Evaluation of Entrepreneurial Opportunities in the Context of Entrepreneur's Experience and Opportunity Type
Vydláková, Pavlína ; Lukeš, Martin (advisor) ; Andera, Michal (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to find out how start-ups or beginning entrepreneurs evaluate business opportunities. More specifically, the intention is to reveal whether their assessment of business opportunities differs in some way depending on the type of opportunity. It was then examined how the assessment of business opportunities differs from the perspective of beginning versus experienced entrepreneurs. This comparison used the research results of Laboutka (2010), who examined the assessment of the opportunities of experienced entrepreneurs. The research method used was a qualitative research using case studies that reflect business opportunities. Based on the investigation it was found that beginning entrepreneurs mostly reflect personal feelings related to that product or segment in evaluating opportunities and the type of opportunity does not play a major role. When comparing beginning and experienced entrepreneurs, there were not identified any significant differences in their assessments.

Ekonomický význam wellness turismu se zaměřením na lázeňství v České Republice
Smrčka, Pavel ; Štěrbová, Ludmila (advisor)
This master thesis aims to provide a complex up-to-date overview of the spa industry in the Czech Republic and to analyze the position of Spa Luhačovice. Having shown the growing global importance of wellness tourism, the focus moves onto the spa industry which plays a major role in wellness. Nevertheless, the medical significance of spas can't be overlooked, especially in the Czech Republic where spas are known for the quality of medical care. While statistical reports from the Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic and from the Czech Statistical Office are being examined and analyzed in the country's perspective, Global Wellness Institute provides the majority of the global wellness and spa data. The thesis shows the current state of the industry in the country with its strengths and weaknesses. Moreover, the practical part is focused on Spa Luhačovice, the biggest spa in Moravia region. Various information and data are compared to overall development of the spa industry in the country. Finally, an interview with the spa representative is conducted to further clarify the findings of this thesis.

Meta-Analysis in Economics: Application to Measuring the Euro's Trade Effect
Polák, Petr ; Havránek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Havránková, Zuzana (referee)
Meta-analysis is a very strong and effective tool designed for the synthesis of results of empirical research. It provides a possibility to make reliable conclusions and offers more systematic and unbiased view at empirical studies than do narrative reviews. This thesis begins with description of meta-analysis from the theoretical point of view and, therefore, is the first Czech-written methodology of modern meta-analysis suitable for economics. This part is followed by an applied meta-analysis that investigates the euro effect on common trade exchange, and the analysis is focused on publication bias and the use of the multilevel random effects model. The empirical part is based on 2580 estimates gathered from 33 studies that investigate the relationship between euro and trade volume. The meta-analysis reveals the presence of publication bias, confirms the economic research cycle hypothesis and estimates, according to the available literature, that the true Rose effect lies probably between 2 and 6 percent.

Monolayers of platinum nanoparticles prepared by dip-coating
Černohorský, Ondřej ; Grym, Jan ; Yatskiv, Roman ; Pham, V.H. ; Hudry, D. ; Dickerson, J.H.
Platinum is a transition metal known for its catalytic properties, which are further enhanced when employed in a nanoparticle form. We have recently shown that a monolayer of Pt nanoparticles deposited on semiconductor substrates forms high quality Schottky diodes, which were used in sensitive hydrogen sensors with a detection limit of 1 ppm of H-2 in N-2. Preparation of ordered monolayers of Pt nanoparticles is essential for the understanding of the behaviour of such an interface. To obtain a hexagonal closed-packed nanoparticle array, we prepared Pt nanoparticles stabilized by oleylamine and oleic acid with a narrow size distribution and uniform shapes. A monolayer prepared by dip-coating of Si substrate in the suspension containing Pt nanoparticles showed hexagonal arrangement within separate domains with the surface coverage up to 90%. The increase of the surface coverage with increasing withdrawal speed of the dip-coating process was observed

Counterfeiting and altering of money
Barák, Michal ; Gřivna, Tomáš (advisor) ; Herczeg, Jiří (referee)
in English This thesis deals with the issue of counterfeiting, in terms of both criminal and criminological perspective. Its opening is devoted to the money, especially to their historical development. The following chapter, number three, continuously moves to the description of the most widely used security features of money, especially of banknotes. Although these security features are not the subject of my thesis, this part can look quite dominant. However, I am convinced that the technical protection of money plays the pivotal role it the whole issue, so I gave them enough space at the beginning of work. The following section deals with the valid legislation and focuses primarily on the enumeration and analysis of the actus reaus under the Criminal Code. In my opinion, the focus only on criminal legislation is inadequate, and therefore I consider it is necessary to mention also other legislation which is significantly related, ie Act No. 136/2011 Coll., on the circulation of banknotes and coins and amending Act No. 6/ 1993 Coll. on the Czech National Bank, as amended, which contains mainly the Czech National Bank's role in the issues mentioned above and responsibilities of defined group of persons handling the money suspected of counterfeiting. The procedure of the Police of the Czech Republic...

The usage of algae in biogas transformation
Paroulkova, P. ; Sukačová, Kateřina ; Murgasová, K. ; Vítěz, T. ; Chovanec, J.
Using of algae in a biogas transformation is still in the beginning. However, the microalgae have large potential from the perspective of growing demands on biogas quality and trend of using, natural resources. First of all, it is their ability to fix carbon dioxide (CO2) using photosynthesis and presumed ability of some algae to metabolize hydrogen sulphide (H2S). Biogas contains not only required methane but also components causing its worse quality such as mentioned CO2 and H2S. Therefore, the algae are potential biological systems for biogas-conditioning. The microalga Chlorella pyrenoidosa Chick (IPPAS C2) was used for fixation of CO2 and H2S in our experiment. The microalgae were cultivated in a medium BG 11. The algal suspension was aerated with the biogas during two weeks. Different values of CO2 concentration measured in the input and output confirmed decrease of CO2 caused by intensive growth of algal culture. Decline of H2S was not confirmed.

Termination of employment contracts
Holoubková, Aneta ; Soušková, Milena (advisor) ; Spirit, Michal (referee)
The final thesis deals with the theme of termination of employment contracts from the perspective of the law and the practice of the company. The aim of thesis is to introduce the reader to the issue of employment termination, to show the changes of Act No. 262/2006 Coll. Labour Code that became effective on January 1, 2012 with amendment No. 365/2011 Coll. in the theme of this thesis and to identify practices of employment termination in the monitored company. The methods used are observation, comparison, analysis and synthesis. In the theme of termination of employment contracts, the focus is given to termination by the employee, employer or by mutual agreement and also to invalid employment termination. However, the reader is in the first chapters familiarized with employment relations and subjects of these relations as well. A separate part of the thesis is concerned on the practice of company doing business in the banking sector, in this part are described practices of this company in terminating employment relationships and the impact of the amendment to the Labour Code on the monitored company.

The Economic Crisis in Specific EU Countries: Spain and Ireland
Příhoda, Pavel ; Stuchlíková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Hnát, Pavel (referee)
The thesis analyses and compares the economies of Spain and Ireland in the run up to and during the current economic and financial crisis. Firstly, the focus is on the pre-crisis period since the mid 90's, the causes and extent of the price bubble on the property markets, the caracter of lending boom and the indebtedness of the private sector. The end of the lending boom and conjuncture on the real estate markets in 2006-2007 had strong impact on real economy and the financial sector. Both countries currently pass through a three-level crisis: economic, banking and debt crisis. The aim of the thesis is to examine their causes, evolution and causal links. The paper also illustrates future perspectives of both countries in context of the membership in EMU and possible solutions to their current situation.

The Czech and Italian non-profit sector : different and therefore uncomparable systems
Novotná, Petra ; Cahlík, Tomáš (referee) ; Kameníček, Jiří (advisor)
Bachelor thesis The Czech and Italian Non-profit sector: Different and Therefore Uncomparable Systems offers an overview of the functioning of non-profit organizations in the Czech Republic and Italy. The main part is divided into two sections so each country is given a separate section. In the beginning is always summarized a historical development and events that most influenced the later development of the nonprofit sector. Next there are introduced types and forms of non-profit organizations, some of legislation arrangements and other basic information. In the analytical part I paid attention to various aspects of current affairs in particular sectors, i.e. new opportunities arising from the Czech accession to the EU or closer introduction of the main types of Italian non-profit organizations. Part of this section is also a general overview suggesting a relationship of local economies to their non-profit sectors. Finally, there is presented one selected Czech and Italian non-profit organization. I concluded my work with an unusual ending which explains the inability to compare the above mentioned sectors.

Introduction of Smart Metering: Ramifications for Business Management in Medium-sized Energy Providers
Selmke, Pierre ; Heřman, Jan (advisor) ; Neumaierová, Inka (referee) ; Markovič, Peter (referee)
In the European Union (EU), increasing final energy efficiency, so as to save energy, has become mandatory. This obligation will fundamentally alter the EU energy sector. The relevant EU directive, 2006/32/EG, requires that adjustments be made to energy billing and, where technically feasible, that new metering technologies (i.e. smart metering) be introduced. Individual EU countries are implementing these requirements in different ways: Smart metering is either being nearly fully implemented (e.g. in Italy), is being planned (e.g. in Germany), or completely disregarded (e.g. in the Czech Republic). Since the introduction of smart metering affects virtually all value-added steps, organisational structures and areas of operation in medium-sized energy providers, these providers must take the relevant requirements into account at as early a stage as possible. The present thesis analyses the effects of the introduction of smart metering on the business management of such companies. A deductive method was chosen and the effects of intro- ducing smart metering were assessed through a cross-sectional study of two separate data collections. Experts were interviewed and their statements were qualitatively evaluated. A written survey followed via online questionnaires, the results of which were quantitatively evaluated. Institutional, functional and activity-based perspectives were considered as well as normative, strategic and operative aspects of business management. The evaluation of the survey enabled a better assessment and analysis of the introduction of smart metering. An analysis of the scope of the upcoming alterations within energy providers illustrates just how fundamental a change this will bring to medium-sized energy providers. However, the outcome of the written survey shows that most executives do not recognise this need for change and therefore are unable to initiate it. These management deficiencies threaten the very existence of these companies and must be resolved through the timely initiation of consistent change management.
