Unemployment in European Union

Interaction between literature and film in Manuel Puig's novel
Lašťovková, Lucie ; Housková, Anna (advisor) ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (referee)
In the thesis "Interaction between literature and film in Manuel Puig's novel" we attempted to present a brief research of a possible relation between literature and film in the novel "Boquitas pintadas". The objective of this work was to answer the question whether there is some kind of interaction or interrelation between these two artistic forms and how this interaction is being showed. In the first part of this work we tried to define relation between literature and film in general focusing on their diverse means of expression which can be used for representing the concrete features. In this connection we sketched the possible ways of expression and we tried to find out whether the literature and film differ intrinsically. In this part we also investigated the influence of the film on Manuel Puig's writing in general. We mentioned the literary critics and the author's opinions about whether this influence is present or not in Puig's novels, as far as the formal elements (the narrator, characters description, dialogue) as well as the thematic elements (sentimental motives, melodrama) are concerned. In the main part of this work we focused on Puig's novel "Boquitas pintadas" and the study of the artistic means of expression which had been presented in the previous part. We gave a brief characteristic of...
Fictional worlds in video games
Laštovková, Lucie ; Šisler, Vít (advisor) ; Trhoň, Ondřej (referee)
The thesis deals with studies of fictional worlds in videogame. It uses a literary theory of fictional worlds which is based on philosophical and logical theory of possible worlds. There are used three main definitions of fictional worlds which provide a base for an understanding the term within literary science alongside with a characterization of its many attributes. The thesis poses a question if fictional worlds maintain their characteristics when applied on videogames. Moreover, the thesis aims to analyze the form of fictional worlds in videogames with a utilization of combining a formal analysis of gameplay and a textual analysis. For this purpose, the findings of other ludologists are researched, used, and summarized in a detailed literature review. Therefore, by comparing their findings with the literary theory the thesis defines characteristics and basic structure of fictional worlds in videogames. Finally, these findings are demonstrated on examples. The thesis is concluded by suggestions for other utilizations of research of fictional worlds in game studies.
Fictional worlds in video games
Laštovková, Lucie ; Šisler, Vít (advisor) ; Pýcha, Čeněk (referee)
The vast majority of videogames is consisting of fiction. One of the ways of approaching fiction is the literary theory of fictional worlds. However, this begs a question if we would be able to use this theory. The purpose of our thesis is to determine how literary theorists define fictional worlds. Furthermore, we will look at the way that this concept is used by ludologists and how they work with it. If our hypothesis, that we can apply this theory to videogames, will be confirmed, then we investigate how those worlds are different from the literary ones. Then, with the help from the acquired knowledge, we will conduct case studies on selected games. Finally, we will demonstrate how researching of fictional worlds can be profitable for game studies and how to utilize the theory more.
