Activities and services provided by the library of Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague

The subject of this thesis is a Library of Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, whose specialized funds are intended to support the teaching and learning of various disciplines of the faculty. Its specificity is a special fund of audiovisual documents designated for internal needs of the community of teachers and students of FAMU. The theoretical part describes the basic concepts and introduces the legislation related to the issue of university libraries. Furthermore, the thesis briefly introduces the circumstances of birth of the FAMU library and its development within the organizational structure of the library of the Academy of Performing Arts. Most space will be devoted to the description and evaluation of activities and services which the library provides since 2003, when it acquired new premises and many significant changes have occurred.

The role of the Czech National Library in regional and world digitisation and its activities in digitalisation from ½ 90s of 20th century up to date

The bachelor thesis summarizes the history of activities of the National Library of the Czech Republic in digitization and its participation on international and national projects for digitization. This work does not just focus on these projects, but also on Albertina icome Ltd., and briefly describes the government programs of the Ministry of Culture VISK (Public Information Library Services), which are an integral part of the digitization of the National Library. The thesis also deals with the role of the National Library of the Czech Republic in European and global environment. The projects and the status of the National Library are briefly evaluated by the author of the thesis. Her opinions, drawn from the current situation of the project, are also presented. Furthermore, the author deals with the possible future development of digitization. The work's time range is set from the mid 1990's to the present. Content checking of book collections of National technical library

The aim of this work is to describe and analyze procedures of the content checking of collections in the State Technical Library, respectively, in the National Technical Library. The content checking of collections is concerned with evaluation of the library fund from several points to achieve the best currency and usability of this special fund. Unsuitable library documents are suggested to the withdraw. Today is this activity practiced in the Department of the content checking of the library fund, where are monographs and serials separately evaluated. In this bachelor's work are different approaches to content checking and documents write off explained. There are also sketched changes in the work of the Department, planned due to expanding of the library fund for documents from libraries incorporated in future. Marketing Strategy on the Services Market and its Application on a Selected Organisation, Library, Information Centre

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to apply available findings about marketing on the library sphere, to show some possibilities of cooperation between a library and its surrounding and to create a marketing strategy for particular library emphasizing the importance of cooperation with other organizations. Theoretical part of the thesis describes marketing in library sphere, including marketing mix and current trends in marketing communication. There are also presented some examples of cooperation between a library and various organizations. In practical part of the thesis there is presented Municipal Library in Sušice, its users and its cooperation with other organizations. There is also performed SWOT analysis. Its results were then used for designing new marketing strategy. The thesis includes also a survey that was performed among the library users.

Development of Bibliometrics in the Czech Republic

(in English) Bachelor thesis is focused on the development of bibliometrics in the Czech Republic which includes significant events, personalities and institutions which substantially related to the Czech bibliometrics. In the thesis bibliometrics is firstly defined as the science with its methods, laws and use. The general history of bibliometrics is also outlined for comparison with the Czech development. It describes the world development from the beginning to the present. History of the Czech bibliometrics presents similar description of history but in this case applied to the Czech scene. In detail the thesis focuses on probably the most famous Czech achievement from the field of bibliometrics. This is the scientometric working group founded by Jan Vlachý, world renowned Czech bibliometrician and scientometrician. In particular, we address to the group's activity and two preserved proceedings from organized seminars. Below the thesis emphasises the facts which still illustrate the situation in the field of the Czech bibliometrics. Specifically, it relates to the personalities of the Czech bibliometrics who in some way contributed to the development in this area and in this place the analyses of bibliometric literature of the Czech authors are also evaluated.

Reference services of Musical Department of Municipal Library of Prague

This bachelor's thesis seeks to analyze, describe, and evaluate the current state of reference services at the Music Department of the Municipal Library of Prague. Within the scope of this work, the author will perform: - A basic exploration of the subject matter in terms of the available literature and other information; the research of selected sources and gathering of relevant information "on site", at the MLP building, will result in a brief presentation of key terms and principles pertaining to reference services, with a particular focus on the established practice of such services where they are associated with public music libraries. - An analysis and detailed description of the reference services on offer at the Music Department of the MLP, which will be presented in the main part of the thesis (the role of these services within the overall context of the reference service system at the MLP as a whole, and of cooperating music libraries across the Czech Republic; the operational coverage of these services in terms of storage and work space, financial funding, and manpower; reference stocks and resources; typical users of these services and types of requests; records of requests and their assessment; etc.). Communicative Formats in the Czech Republic with a Focus on the Reasons for the Transition from UNIMARC to MARC 21

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to describe and analyse communicative formats which have been used for communications of bibliographic data in the last 25 years in the Czech republic. The first chapter outlines the structure of a generalized exchange format as specified in ISO 2709 Information and documentation - Format for information exchange. In a detailed chapter 2 the main characteristics, pros and cons of four communicative formats are presented (including Czechoslovak Exchange Format and its predecessor Common Data Structure, UNIMARC and MARC 21 formats). The third chapter tries to examine the reasons for the the abandonment of UNIMARC format and the adoption of MARC 21 in 2004 in the Czech republic. Chapter 3 also explains the international circumstances under which the process of transition occured. In conclusion the thesis sumps up the development in the field of communicative formats used in the Czech republic from 1988 until now.

Audio and audiovisual documents in the Municipal library of Prague

The aim of this thesis is to present the collection of audio and audiovisual documents in the Municipal Library of Prague (further MLP). In the first chapter there are cited legislative documents which are directly related to the issue of lending of the mentioned materials. The next chapter presents audio and audiovisual documents and their history. The third chapter, which is the main one, deals with mentioned documents in the MLP; library processes (acquisition of documents, cataloguing) and possibilities of searching them on web or on-line are described there too. In addition, some special projects of the MLP (circulating collections, digitizing of gramophone records) are described there too. Analysis of the current state of school libraries in Vysočina region

This thesis deals with the analysis of the current state of libraries in elementary and secondary schools in the Vysočina region. In the first part of the text outlines the basic problems of school libraries along with the characteristics of the region. The main part of this work is analysis of the state of libraries based on the survey.Personally visited libraries are closely described. The conclusion summarizes the survey results.
