Annotated Translation: Emma Sánchez Montañés: La cerámica precolombina: el barro que los indios hicieron arte

This bachelor thesis is comprised of two parts. The first part is practical and it is represented by a translation of several chapters from La cerámica precolombina: el barro que los indios hicieron arte written by Emma Sánchez Montañés. The text was translated from Spanish to Czech and it describes historical development of ceramics in Latin America. The second part of the thesis is theoretical and it is formed by a linguistic commentary of the translation. It consists of a translation-oriented text analysis made according to Nord's model, a chapter about the method of translation, a description of translation problems on several different levels and their solutions, and a typology of shifts in the translation. The Relationship of Translation Studies and Translation Didactics

The present dissertation explores the relationship between Translation Studies and translation didactics at theoretical level and as reflected in the teaching practice at selected Czech educational institutions. The dissertation, theoretical-analytical in its orientation, first seeks to define its key terms, profession, didactics, education and training, Translation Studies and translation theory, conducting cross-linguistic comparisons and outlining the past and present thinking about these concepts. Two typologies of translator training are offered, one based on education objectives, the other differentiating between diverse teaching contexts. A special chapter introduces translation didactics as a dynamic component of Translation Studies, discussing current trends in education research and outlining the institutionalization of translator training. Our attempt at defining the content of, and relationship between, Translation Studies and translation theory, the central concepts of the present work, suggested terminological and conceptual disagreement. Hemotherapy for patients after the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

The thesis deals with the issue of application of blood products to patients after the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The theoretical part covers the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, its history, possibilities and types of transplantations, examples of indication focused on tumours of childhood. The following text describes basics of hemotherapy, history of treatment by blood, types of transfusion products and matters related to the application of blood transfusion. Next section is about the specifics of hemotherapy for patients after the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The practical part is dedicated to the study about transfusion products administered to paediatric patients after the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at the University Hospital in Motol. The file consists of the list of patients, who underwent the transplantation during the period from 1.1.2010 to 31.12.2012. The thesis assesses the impact of several factors on the quantities and types of administered transfusion products. The factors include gender, age, diagnosis, type of transplantation (autologous/allogeneic), type of donor (related/unrelated) and type of incompatibility of blood group in the AB0 system. The practical part contains the Czech translation of the introduction and the first three chapters of the Spanish parents' guide to autism Un niño con autismo en la familia, Guía básica para familias que han recibido un diagnóstico de autismo para su hijo o hija. The book published by The Institute on Community Integration (INICO) deals with difficulties of the inner acceptation of the diagnosis and provides basic information on autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The theoretical part includes the translation commentary where the aplied translation procedures, translation problems encoutered while translating and their solutions are discussed on the basis of the translation analysis of the original text. Translation in Teaching English for Specific Purposes at the Tertiary Level The purpose of this thesis is to explore translation as an aid to language teaching from various perspectives relevant to English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classes at the tertiary level of education. Our intention is to offer the option of incorporating translation activities within ESP courses at universities. The research presented in the thesis is relevant to the context of English as a foreign language, taught in a linguistically homogeneous environment to adult learners of ESP at a tertiary level, with a particular focus on English for legal purposes. The research questions dealt with in this thesis are as follows: 1. Can translation contribute to effective learning of English for Specific Purposes? 2. If the answer to the first question is 'yes,' what forms of translation activities are best suited to make such a contribution? 3. Is translation currently used in courses of English for Specific Purposes, and, more specifically, in courses of English for law taught in the Czech Republic? If so, how is it used? 4. Education and training in the Islamics countries

Education and training is the term which every person deals with and it is his/her part of his/her life from birth to death. The area of education and training is a broad topic and the author of this thesis decided to examine the topic of education in Islamic countries because it is much taboo although from a global point of view it should be discussed. The bachelor thesis, "Training and education in Islamic countries", deals with big difference of these two areas in particular Islamic countries as well as difference in one country. In the first part of the thesis the general theme of Islam is introduced because the knowledge of context of this radical religion is necessary for understanding the thesis. The second part is mainly focused on the detailed training and education in different Islamic countries and their advantages and disadvantages which are stated by interviewed respondents. In a last part of the thesis the negative influence of education and training in Islamic countries and the theme of humanitarian aid are emphasized.

Exploitation of Modern Communication Technologies in the Teaching of a Foreign Language

1 Abstract The thesis attempts to track changes that occur in foreign language teaching due to the onset of new technologies and the related use of new methods and forms of teaching. The author deals with the possibilities of using ICT in teaching German language, development of language skills and listening comprehension, based on many years of experience in designing educational online courses, and their application in the teaching of the German language. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the theoretical foundations of eLearning and description of on-line courses, the empirical part is devoted to the study of the effectiveness of these courses. The aim of this research was to determine how the use of ICT is reflected in the students' results and whether the teaching with the ICT support is more, or at least as effective as face-to- face teaching. The first online German language courses at the Faculty of Informatics and Management, University of Hradec Králové already started in 2002. These online courses have been from the beginning primarily meant as supplementary courses, which should serve to streamline the study and home preparation for lessons and to simplify and improve the preparation of students for credits and exam. German as a Mediating Language in the Translation of Hašek's Švejk into Spanish

The purpose of this thesis is to describe the reception of Hašek's Švejk in Spain in the 20th century. The theoretical part deals with the phenomenon of indirect translations (it distinguishes between the second-hand translation and the authorial compilative translation), the problematic of metatexts and the reader's reception. The empirical part describes the "adventure" of Hašek's Švejk in the Czech and German milieu and focuses on the reception of the translations by A. Janés (1980) and M. Zgustová (2008) in Spain. Then, an analysis of censorship reports dedicated to Švejk and critical reviews of Spanish translations of this book and a short commentary of interviews with the two translators and editors follow. As a methodological instrument for the micro-textual contrastive analysis of selected passages of Hašek's novel was used the Popovič's (1975, 1983) typology of stylistic shifts and changes in the translation.
