Reproductive biology of brown frogs of the Czech Republic
Žáčková, Lucie ; Šandera, Martin (advisor) ; Vojar, Jiří (referee)
The frog reproduction biology is species-specific. Most of them, searches for water environment for reproduction. Our true frogs are no exception, they can be found in water right on the beginning of spring. For the rest of the year, the move on the land and only return to water when they intend to enter hibernation. They are also sometimes named as "land frogs" due to them spending most of their life in terrestrial environment. The true frogs look very similar and for their definition the combination of more determining attributes is used. The coloration of both sexes differs depending on time of the year in different species. The differences between males and females, but also between different species, are visible the most during the reproduction phase. Apart from coloration there are many other different characteristics. One of those is the calling of males in reproduction phase. Moreover, the species differ in the length of hibernation, the time of clutch laying or the manner of their placement in water. Many reproductive isolation barriers exist between true frog species inhabiting the Czech Republic which prevent the successful inter-species breeding. Key words: hibernation, calling, reproduction, amplexus, clutches, metamorphoses

Evolution, ecology and systematics of symbiotic shrimps (Crustacea: Decapoda: Caridea)
Horká, Ivona ; Petrusek, Adam (advisor) ; Fikáček, Martin (referee) ; Chan, Tin-Yam (referee)
This thesis is focused on symbiotic associations of caridean shrimps with a variety of marine animals of different phyla. Currently, five caridean families comprise symbiotic species. Palaemonidae (including the traditionally recognised subfamily Pontoniinae of predominantly symbiotic species) is the most species-rich and ecologically important of them. Its representatives live from temperate to tropical marine or brackish waters, with the highest diversity in the Indo-West Pacific biogeographic area and the western Atlantic. The thesis is composed of two parts, one focusing on ecology and evolutionary biology, the other on systematics. The first part consists of three studies providing new knowledge on the evolution of symbioses in palaemonid shrimps. We confirmed that inter-phylum host-switching events and colonization of new hosts likely played a major role in the evolution of palaemonid symbiotic shrimps and these evolved multiple times (Chapter 1). Similarly, the switching from ecto- to endosymbiotic mode, associated with new body forms and ecological adaptations, occurred several times in palaemonid evolution. Reversal back to a free-living mode is rare, occasionally observed among ectosymbiotic lineages. Our results also confirm the necessity of systematic revision of this group,...

Attention Problems due to Hyperactivity - ADHD
Hainová, Barbora ; Michalová, Zdena (advisor) ; Čedík, Miloslav (referee)
The goal of the dissertation is to map out the achieved success of former students from the special school for pupils with behavioral disorder in farther educational institutions. We would like to uncover how the surrounding adaptation is affected by the behavioral disorder. In the theoretical part there are facts concerning the behavioral disorder focused on the ADHD/ADD syndrome issue. The process of socialization described in all stages and the family as a remarkable factor of generating the basic social values and approaches is below. The empiric part is focused on research completion among former students of the Primary School for Children with Behavioral Disorder. It is concerned in student' success in further training at secondary schools. The process of question-forms with statements completed by former students' parents follows. These are applied either to confirm or refute the defined hypothesis.

The Northern Lapwing ( Vanellus vanellus) -- a model species for research of precocial problems in Shorebirds ( Charadrii)
Kubelka, Vojtěch ; Šálek, Miroslav (advisor) ; Cepák, Jaroslav (referee)
Precociality has large energy demands on a freshly hatched chick which must start to feed itself and face environmental factors more than altricial nestlings. The Northern Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) is a suitable model species for presenting the precocial problems of shorebirds (Charadrii), a typical precocial group of birds. A better understanding of the lapwing chick's problems in different habitats will deepen our knowledge about ecological constraints and adaptations of precocial shorebirds and, at the same time can be very helpful for determining the rules of effective conservation of endangered species. The chick size, growth, condition and survival are influenced by egg volume but also by the quality of the parents during the 35 day period that the chick needs to achieve fledging. A Lapwing chick's mortality is highest during the first 10 days of its life due to all of the further mentioned factors, which are even stronger in the critical and delicate period of the chick's life after hatching. Lapwing chicks forage non-selectively on the most abundant and available types of prey found on the soil surface, in soft mud or shallow water. Their diet consists of various types of invertebrates, particularly earthworms, beetles and other groups of insects. The proportion of particular food...

The needs of family in care of the old patients with oncologic diseases
PANGLOVÁ, Tereza
Abstract Cancer diseases are one of the most frequent causes of death. Their occurrence increases with age and depends on many internal and external factors. Cancer is much feared diagnosis among people especially due to high mortality and pain. Such diagnosis causes high psychic stress on a patient and their family. The time period of medication and convalescence is stressing for a patient and entails number of complications. The course of the disease and therapy is also influenced by age of a patient. In case of seniors, anatomic and physiologic changes that can influence the result of medication must be considered. Family can be a great support for a patient. Some families care for their diseased family member at home. However, this is an uneasy task. Sometimes it can lead to exhaustion of a tender; nevertheless, stay in home environment has a positive effect on a patient. Findings about population{\crq}s ageing, old-age and physiologic changes caused in human body due to ageing, are included in the introductory theoretical part of the Bachelor{\crq}s Thesis. The following chapters devote of occurrence of cancer diseases, their prevention, characteristic symptoms and complex medication. An essential chapter is characteristics of an onco-geriatric nurse. Family function and complex insight on a family tender is described in the second concurring part of the Thesis followed by characteristics of separate biological-mental-social needs of a patient and their family. The Thesis is elaborated by use of a qualitative approach. Semi-standardized interview was used for data collection, the group of informants was structurally chosen. I have elaborated 12 detailed case reports according to the informants{\crq} responses. The interviews were held in home environment of the informants. The objective of the Thesis was to examine needs of families with regard to care for a client above 60 years of age with cancer disease. The second objective was to examine conditions enabling care for a client with cancer disease above 60 years of age to a family in home environment. The results revealed that the home tenders mostly miss offer of psychological care and sufficiency of information from specialists, in particular information from the field of finance. The most frequently mentioned condition enabling care for a senior with cancer disease to a family is free time. The free time of the main tender was enabled due to their retirement age or leaving their employment. Another condition is support of a family and other people.
