the relationship between Czech and German folk culture in the Northern Pilsen region. In the first part we treat with inhabitation and structurizing of space in general paying special attention to one' s living in cultural landscape. In the second part we follow history of german settlement in Czechia, Moravia and Silesia. We highlight the most important events in this history presenting the milestones to the czech and german national interaction. Third part deals with history of Northern Pilsen region and also with history of both Czech and German nation in this region. In the fifth chapter we introduce the brief history of the folk costume, explain what it is and the we pay our attention to the Czech a German folk costume in the Northern Pilsen region separatelly. Next part describes folk architecture in the landscape close to the town of Plasy, Kralovice and Manětín. The final chapter of this diploma work is about small village chapels, sacellums, crosses and other diminutive relics of folk architecture in the region.

Regional culture and the role of elites

Předmětem této rigorózní práce byl vztah lokálních elit a regionu, k němuž přísluší, nahlížený s ohledem na jejich specifické vlastnosti - v tomto případě demonstrovaný na příkladu chodského regionu a jeho duchovního vudce Jindřicha Šimona Baara. V teoretické části práce jsme se pokusili zasadit ruzné aspekty života a díla této významné osobnosti, přesahující rámec lokálního významu, do souvislostí s historickým a kulturním vývojem chodského regionu. Duraz byl kladen také na rozbor jednotlivých odvětví chodské lidové kultury, jako jsou lidové tradice a zvyky, nářečí, kroje či hudba a tanec; pozornost věnujeme i popisu současného stavu folklóru v regionu. Teoretickou část doplňuje empirické šetření, které má za úkol prokázat životnost odkazu osobnosti Baarova formátu v rámCi regionální kultury a poodhalit některé detaily každodenního života v místě. Srovnávací výzkum, prováděný v Praze, zdurazňuje specifičnost vztahu obyvatel vybraného regionu k nejvýraznějšímu zástupci lokální elity. Tato práce si neklade za cíl detailně analyzovat veškeré aspekty života konkrétního "duchovního vudce" či podat vyčerpávající přehled folklóru a lidové kultury regionu. Její snahou je najít souvislosti mezi vlivem regionálně významné osobnosti Baarova formátu a prožíváním vnitřní identity a integrity obyvatel zkoumaného...
