On the Use of Articles in German, English and Czech

The thesis deals with the use of articles in German, English and Czech. In the theoretical part the characteristics of German and English article, its varieties and historical development is introduced, and one chapter is dedicated to the existence of potential article in Czech. Further the usage of the articles in German and English is described, primarily with the abstracta. In the practical part ten selected abstracta will be analysed. For the analyses the cases in which there are different articles will be crucial. The occurrence and function of Czech demonstrative and indefinite pronouns that evince certain similarities of an article will be also examined.
On the TEKAMOLO rule in the modern German language

This bachelor thesis researches the problems of the usage of the TEKAMOLO rule, which determines the sequence of the Adverbials in a German sentence. Its main aim is to make an attempt to give an exact definition of this rule and also to determine the conditions under which it can be used in the communication. The thesis is divided in two parts: a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part there are some explanations of the TEKAMOLO rule given which can be found in textbooks and grammars of the German language and some terms explained which are related with this rule. The practical part has primarily to show how the native speakers and those who study German as foreign language understand the rule. Then there are some further aspects mentioned which affect the word order and which can modify the sequence of Adverbials determined by the TEKAMOLO rule.

Grimmelshausenuv Dobrodruzny Simplicius Simplicissimus vydany v roce 1668 (s datem 1669) se do kanonu svetove literatury zapsal jako pikareskni roman. Jednim z duvodu, proc tato kniha dokaze oslovit ctenare i po vice nez 300 letech od sveho vzniku, je bezpochyby obdivuhodna vYznamova hloubka a dejova pest rost dfla, jez u ctenare muze navodit dojem neprebernosti a mnohoznacnosti autorem pouzitych prvku. Tato diplomova prace se zabyva kompozicnimi principy uplatnujicfmi se v teto knize. I kdyz se v dnesni dobe v praxi jiz mnohdy osvedcila uzitecnost pristupu naratologickeho, k nemuz vytvoril predevsim G. Genette prakticke instrumentarium, a tento pristup by se mohl nabizet i zde, ma prace se od nej vedome odklanf. Po strucne zmfnce starsfch pokusu 0 uchopeni domnele tektonicke struktury Simplicissima a nastinu nejdulezitejsich tendenci vyzkumu v nazfranf tohoto dfla byla formulovana zdejsf vYchozf pozice. Hlavnf vychodisko spocfvalo v uvaze, ze metoda analyzy by se mela prizpusobit zkoumanemu, ne naopak. Commented translation: Lucas or our way to CI

The aim of these theses is to translate a part of the book Lukas, oder unser Weg zum CI from the German original into Czech, to make a translation analysis and comment on the translation. The work consists of two main parts: the translation and the commentary on the translation. The second part is than divided into translation analysis based on the model by Christiane Nord and translation problems and shifts.
On the use of correlates of German and Czech verbs

This bachelor thesis deals with the use of correlates of German and Czech verbs. First the theoretical part sums up the knowledge about correlates in form of pronouns es, das, dessen, dem and in form of pronominal adverbs, afterwards the Czech equivalents of correlates called correlativa are described. In both cases attention is payed to forms, functions, obligatoriness, optionality and position of correlates and correlativa. The practical part focuses on the analysis of the concrete language examples from the parallel corpus InterCorp and on the basis of these examples it explore and concludes in which way the use of correlates in German is coincident with the use of correlativa in Czech.

This Bachelor thesis deals with translation of text excerpted from a German book called Stille Hilfe für braune Kameraden (Silent assistance for brown comrades). The subject of translation is chapter named Der Fall Anton Malloth (The Case Anton Malloth). The thesis focuses not only on the translation, but also on the description of the translation process itself. The translated text forms about half of the thesis. The second part consists of commentary consisting of source text analysis and typology of translation issues that the translator was confronted with.
