Škopková, Andrea ; Sekera, Martin (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
The work reflects one of the most popular fictional character of the first half of the 1930s, Pepina Rejholcová. Pepina Rejholcová, whose author Frantisek Voborsky, an important personality of Czech comics, has appeared in the Czech press at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s - first as a side character of humorous drawings or illustrations for popular song lyrics. Soon after, she reappeared on the silver screen, on pages of children's books, or in children's rooms in the form of toys and sweets. The transformations of the originally illustrated archetype caused by the switch among the various media are the center of interest for this work. In this context, the aspects of intermediality and transmediality are examined, both in special and general terms. It is mainly the extent to which the originally cartoon character changes, and whether the content of the message, the narrative patterns and the concept of humor is changing as well. In broader context, the work is a contribution to the theme of media and institutional integration. The work is divided into five parts and a conclusion. The first part outlines the theoretical viewpoints, the second part is devoted to Pepina Rejholcova's character, the third part reflects media representations, the fourth discusses essential characteristics of typical...

The Role of Propaganda in Online Discourse of Selected Blood Donation Campaigns in the Czech Republic
Blažková, Barbora ; Dolanský, Pavel (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee) ; Jirák, Jan (referee)
The voluntary blood donation issue is topical in the Czech Republic since the number of blood donors has not yet reached the number of donors existing in the neighboring countries. Because of this fact the Czech Blood Cross together with transfusion services centers in the Czech Republic and in cooperation with various organizations, e.g. Czech Radio, do their best to obtain new voluntary blood donors via blood donation campaigns. Language of these campaigns is mainly of persuasive character. As such, it is often viewed as a means of white propaganda which stems from factual information and whose aim is to persuade the consumer of the message about the legitimacy of its ideology. White propaganda also helps to build trust which is lately used. In other words, the consumer of the message becomes blood donor. The thesis analyzes persuasive linguistic means of propaganda present in online discourse of the selected campaigns. On the basis of learned facts, the thesis also tries to characterize this discourse type; moreover, it makes suggestions for designing a new blood donation campaign.

While in the observation period between May 1st, 1949 and June 2nd, 1949 the action was publicly supported, after Šling's arrest in October of the following year on the contrary it was condemned by the communist functionaries. Based on concrete medial announcements and accessible professional literature changes of the moods of the society are presented that took place in dependence on the fabrication of the political trials in the fifties of the last century. This fact is closely specified in the third part of the thesis which concerns itself with the role of Otto Šling in the Trial of anti-state conspiracy centered around Rudolf Slánský and his impact on the lives of Šling's closest relatives.

Bachelor's thesis The Reverent Act in Lidice in 1945 - mass media reflexion v. historical facts and survivor's memories provides, as the name already predicts, insight into the issues of post-war production of the representative Czechoslovakian media. How did the publications and the radio back then inform about the event which had an impact far beyond internal affairs? In which context did the media remind the general public of the tragedy of Lidice? Did the mass media use their capacity for cooperation in recovering missing women and children? How did they deal with the blame of Nazi criminals and the blame of the entire German nation as a whole? What was the point of view of the media of the Reverent Act? And how large a part of its original record did they get over to the general public? Were pieces of information rather true or not? Was the Reverent Act abused by the media for the propagation of their own ideological interests? Which reflection did they make of western countries and how much did it differ from a reflection of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics? The author of this Bachelor's thesis tried to find answers to these and the following questions. The thesis is based primarily on the exploration of extant archival material, such as the articles in Lidová demokracie, Právo lidu,...
