Migraine and the Quality of Life of the Patients: Influences Perception
Kontrová, Veronika ; Šmídová, Olga (advisor) ; Havrdová, Zuzana (referee)
This diploma thesis describes how the women suffering from the migraine apprehend their life. One of the first places in the whole thesis is taken by a preventive behavior as a first step in the fight with the disease. For understanding the examined subject, it is cardinal to become acquainted of the terms like a quality of life, health and disease, strategy of preventing and managing the disease. In the theoretical part, there is the disease itself mentioned, including its definition, clinical picture, classification, examination methods, prophylaxis and treatment. A larger space was dedicated to the provocative factors and the effects of disease, where recognizing and knowing them is for migraine prevention especially important. In the research part of the diploma thesis, on the base of the analysis of in-depth interviews, the data telling about influences perception by the women in the context of migraine were interpreted. A part of the research was dedicated also to the analysis of expert advices dealing with migraine prevention dedicated to the lay public. The author's own experience with the disease and the results of the research helped for development of diploma thesis' proposal part. Here, it is important to notice that the author has been personally and professionally interested all above...

Settlement in Hallstatt Period in the region České Budějovice
Berg, Lucie ; Frank Danielisová, Alžběta (advisor) ; Chvojka, Ondřej (referee)
This bachelor thesis studies the Hallstatt settlement of the Southern tip of České Budějovice Basin and the adjacent slightly rolling landscape located in the foothills of the Blanský Forest and the Strážkovice Area. The thesis presents the microregion within the South Bohemian context while also emphasizing its links with remoter areas (other areas in Bohemia, Bavaria, in the Mediterranean and in the Baltic region). Furthermore, it is dedicated to a more in-depth description and - up to a point - to the interpretation of the significance of settlements, sporadic archeological finds, surface collecting and tumulus burial grounds. A central role is played by the settlement in Planá, where an above-ground wooden stake construction dating from the Hallstatt period has been discovered. Part of the thesis is also a treatment of material collected during a field research conducted in Planá settlement in 2011. Keywords South Bohemia, microregion, the Hallstatt period, settlment, burrial mounds)

Polarized Radiative Transfer in Solar Atmosphere
Štěpán, Jiří ; Heinzel, Petr (advisor) ; Degĺ Innocenti, Egidio Landi (referee) ; Bueno, Javier Trujillo (referee)
The adequate theoretical models of the NLTE radiative transfer are needed for interpretation of the complicated spectra emerging from the magnetized solar atmosphere. In the first part of the thesis, the quantum theory of polarization is reviewed along with the problem of NLTE radiative transfer of the 2nd kind. A general notation for a numerical treatment of the atomic density matrix is introduced. A lambda-operator splitting technique is presented and used for development of a novel preconditioning method analogous to the Jacobi iteration algorithm. Number of processes is taken into account: atomic polarization, level-crossings, Paschen-Back effect, Hanle and Zeeman effects, optical pumping, collisional (de)polarization. A nonlinear multigrid technique is developed in the framework of polarized radiative transfer theory and the eficiency of the method is discussed. The potential of this new solver is demonstrated on an example of transfer of the optically thick line of a multiterm atom in the Paschen-Back effect regime. In the second part of the thesis, the particular problem of impact polarization of the hydrogen H-alpha line in solar flares is considered. The semi-empirical models of the flaring chromosphere are used to find the differential effects of the proton beam on the line intensity and linear...

Bedřich Fučík: literary critic (1900-1984)
Jürgens, Zuzana ; Brabec, Jiří (advisor) ; Binar, Vladimír (referee) ; Zizler, Jiří (referee)
The dissertation called "Bedřich Fučík: "Literary Critic (1900 - 1984)" deals with Bedřich Fučík's approach to a literary work of art and to the literary tradition, analyzing his point of departure (in the works of Otokar Březina, Jakub Deml, and F. X. Šalda) and the basic concepts of the critic, putting them into the context and chronological order. Single chapters introduce Fučík's notions of "tradition", "native region", "land", "struggle" and "love"; as extra-literary criteria (except for "tradition"), the notions are adapted en passant by the critic so that they could fit in with his concept. In doing so, Fučík creates his "own" line of Czech literature, based on the motif of the "land", "the song of the land". He sees the line run through such authors as Otokar Březina and Jakub Deml; out of his contemporaries, he emphasizes the works of Jan Zahradníček, Jan Čep and Vladimír Vokolek. The chapters about his treatment of their works exemplify his art of interpretation of a literary text. From the very beginning of Fučík's writing, there is an obvious awareness of the value crisis in the contemporary world; that crisis is, in his opinion, to be seen in contemporary art, as shown in his polemics with pragmatism and constructivism. To him, it is art that may and must face the crisis: not only does art...

Oriental medicine. Study possibilities and sale centers in Czech Republic.
Bělová, Veronika ; Klusoňová, Hana (advisor) ; Kudláčková, Zděnka (referee)
Traditional medicine becomes more and more popular. It's usage propagaces in all over the world. In some countries oriental medicine is means of national healthcare, whereas in others countries it undertakes a function associated therapy to classical medicine. These both systems are different, though in some areas they are similar. Traditional medicine differs in duration of history, by using theories in interpretation diseases and using theories in therapy. Traditional medicine uses medical means, which have long tradition. Effects of therapy in most cases aren't scientifically attested. Western, classic medicine has priority in continuous finding of newer, more efficient methods, which are tested by scientific methods. Basic theories eastern medicine theory jin/jang, theory of five elements and theory of cchi are the most important. Principles of these theories are reflected in all medical methods. Acupuncture, acupressure, moxibation, fytotherapy,… are basic methods of therapy. The western medicine uses latest experiences, attested by scientifical methods. It's target is providing safety, effective treatment in time of needs. Western medicine is mainly aimed to therapy actual health problem, prevention others healthy problems, which can origine secondary in consequence of manifestation of primary...

Construction contracts -- the ways of their accounting treatment
Mařasová, Lucie ; Krupová, Lenka (advisor) ; Strouhal, Jiří (referee)
This thesis is concerned with accounting for construction contracts in the accounting records of a contractor. The first chapter is focused on accounting for construction contracts according to IAS 11 -- Construction contracts and contains also a brief description of interpretations IFRIC 12 and IFRIC 15, which are connected with IAS 11. Next chapter describes accounting for construction contracts according to the US GAAP. One chapter is also dedicated to the requirements of Czech accounting legislature that Czech contractors have to take into account when accounting for construction contracts. Last chapter is conceived as a case study which was prepared in order to determine how construction companies -- concretely three European and three American construction companies -- deal with construction contracts in practice.

Sanctity of Life - Defence oh Bioetics Principle
Vodová, Jana ; Halama, Jindřich (advisor) ; Keřkovský, Pavel (referee)
The thesis titled "Sanctity of life - defence of bioethics principle" focuses on current ethical issues concerning the human life and medicine. The defence of the Sanctity of life doctrine, whose importance is diminishing due to current social changes and technological advances, will be based on both church and secural arguments. The aim of the thesis is to explain the doctrine and try to prove that it is still valid even beyond the religious field. The focus of the study narrows to the problems of intentional withdrawing treatment causing death, practise of passive and active euthanasia and negative implications connected with such a practise. Further, the principles and opinions of two bioethic doctrines Sanctity of life and Quality of life will be compared for both of which expressions such as dignity, value of human being and quality of life are very important. However, it is necessary to say, that it is the interpretation of these key points and especially the conclusions drawn from them what divides these two principles essentially. Quality of life doctrine represents a theory, that can be easily misused in the medical care area and this thesis attempts to challenge and disprove it, primarily because we can already see the alarming consequences of the doctrine put into practice. Medical oaths and...

Journey of a Hero: The Treatment of Mythology in the Work of William Butler Yeats
Vošahlíková, Martina ; Ženíšek, Jakub (advisor) ; Grmela, Josef (referee)
The thesis deals primarily with the influence of mythology in the work of William Butler Yeats and particularly focuses on his depiction of the ancient Celtic warrior Cuchulainn. The work briefly introduces the background of Irish mythology and its recordings; however the main interest lies in the interpretation of the myth by the Irish literary movement represented by W.B. Yeats and its contribution to the constitution of Ireland's national identity. The literary portrayal is contrasted with the way the hero Cuchualinn was recalled by the political leaders of the Irish revolution to illustrate the process of national symbols' formation. The challenge of the resulting establishment exemplified by the work of Mary T. Condren in the final part of the thesis points out to the opportunity of intentional selection of such symbols and opens the discussion of art's authority and influence.

Macrobius and his influence on the neo-Platonic interpretation of myths
Hlaváček, Jakub ; Putna, Martin C. (advisor) ; Kratochvíl, Zdeněk (referee) ; Pokorný, Martin (referee)
The dissertation outlines the fundamental topics in Macrobius' poetics and philosophy which were to serve as the theoretical grounding for the literature of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Our main focus was Macrobius' treatment of poetic modes imitations (imitatio) and its relation to a broader philosophical framework wherein poetic modes, viewed as ontological archetypes, represent the world of ideas. We have shown that imitation draws heavily on imagination, which in Late Antiquity became rather highly valued. We have seen that the creative treatment of a textual model (archetype) is rooted in the Stoic analogy of godly and human creative acts. The dissertation explains Macrobius' interpretation of myths and his arguments defending their use in philosophy. I believe that it was Macrobius' defence of the "truth of myths" (albeit we have seen that Macrobius was heavily drawing on Proclos here whose influence, however, was minimal) which lies at the heart of the medieval and Renaissance revival of interest in myths. Finally, we have discussed what role myths and other leading themes of the neo-Platonic and Stoic philosophy of Late Antiquity played in the alchemist literature of the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
