Online detection of simple voice commands in audiosignal
Zezula, Miroslav ; Březina, Lukáš (referee) ; Krejsa, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis describes the development of voice module, that can recognize simple speech commands by comparation of input sound with recorded templates. The first part of thesis contains a description of used algorithm and a verification of its functionality. The algorithm is based on Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients and dynamic time warping. Thereafter the hardware of voice module is designed, containing signal controller 56F805 from Freescale. The signal from microphone is conditioned by operational amplifiers and digital filter. The third part deals with the development of software for the controller and describes the fixed point implementation of the algorithm, respecting limited capabilities of the controller. Final test proves the usability of voice module in low-noise environment.

Jánoš, Andrej ; Bašta, Milan (advisor) ; Pecáková, Iva (referee)
Credit scoring is important and rapidly developing discipline. The aim of this thesis is to describe basic methods used for building and interpretation of the credit scoring models with an example of application of these methods for designing such models using statistical software R. This thesis is organized into five chapters. In chapter one, the term of credit scoring is explained with main examples of its application and motivation for studying this topic. In the next chapters, three in financial practice most often used methods for building credit scoring models are introduced. In chapter two, the most developed one, logistic regression is discussed. The main emphasis is put on the logistic regression model, which is characterized from a mathematical point of view and also various ways to assess the quality of the model are presented. The other two methods presented in this thesis are decision trees and Random forests, these methods are covered by chapters three and four. An important part of this thesis is a detailed application of the described models to a specific data set Default using the R program. The final fifth chapter is a practical demonstration of building credit scoring models, their diagnostics and subsequent evaluation of their applicability in practice using R. The appendices include used R code and also functions developed for testing of the final model and code used through the thesis. The key aspect of the work is to provide enough theoretical knowledge and practical skills for a reader to fully understand the mentioned models and to be able to apply them in practice.

Empirical Essays on Unemployment, Inflation and Access to Human Capital
Franta, Michal ; Münich, Daniel (advisor) ; Blien, Uwe (referee) ; Galuščák, Kamil (referee)
This dissertation consists of three distinct topics within labor macroeconomics, applied microeconomics, and applied time-series econometrics. The first essay extends the standard methodology used in analyzing unemployment duration. The extension is applied on empirical data for the Czech Republic and France. Furthermore, unemployment dynamics are examined in terms of unemployment incidence and duration for the Czech Republic, 1992-2007. The second essay belongs to the field of the economics of education. It contributes to the discussion on the equal access to higher education. The theoretical (structural) model of an individual schooling decision is set up and the implied reduced form is estimated on a unique data set of all secondary school graduates in the Czech Republic in 1998. Finally, the third essay deals with the inflation dynamics. It draws on extensive research in the modeling of the inflation process in developed countries. Nevertheless, the focus is on developing countries where specific economic and consequently econometric issues have to be considered.

Impact assessment case study : EU ETS and investment decision-making of power generators
Chvalkovská, Jana ; Hrubý, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Mejstřík, Michal (referee)
This thesis is focused on the assessment of impacts of the regulatory uncertainty related to the EU Emission Trading System (EU ETS) on investment decision-making of power generators. The need for investments in new power generation capacities that would be capable to satisfy in the future the growing electricity demand is currently a discussed topic on the Czech as well as on the EU level. These investments are endangered by the uncertainty regarding the future development of the EU ETS regulatory framework, which is a major price driver of the tradable emission allowances. This thesis uses the real option model to analyze the impacts of potential future developments of the emission allowance prices on the investments into new power plants and identifies the regulatory uncertainty as one of the major causes, why investors postpone the investment into the construction of new sources. The analysis is embedded into a broader framework depicturing the EU ETS and the impact assessment procedure conducted by the European Commission. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Signalling of protein kinase B and expression of cyclooxygenase in early phases of diabetic nephropathy
Ždychová, Jana ; Komers, Radko (advisor) ; Haluzík, Martin (referee) ; Matoušovic, Karel (referee) ; Škrha, Jan (referee)
Introduction: Renal hypertrophy, extracellular matrix accumulation, aItered apoptosis as well as changes in regional hemodynamics have been implicated in the pathophysiology of nephropathy in diabetes mellitus (DM). On the molecular level the detailed mechanisms for development of diabetic nephropathy (DN) have becn intensively studied. Insulin induces a variety of biologicaI effects in a number of cell types via phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase (PI3K)/Akt kinase signaling pathway. Considering multiple function of Akt that incIude potentiaIly hannful pro-growth effects mediated by mTOR and cyclooxygenas-2 (COX-2), as well as protective effects mediated by endotheliaI nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), it is possible that aIterations in activities of Akt may play role in the pathophysiology ofDN. Renal corticaI activity and expression of Akt, its down-strearn effectors mTOR, eNOS, and "C<JIX-:Z. as well as PTEN, an endogenous Akt inhibitor, were investigated in streptozotocin (STZ): diabetic rats as a model of Type 1 DM with different levels of glycenůc control, and in Zucker ~d.iabetic fatty rats, a model ofDM2, and in nondiabetic rats as controls. Methods: Akt activity was measured by kinase assay. Protein expressions were measured by .immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry in renal cortex of 4- and 12- week old...

Procurement of Transportation Services in Anheuser-Busch InBev
Ivashkevich, Alexandra ; Vinš, Marek (advisor) ; Kolář, Petr (referee)
Nowadays, companies involved in the international trade and production of goods in order to retain customers and increase market share are forced to assure excellence in the performance at all stages of their supply chains. Transportation plays critical role and can be argued to be the most crucial link in the supply chain determining its success or failure. However, regardless of such high importance, this process is very often outsourced as companies do not possess sufficient expertise and resources to deploy this function in-house. Thus, companies have to develop effective strategies and plan their procurement activities accordingly and then manage the outcome. There is not a lot of studies that would take a narrow look at the development of procurement strategy for transportation services in particular. This work is aimed to get the insight and discuss strategic, planning level and post operational evaluation of the procurement of transportation services and explore practical implication on the example of AB InBev through in-depth interviews with company employees. As an outcome this work is aimed to provide an outline of the company performance, value added or negative aspects as a result of application of previously discussed strategies.

Configuration of factors influencing the formation of addiction in adolescents
Brotánková, Tereza
This thesis concerns the problems of the juvenile drug-addicts, who were ordered preliminary ruling or undertaking in-patient treatment by the Court. The object of the thesis involves realization of the configuration of the factors, which has led to drug abuse by six juvenile persons. Furthermore, it points out the possibilities and risks of intervention from the state authorities and institutions in case of occurance of behaviour disorder and negative phenomenons of the social development of a child. From the methodological point of view the matter concerns the qualitative approach whereby the methods of gaining of the data have involved interviews, work with the documents and observation. The data have been analyzed by means of descriptive approach, the method of creating of the tufts and the method of retrieval and distinguishing of the relationships. The interpretation has run in three phases. The first phase involved processing of the collected data in order to distinguish the basic categories and subcategories of the analysis, during the second phase the whole life-experience of the juvenile drugaddicts in the form of the case study has been performed, during the third phase the case studies are being discussed with the existing "Profiles" of the drugaddicts.
