Sokol in photography 1918-1948

Organization of Sokol found at the top of its development in 1918 - 1938. Gathering of Czech gymnastic organization Sokol became widely reflection medial events then time with big political vertones, photography is their necessary fellow - traveller.
Sokol uses photography plentifully , not only like record its activities, but also for his wide publicity. Creates first of all widely distributive visual compilation in form solder monuments, which from backward look reflex his inside development. Crucial is also background rise hereof photographical record, its development, author´s and aestethic difference. From the second side it is then visual testimony then photojournalism. In 20th years rise mission of photography in news media, arise picture magazines, in czech context it is first of all magazine Pestrý týden, which devote to Sokol considerable attention. It creates so counterpoise to photografhic themselves-presentation from the side of Sokol. Because of this reason arises possibility comparison and reciprocal interaction.

Graphic art and photography in Czech Territory

This thesis is exploring mutual influences and using graphic art in relationship
with photography, or the other way round using photography in relationship with
graphic art on the czech territory. The exploration is from one point of view
guided thru the history by investigation of contemporary tendencies and
development of graphic and reproduction techniques with accent to role of czech
inventors. From second point of view is working with analysis of works created
by important czech authors, graphic artists working with photography or just
with individual important works, for whom is the confrontation of graphic art and
photography essential. On these then demonstrates common or individual
infuences directly coming from the connection of this two specializations.

The way of imaging landscape as mean to expression own opinion

The author of this essay was thinking on Jasansky-Polak works, which was compared to an art view of Jan Reich. Paralelly with it she was thinking upon results of a political period of a Czechoslovak history, so called period of normalisation, for contemporary life days. Along with that she remarked Ivan Lutterer works. Logicaly she was leading to think of elementary esthetic cathegories and asked basic questions, as What does it mean "beauty", to find out the searching of that answer has been long life process.
