Biology and evolution of termite genus Neocapritermes (Blattodea: Termitoidea: Termitidae: Termitinae)
Cintulová, Eliška ; Šobotník, Jan (advisor) ; Jakub, Jakub (referee)
My thesis is a brief summary of knowledge on termites, especially genus Neocapritermes. It describes ecology, nutrition, caste patterns and phylogenetics of termites. In detail, it characterizes Neocapritermes taracua, its ecology and defensive behaviour of workers. The main topic is formulation of phylogenetic hypothesis concerning position of genus Neocapritermes and relatedness among particular species of the genus. My results suggest that Planicapritermes and Dentispicotermes are the closest relatives of Neocapritermes, perhaps inner taxa located within the genus.

The renovation of historical parks near the small feudal residences on the example of the study of the renovation of the castle garden in Doudleby nad Orlici in Eastern Bohemia.
Faltysová, Lenka ; Buttry, Ivana (advisor) ; Jakub, Jakub (referee)
The aim of this work is the processing methodology and presentation process how to restore monuments of garden art. On the example of the revitalization of the castle garden immovable cultural monument Castle Doudleby nad Orlicí, based on the study of literature, similar interventions and the analysis and interpretation of various types of archival material the current quality of historic garden was evaluated. It is based on field survey, which consists of dendrological research, analyzing the authenticity of trees and appreciation of all the collected documents, historical sources and professional literature. Concept recovery of castle garden is based on the expert authority´s binding point of view of the state care of historical monuments. Renaissance castle in Doudleby nad Orlici is located in the eastern part of the town on a slightly raised hill on the right bank of the River Divoká Orlice. There was a wooden medieval fortress with the farmyard on this place in the 13th century. Sr Mikuláš from Bubno started to build a hunting lodge in the Renaissance style as villa in 1588, which was finished in 1590. The significance of Renaissance residence, which complement the early Baroque elements from the late 17th century, is enhanced by the opulent and impressive sgraffito - carpet pattern covering all external and internal frontage, restored in 1886 by Kirchner. The tall chimneys are the part of decoration in the courtyard decorated with sgraffito as well. The chateau complex is formed along its circuit of farm buildings and residential buildings. Building of castle itself is separated by a park with old trees and newer lawns (Hieke, 1984). Castle park in Doudleby nad Orlicí was founded in 1809 in compositional continuity of the Renaissance castle building. The park forms one organic complex with the castle. The promoter strived, like in the castle rooms, to demonstrate here his wealth, his sense of art and his botanical-dendrological knowledge. The park is designed as a narrow disposition in landscape style and it is composed as a long vista to the castle. The area of the landscape park is 3.76 hectares nowadays. The literature search is especially dedicated to the Renaissance and its relationship to the garden art. The monument care in the Czech Republic and the activity of professional organization of the monument care of the National Heritage Institute in Josefov is introduced in this section. The methodological guide describes the used bolsterings and resulting outputs on the basis of them are implemented of such measures, which will help to improve the health and vitality of existing promising trees and new plantings of trees, which are consistent with the original composition with emphasis on the rehabilitation and upgrading of historical value of the object. Treatment of trees and supplementary planting will be done within the frame of total revitalization of the castle park. The practical unit describes the current status of vegetation monuments of garden art. The inventory trees is the essential tool for analyzing the current status of vegetation monuments of garden art. Inventory, which should provide quality base for a draft recovery, should also be addressed in certain parts with characteristics of individual species (Krejčiřík, 2015). The results of field investigation were completely recorded in the graphical output.

Socially Excluded Localities and Their Revitalization. Case Study: Ústecký Region.
Zoubková, Věra Thea ; Maier, Karel (advisor) ; Jakub, Jakub (referee)
The dissertation deals with the incidence and revitalization of socially excluded localities in a defined study area. The aim of this contribution is to identify and visualize the situation of the Ústecký Region in order to find common patterns of urban deprivation occurrence and to establish the guiding principles of revitalization policies in the Czech Republic. The research took place from September 2010 to June 2015. It combined qualitative and quantitative methods, in-situ and desk research. An analysis of primary and secondary data revealed 130 excluded localities in 42 towns and cities out of 354 in the region. The majority of deprived localities (87 %) can be found in highly urbanized areas. Two thirds of localities are small areas with up to 100 inhabitants. Socially excluded areas emerge in the centre, residential districts as well as on the outskirts of towns; however, three fifths of localities are not spatially segregated. Prefabricated housing estates are the largest and most populated deprived areas. Every other inhabitant of socially excluded localities in the Region lives in a prefabricated house. Brick houses are the most proliferated type of housing facility used as accommodation for socially excluded people. They can be found in every other deprived area. Vast majority of them was built before 1989. Family houses are deprived very scarcely; however, they belong to the most dilapidated part of socially excluded housing estate. Two thirds of localities have developed naturally, while the other third has been created by a regulated relocation of socially excluded people. Vast majority of deprived areas have existed for more than 5 years. Private property prevails. Half of the localities have entered the process of revitalization to improve the urban environment, human resources and security. Applied policies aim to keep the inhabitants in place and improve the quality of public space and service. However, involvement of residents in local regeneration policymaking is weak and ineffective. The renewal process depends on grants and subsidies. Europeanization is strong especially in big cities; nevertheless, most localities are small and therefore don't qualify for the sources of the built environment programs which prefer large areas of intervention. Results of revitalization process differ from one locality to another. Areas of housing and employment fall behind in particular. As far as property regeneration is concerned, the best owners are municipalities, house unit owners associations and housing associations. Not in one case, however, reaches the share of regenerated housing units 50 % of deprived properties. In any case, the market prices of local flats stay low compared with those of correspondingly equipped properties elsewhere in town.
New cryoprotectives in preservation of potentially probiotic bacteria of Bifidobacterium genus using freeze-drying procedure
Vrabcová, Petra ; Killer, Jiří (advisor) ; Jakub, Jakub (referee)
The probiotic bacteria of the genus Bifidobacterium are especially used in the dairy and pharmaceutical industry. They are present in the form of viable cells in pro(syn)biotic fermented milk, dried and freeze-dried products for its positive effects on the health. Lyophilization represents one of the widely used methods for long-term preservation of bifidobacteria. The lyophilization process is challenging, but very needed, and for this reason it is still necessary to explore new cryo(lyo)protective substances, which protect the microbial cultures more effectively before the negative effects of cryopreservation and lyophilization. The aim of the thesis was to test the various mixtures of substances containing specific oligosaccharides, which have prebiotic properties, from the point of view of their potential cryo(lyo)protective effect of lyophilization process. For the purposes of the study, twelve bifidobacterial strains of human and animal origin were selected. As a potential cryo(lyo)protectives were used solutions on the basis of 5x concentrated TPY medium with addition of FOS, 10% fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and the solution on the basis of porcine gastric mucin. Number of viable cells was determined in lyophilisates enriched by the concrete solutions in the time intervals (30 days, 3 months and 6 months) after lyophilization and compared with the control lyophilized samples (fresh cultures without the additive solutions). The potential cryo(lyo)protective effectiveness of 5x concentrated TPY medium solution has been demonstrated only in B. boum, B. breve, B. longum subsp. infantis a Bombiscardovia coagulans, where decreased the number of viable cells about four orders of magnitude. The potential cryo(lyo)protective effectiveness in 10% FOS solution was found only in B. thermacidophilum subsp. porcinum and Bombiscardovia coagulans, where was found half the number of viable cells. The highest potential cryo(lyo)protective effectiveness was observed for a solution on the basis of porcine gastric mucin. The highest number of viable cells was demonstrated in B. animalis subsp. lactis, B. boum, B. longum subsp. infantis, B. longum subsp. longum, B. pseudolongum subsp. globosum and B. thermacidophilum subsp. porcinum lyophilisates using this potential cryo(lyo)protective solution.
Business Plan
Krejsová, Martina ; Pilař, Ladislav (advisor) ; Jakub, Jakub (referee)
This thesis deals with business plan. Theoretical part of this thesis defines basic terms related with entrepreneurship and covers business plan elements based on available professional literature. Practical part encompasses a particular business plan for starting a café in a students dorm. To identify potential opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses of this business plan analysis has been performed based on which particular strategies for successful project realization are provided. As a result of conducted marketing research essential information about target market consumer behavior has been gathered and appropriate marketing strategy has been decided. Subsequently to the performed analysis a finance plan is compiled, considering three scenarios of café attendance: optimistic, realistic and pessimistic. A practical usage of a net present value, internal rate of return and payback period to evaluate the considered investment follows. In the business plan conclusion project risks are identified and suitable measures for their elimination are suggested. This thesis aims at economical evaluation of the considered business plan.
Condition comparison of laminitic horses with healthy horses
Vitnerová, Dana ; Rozinek, Jiří (advisor) ; Jakub, Jakub (referee)
Laminitis (commonly called founder) is the second most frequent reason to euthanize the horse after colic. It is a general system disease, which has many causes and risk factor and leads to significant changes in the anatomy of the hoof. If the horse fall sick, therapy is not always without aftereffects. A major part of horses affected by laminitis remain disabled and eventually must be euthanized. Experts believe that obesity is one of the risk factor for laminitis. Body condition is the actual nutritional status of the horse. Body condition may change during the life and it is mainly influenceable by way of breeding and management. This theses was tasked to compare the body condition of laminitic horses with healthy horses and find out whether laminitis is a potential risk for healthy horses. In theses are information about 63 horses, 31 horses with laminitis and 32 healthy horses. The results showed that 60,32 % horses (38/63) are designated as fat or obese (BCS 3,5 to 5), 20 horses with laminitis and 18 healthy horses. In ideal body condition (BCS 2,5 to 3) is 33,33 % (21/63), 8 horses with laminitis and 13 healthy horse. In bad body condition (BCS 0 to 2) is 6,35 % horses. From these results we can estimate that majority of horses (56,25 % healthy horses) is unnecessarily overfed, horses have not adequate exercise, they are in higher body condition. In these horses is higher probability for inception of laminitis. The statistical result showed that a group of horses with laminitis and a group of healthy horse are similar in BCS values. However both groups are different from the ideal BCS. Their BCS value (3,39) is higher than optimal (BCS 3). From this results we can conclude that obese horse does not always suffer from laminitis and also the horse in ideal body condition can fall sick with laminitis. Higher risk for laminitis is a horse overfeeding intensive spring grazing or excessive amount of concentrated feed than the nutritional status of the horse.
