Ability to Discriminate Floral Morphotypes by Hoverflies
Matoušková, Eva ; Janovský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Klečka, Jan (referee)
The attractiveness of flowers to pollinators is mediated by several floral traits. The ability to discriminate the flowers based on these floral traits is crucial for the flower reproduction and pollinator nutrition and reproduction. We tested three floral traits - colour, size and shape - along with their combinations using artificially 3D printed flowers on model organism Eristalis tenax in laboratory conditions. Our findings revealed that the most important floral trait was the colour followed by size. Additionally, the effect of colour was enhanced by size, but only for the preferred colour. This suggests that preferences for specific floral traits can be structured. The effect of symmetry was not significant. Subsequently, we observed non-naïve hoverflies and bumblebees in the field on flower patch consisting of devil's-bit scabious (Succisa pratensis). We were interested in the role of other floral traits when the colour and size were indistinguishable. The most important characteristics were height and effective number of florets in the inflorescence. The hoverflies tend to do longer visits than bumblebees and visited more flowers as well. Conversely, bumblebees did shorter but more efficient visits, likely due to their eusociality. Keywords: Syrphidae, Apidae, Eristalis tenax, Bombus spp.,...
Pollinator movement and orientation at small spatial scales
Matoušková, Eva ; Janovský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Tropek, Robert (referee)
Pollination is interesting andcomplex interaction between insects and plants which is essential for a wide spectrum of plants and animals. Hoverflies (Diptera: Syrphidae) and bees (Hymenoptera: Anthophila) are one of the most common pollinators in the Central Europe and are mostly involved in pollination of local plants. To maintain pollination, it is necessary the movement of pollinator from one flower of a specific species to another flower of the same species. This movement is affected by a number of factors based on both the environmental and pollinator traits. The aim of this work is to explore the nature of traits affecting pollinator flight between plants on small spatial scales, to classify the knowledge about the influence of pollinator and ambient effects to compare the differences between hoverflies and bees and suggest further possible fields of research. Keywords: pollination, hoverflies, bees, Syrphidae, Anthophila, movement

A person with diagnosis of Asperger Syndrom and his education
Matoušková, Eva ; Švandová, Martina (advisor) ; Komárková, Tereza (referee)
The main ideas behind this thesis include introducing the characteristics of the disorder known as Asperger syndrome, searching for help for individuals with this disability, looking at their engagement in society, and also helping teachers prevent and deal with existing conflicts. After a short introduction of pervasive developmental disorders, I focused on Asperger syndrome. I concentrated on the issue of communication, its abnormalities, and the concept and modes of communication in the disabled. At the same time, I tried to indicate possible ways to educate people with Asperger's. The thesis also looks at inclusion, its conditions and forms. At the end of this part, I outline ways to organize education and chart the education of teaching staff in the field of pervasive developmental disorders. The empirical part looks into teachers' awareness of the disorder, describes education of individuals with Asperger's in practice, and suggests ways to organize education of people with the syndrome.

Education of individuals with Asperger syndrome
Matoušková, Eva ; Počtová, Lenka (advisor) ; Volf, Petr (referee)
The basic idea of the present study is to acquaint people with Asperger syndrome, which belong to the autism spectrum disorders. The aim was to insight into the mind of individuals with this diagnosis, the effort to understand their thinking so that we can integrate these individuals to the fullest extent of assistance to participate in society. From another point of view, this paper can also help teachers and educators to prevent conflicts or resolve them. My primary aim is to create a file that clarifies and familiarizes readers with a pervasive developmental disorder Asperger syndrome, it will help them in working with individuals with this disability. I tried to find specific forms of communication, specific words, phrases, when, where, how or what to use, find specific ways of dealing with individuals with this condition. The thesis is structured into five parts to affect the fundamental issues of education for individuals with Asperger syndrome. In the first chapter I try to summarize knowledge about autism in general, the second will focus on the description of disability Asperger syndrome. In the third section I focus on the question about communication, its variations, the concept of communication in case of disabled individuals and the possible ways of communication with the affected...

Specific features of nursing care provided to members of the Church of Scientology.
MATOUŠKOVÁ, Eva
The Church of Scientology was officially registered in Los Angeles in 1954. It is present in more than 150 countries of the world, and is professed by over 8 million people. The founder of the movement is the American author of science fiction and fiction, Laffayete Ron Hubbard, who conducted research in the sphere of the human spirit, summarised in his books "Dianetics". Later on, he focused his research on spiritual beings and their abilities. This gave rise to an applicable religious philosophy - Scientology. It has not been possible to register the Church of Scientology officially in the Czech Republic so far, and therefore it acts as the civil association of "Dianetické centrum" (the Dianetic Centre). The number of its members and sympathisers in this country is not very high, reaching approximately 800 persons. Still, it is important for us to know the differences of this minority, to be able to provide its members with nursing care corresponding to their specific needs. This subject is dealt with by the multi-cultural nursing care studying cultures and religions from the point of view of nursing practice. In connection with globalisation, this subject becomes even more topical. The national, cultural and ethnic structure of the population undergoes gradual changes and the number of foreigners legally residing in the territory of the Czech Republic keeps growing. For this reason, it is important even for nurses to be prepared and have at least the minimum knowledge of multi-cultural / trans-cultural nursing care that will enable them to provide adequate nursing care respecting the specifics in question. The objective of my thesis is to get to know the specific features of nursing care provided to members of the Church of Scientology and to establish the specific features of their life style. To meet the objectives, I set five research questions. Research question 1: Do members of the Church of Scientology have specific needs when they are being provided nursing care? Research question 2: What is the attitude of members of the Church of Scientology to the health care provided in the Czech Republic? Research question 3: Do members of the Church of Scientology have specific spiritual needs? Research question 4: What attitude do members of the Church of Scientology have towards their health? Research question 5: Do members of the Church of Scientology have a specific life style? To collect data for fulfilling my research objectives and obtaining answers to the research questions, I applied the method of qualitative research. To conduct the qualitative research I used the technique of a semi-structured interview with the members of the Church of Scientology attending the Dianetic Centre in Prague. The interview contained altogether 46 questions divided into four areas, and the participants were four men and four women of different ages and different lengths of being members of the Church. The qualitative examination established the main and most distinct specific feature in providing nursing care to members of the Church of Scientology, which is maintaining silence at the time when human mind is weakened. Further, the research showed that scientologists respect physicians and do not exclude them in cases of accidents or danger of life. They normally undergo preventive examinations and do not object to being vaccinated provided that they are supplied with sufficient information. The only exception is psychiatry. Being provided with assists constitutes the only spiritual need, and the Church of Scientology has no specifics in terms of diet. This thesis may be used as a study material for general nurses and students of nursing studies, to expand knowledge in the field of multi-cultural / trans-cultural nursing care, which will facilitate providing culture-specific nursing care to members of this religious minority.
