Influence of state social policy on fertility rates

The aim of my bachelor's thesis is to provide an overview of a birth rate development in the European countries - in the Czech Republic, France and Sweden in a period of 20 years (1990 - 2010). The work includes individual characteristics of the state social policy of the population, history of the birth rates and a demographic projection for a future. The thesis is an attempt to outline the potential improvement of social policy with a focus on a family policy, so that the population drop of the Czech republic's citizens might be avoided in the future. Furthermore, the development of countries family policies where the birth rate is on a desired level and from which the Czech Republic could draw the inspiration is described. The conclusion of the thesis contains several suggestions how the family policy could develop in the future.
Induced abortions in the years 1958-2012 in the Czech Republic

The objective of the thesis primarily is to describe the history and development of the issue of abortion in relation to the various changes that the population of communities have passedthrough and determine whether legislative changes concerning abortion affect abortion indicators. Furthermore, the work focuses on the development of abortion in the Czech Republic in 1958 - 2012.This thesis examines in detail on the development of abortion legislation in Czechoslovakia and later in the Czech Republic and on the basis of these legislative changes values examines the link abortion with indicators made legislative changes. In the context of abortion among other things, analyzes the total fertility rate, total abortion rate, abortion rate of women according to their age, abortion by territorial differentiation and other indicators influencing the number of abortions in the Czech Republic.
Labour market, economic activity and inactivity in Czech Republic from the perspective of gender

The aim of this thesis is to analyse the labour market in the Czech Republic between the years 1993 and 2012 from the perspective of gender and to propose possible solutions for balancing family and work life. The thesis consists of two main parts. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of the basic terms associated with the labour market and gender issues, such as balancing family and work life or discrimination. The analytical part draws on the data from the Czech Statistical Office, and is divided into several chapters. The basis is either economic activity or inactivity, and it is further divided into employment and unemployment. These and other indicators are demonstrated on time series showing the development in the last twenty years.
Demographic analysis of the city Decin, focused on social services

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the current demographic situation in the city Decin with basic demographic indicators, also describe the social services provided to seniors in this city and by using population projections to estimate future development in this area and outline possible solutions in the social services. The work consists of two parts: theoretical and analytical. The first part explains the used demographic terms and methods, especially projection, there are also shown the characteristics of social services provided to seniors in Decin . The second part consists mainly of demographic analysis and population projection based on data from the Czech Statistical Office. The result of the analysis says that there will be the aging of population in Decin and population decrease as well as in the whole Czech Republic. This situation will strongly affect the area of social services this is why it is need to be solved now.
The Development of Mortality in the Czech Republic and Neighboring European Countries

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the development of mortality in the Czech Republic and to compare it with development in neighboring countries during period 1960-2012. The first part characterizes basic mortality indicators and describes an algorithm for calculating life tables. The life tables is calculated in the second part based on data from EUROSTAT and the Human Mortality Database. The thesis is devoted to a detailed analysis of infant mortality and its effect on life expectancy. This thesis is also focused on the life expectancy paradox. In the final part of the thesis life expactancy, median length of life and normal age of death are compared.
Ageing of population in countries of the Visegrad Group

The Bachelor thesis deals with ageing of population in countries of the Visegrad Group. The thesis is divided into three chapters. In the first one, are introduced general indicators and terms connected with ageing of population. The second chapter includes graphs which are related to life expectancy and healthy life expectancy in the countries of the Visegrad Group. Further there are graphically illustrated demographic indicators related to ageing of population -- ageing index, dependency ratios, economic dependency ratio and average age. The third and final chapter deals wih population ageing, pension schemes in the countries given and also contains a proposal for possible modification of pension schemes. The goal of this thesis is a description and comparison of ageing in the countires of the Visegrad Group by the demographic indicators and also a suggestion of a possible solution in terms of pension schemes. All necessary data for calculation and graph creation were have been taken from the Eurostat database.
The development of mortality in Western European countries and former Eastern Bloc countries

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse and compare the development of mortality in Western European countries and former Eastern Bloc countries from 1960 to 2013. The theoretical part describes basic indicators of mortality and algorithm for calculation of complete life tables. Age-specific death rates which are part of the life tables were equalized by using moving averages and Gompertz-Makeham function. The practical part of this thesis focuses on comparing selected countries in terms of development of infant mortality rate without distinction of sex. However, the development of infant mortality rate is also traced separately for boys and for girls here thanks to which we can watch changes in the trend of male's excess mortality. This thesis also includes comparison of life expectancy development at birth and life expectancy at higher ages in individual countries and finds out the influence of the communist regime on selected demographic indicators.
Information asymmetry on the food market

This thesis looks into information asymmetry on the food market. In the theory part, it focuses on voluntary labeling and logos, which can help the consumer with his decisions, and analyses the impact of three selected Stream.cz programmes that help in the raising of public awareness. The practical part of this thesis uses mystery shopping to show some currently used misleading and dishonest commercial practices of food producers and sellers. Finally this thesis judges, whether there's any improvement on the food market in the last few years.
The harmonization of family and work life in the Czech Republic compared with Sweden and Greece

The aim of this thesis is to analyse conditions for the harmonization of family and work life in the Czech Republic compared with Sweden and Greece. These countries were chosen due to their different attitudes regarding the distribution of roles within the household and in the labour market. The thesis is divided into two main parts, the theoretical part, which focuses on the definition of terms, the labour market and the family in the context of the European Union, but especially in the Czech Republic. The analytical part concentrates on concrete indicators and their development over time according to the Eurostat database since the Czech Republic joined the EU and up to the present time in all countries studied. This part focuses on indicators of fertility, economic activity, employment and unemployment and the use of formal childcare. The thesis follows up part- time jobs, which are very important from the point of view of this thesis.
Family households in the Czech Republic since the second half of the 20th century

This bachelor thesis studies the evolution of different types of households, especially family households, based on various demographic indicators and according to various criteria and data sources from the 2nd half of 20th century. An important year for the concept of this thesis is the year 1961, when was first census performed in the concept of census households. The theoretical section explains important concepts, data sources and historical evolution of families and households, and current trends in the formation of these households. It also explains the severance of households, and the last section deals with the family households. The analytical part compares demographic indicators such as demographic structure between 1961 and 2011 and the marriage rate. Furthermore, there are analyzed various type of households, but particularly the family households, according to different data sources and different characteristics. The last part of this chapter deals with the forecast number of family households in the future.
