Czech City in the Process of Modernization between 1850 and 1914 on the Example of Kolín

Resumé Abstract This work is focused on the breakthrough process of modernization of a city with a predominance of Czechs on the example of Kolín, during the more or less continuous development of the years 1848-1914. It is the result of a microhistoric probe that analyzes individual manifestations of the modernization process in the municipality of Kolín, primarily business activity, urban economic elite, democratization and administrative development, transport, federal activity, urban development with the related building of municipal infrastructure or municipal finance. Although the town did not have any more significant administrative functions, it was one of the most important municipalities in the wider region and it had ambition to become a modern industrial center and a successful medium-sized town. However, this was only partially accomplished, with possible reasons being highlighted in the work. Kolín was also selected with regard to an agricultural background, which is firmly linked to the beginning of the economic rise of Czech society. Social changes of the town Svoboda nad Úpou on the background of the census of 1910 and 1921

Diploma thesis "Social changes of the town Svoboda nad Úpou on the background of the census of 1910 and 1921" deals with the analysis and comparison of the census of 1910 and 1921 for the town Svoboda nad Úpou, which is located in Giant Mountains. The content and aim of the thesis is to describe particular censuses and compare their changes, especially from the point of view of the census in the times of Austria-Hungary, concretely the last census within the monarchy and thus at the beginning of the independent Czechoslovak Republic. The work then analyzes the census of both years and interprets their results. Consequently, the census compares and tracks how the city changed between the censuses and how the census results were reflected. Attention is primarily paid to the number, sex and age of the inhabitans, furthermore to the national structure, religion or economic activities and the occupation of the city's inhabitants. The work also focuses on the possible impact of World War I. Then also how the town was influenced by the creation of the Czechoslovak Republic and how the national situation evolved. Influence of Space on Cultural Participation of Prague Citizens

Diploma thesis " Influence of Space on Cultural Participation of Prague Citizens " deals with relationship of cultural participation and sociospatial context of a city and its changes over the time using example of capital city of Prague in the 1980s and in the early 20th century. The thesis presents several basic means how space can influence cultural participation. It is cultural infrastructure, politics and strategies of public governance, existence of creative creators of culture and existence of audience interested in culture. After that the thesis describes conditions for cultural participation v Prague in 1980s and after year 1989. Existence of relationship between cultural participation and space is examined at the level of ten Prague's districts using secondary analysis of two quantitative sociological research projects "Class and Social Structure of CSSR population" from 1984 and "Media Projekt" from 2007 using ordinal logistic regression model.

This thesis analyzes the business environment of Nigeria with a focus on political, economic, social, technological and legal factors. These factors have a big impact on entrepreneurs, therefore they play an important role in deciding entrepreneurs whether to enter the market or not. First, it is defined a theoretical background for understanding the issue. The following section deals with the analysis of the business environment with a view to possible risks and threats. In the conclusion was analyzed a mutual business cooperation between the Czech Republic and Nigeria and the current state of relations.

The first chapter contains basic terminology such as business environment, methods of its evaluation and the basis of a used analysis. The second chapter deals with the evaluation of business environment of Venezuela based on analysis mentioned above. In the last chapter, there is a summary of risks and barriers of entering Venezuela's market and possibilities of a current collaboration and prospects of establishing a new one.

The position of China on the world rice market

The bachelor thesis focuses on the development of world rice market and the position of China on this market. In the first part general characteristics of rice, use and importance of rice are described. The second chapter analyzes current trends on the world rice market and it focuses on the biggest world producers, consumers, exporters and importers of rice. It also describes the development of the rice price on world market, the factors that influence the price and at the end of this chapter the forms of the trade with rice are characterized. The third part classifies the chinese rice market and summarizes the development of chinese rice production and consumption in past decades. It also approaches the reasons for the change of rice consumption among the chinese citizens and the potential risks of chinese production in the future. To sum up, exports and imports of rice to China and the competitiveness of chinese rice are evaluated.

The Fate of Pankrác Prisoners in After-war Period- Pankrác Prison, May 1945-1946

The main topic of this thesis is the fate of people being held in the Pankrác prison in the period of approximately one year after the end of World War II. The base of the thesis are collected testimonies, information about the circumstances of the events at that time from both the present and available contemporary literature and periodicals, their analysis and comparisons as well as adding other relating data from archives and other sources. The introduction and the methodological part is followed by a historical discourse observing the events of the end of World War II in the European context, history of the Pankrác prison since the time of its establishment in 1889, and the Czech-German conflict in the period before the Munich Agreement had been signed and the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, until the transfer of the control over the prison by the Czech administration in May 1945. The individual topics introducing the conditions that prevailed in the Pankrác prison at that time are elaborated in the part devoted to the postwar period. The chapters devoted to the characteristics of prisoners and introduction of the collected testimonies introduce another part describing the circumstances of the detention of persons, their arrival to the Pankrác prison, conditions and...

Czechoslovak Union Recreations of Revolutionary Trade Union Movement (ROH) In Years 1945 - 1989

Following thesis deals with issue of trade union recreations held by Revolutionary Trade Union Movement (ROH) in Czechoslovakia between 1945 - 1989. Theoretical roots of this work are the concept of leisure time, Revolutionary Trade Union Movement (ROH) and trade union recreations, including all their types (selective inland and outland recreations, corporate recreations, Pioneer Organization's summer camps). The thesis gets its findings on the one hand from archive sources as well as from interviews with witnesses, on the other hand from studying of secondary literature. The thesis describes differences between particular types of recreations and presents their alterations throughout history. In the same time, it relates the issue of trade union recreations to the concept of leisure time as a condition for a formation of trade union recreations. It also deals with the role of Trade Union Movement (ROH) in organisation of recreations itself. The goal of the thesis is to process fundamental trends, tendencies and changes of union recreations and their typology.
