The Rise of Populism in the Countries of Southern Europe after the Economic Crisis of 2008

This work explores the relationship between the economic crisis of 2008 and the rise of populism in Southern European countries. The study employs a method of literature review, analysis of sociological data on the impact of the economic crisis, and an examination of successful populist parties in selected Southern European states. In the first part of the work, populism and economic crisis are defined, followed by an exploration of the relationship between these two concepts and possible methods for dating the rise of populism. The subsequent section characterizes the Southern European region and specific selected countries, namely Greece, Spain, and Italy. The focus is primarily on their structural problems that may be linked to the growth of populism. In the main part of the work, the impacts of the economic crisis on the selected states are analyzed, initially from an economic and social perspective and subsequently from a political standpoint. The concluding section of the work zooms in on the rise of populism in the selected states. Using the examples of the three most successful populist parties - Greek SYRIZA, Spanish Podemos, and the Italian Five Star Movement - the study seeks common denominators for their ascent. Negotiating Identity: Second Generation of Lithuanian Immigrants in Great Britain

This diploma thesis explores the negotiation of identity among second generation Lithuanian immigrants in the UK and aims to find out how children of migrants reflect the life between the two worlds and cultures - whether they identify more with the culture and lifestyle of the destination country, maintain a Lithuanian identity for the sake of their family members, or develop a so-called third culture. The first part of the thesis serves as a theoretical framework and focuses on several key themes - the theory of migration is introduced, in which the emphasis is put on the history and present of Lithuanian emigration and also on the theory of transnational migration; the concept of identity is discussed, which is viewed from several perspectives - national, transnational, social or ethnic identities are presented, and last but not least, the theory of third culture children and their identity; and the process of socialisation and its specifics are also discussed. The analytical part is then a case study of members of the second generation of Lithuanian migrants in the UK and presents an analysis of their perception of their own identity. Parenthood in lesbian families

This bachelor thesis deals with same-sex parenting among lesbian couples and its process. In the Czech Republic, it is possible for same-sex couples to enter into a registered partnership, although there is no option of starting families with children together under the same legal protection that heterosexual couples have. On the contrary, there is no legislation concerning this issue. That is why, although same-sex parenting is not explicitly banned, the state and society show no basic degree of acceptance of this alternative family form. That puts lesbian couples into unique circumstances, which they encounter on their way to and during parenthood. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the current situation of lesbian families in the Czech Republic using available literature and other sources. The thesis discusses the topics of the perception of homosexuality and same-sex parenting in the Czech society, the means of obtaining custody of a child and which ones are available, and what accompanying problems lesbian couples deal with on their way to parenthood. Teaching about Disinformation. On Media Education in the Czech Republic, Finland, and the UK

This bachelor's thesis deals with misinformation and demonstrates how schools in selected countries approach the issue of misinformation in media education and subsequently compares these approaches. The thesis focuses on the concept of misinformation and distinguishes other related terms (fake news, hoaxes, conspiracy theories, etc.). Furthermore, the thesis analyzes the fundamental aspects of media education, specifically in the Czech Republic, Finland, and the United Kingdom. This section provides the reader with a clearer picture of how individual countries approach media education. The comparison is specifically emphasized on the topic of misinformation. Thus, the thesis aims to answer whether Czech students are sufficiently educated in dealing with misinformation and media in general.

Disinformation in our lives and at school

This diploma thesis explores in what way disinformation affect thinking and acting of people from psychological and sociological point of view. It defines fundamental concepts often used in relation to modern media world, such as fake new, propaganda, trolling, etcetera. Moreover, it covers how disinformation are accepted by various social groups and why the groups succumb to them. In the subsequent part, it explains, based on expert opinions, the role of media in today's society, how media contribute to the cohesion of the society, but also to its division. An important point is the attitude of the state to disinformation and to overall concept of free speech on social media, where it is often used to spread lies. The main part of the thesis concerns with education, particularly with the relationship between teachers and schools and media education. The practical part of the thesis is based on conversations with teachers from various schools which answer questions related to the teaching of media education. The point of the interviews is to connect them to the theoretical part as well as gain further insight into the topic. The phenomenon of Slow fashion in contemporary Czechia

This bachelor's thesis deals with the phenomenon of slow fashion movement created as a reaction to the development of today's fashion industry. The first part explains the term fast fashion, its main features, business models that lead to its creation such as outsourcing and its social and environmental impacts. Moreover, it deals with the gradual infiltration of sustainability into the fashion industry and the subsequent emergence of slow fashion. Based on qualitative research in the form of semi- structured interviews, the practical part examines specific Czech slow fashion brands. The research primarily analyses the motivation of the founders behind building the selected brands, the approach of these companies to the production and distribution of their products and their overall attitude towards today's fashion. Job Automation and its Impacts

This master's thesis explores how job automation has influenced a selected bank branch workplace and what role gender plays in this process. The thesis is based on a case study focused on a team from one anonymized Czech branch of an international bank where robots are being introduced into the work process. Between November 2018 and February 2019, semi-structured interviews were conducted with six members of this team and obtained data were subjected to an analysis, the results of which are presented in this thesis. Interview questions revolved around changes in the workplace and the evaluation of these changes by the employees. The thesis therefore examines, among other things, whether robots have had any impact on working hours or workplace interpersonal relationships, what control tools narrators have had to monitor the work process, how robots have highlighted existing gender inequalities in the workplace and what issues have arisen after their implementation. The case study has pointed out the importance of further, closer inspection of robot implementation cases, each of which may be affected by a number of specific elements. Michael Hauser, Ph.D. Abstract: There is no doubt that work is an important part of human existence and our lives, but it seems that now we are working more than ever before. Just a quick look on our everyday routine will confirm the following statement: work is invading all parts of our lives. Everything is somehow connected to work: we are working on ourselves, on our bodies, on our relationships and it significantly affects our perception of the world. The definition of work and what it implies has dramatically changed in the course of time and hence new challenges have appeared. In this paper I focus on some of these challenges such as the phenomenon of precariat, bullshit jobs, idleness at work, work as a center of human life and new anti- work movements.
