Effect of pentoxifyllin on advanced dementia with predominated cardiovascular symptoms
Mészárosová, Jitka ; Ďoubal, Stanislav (advisor) ; Náhlovský, Jiří (referee) ; Mrňa, Boris (referee)
The high consumption of Pentoxifyllin in patients suffering from vascular dementia led to a concern and a clinical trial conducted in the nursing home in Česká Kamenice from 2001 to 2004. The retrospective survey was carried out on 176 patients and lasted 12 months. If we consider the currently valid criteria for the diagnosis of vascular dementia, the patients showed an advanced form of the disease. The experiment did not demonstrate any positive influence of treatment on either cardiovascular diseases or the mortality of afflicted patients. Despite the fact that we could expect the medicament to have a favourable influence on the symptoms of the advanced form of vascular dementia it was not proven so. It is absolutely essential for doctors to have good background knowledge of diseases and all kinds of particularities accompanying old age, especially when it comes to the early detection of dementia. High consumption of Pentoxifyllin led to a number of experiments and studies trying to prove its efficiency and hence justify prescripcions for the drug. An extended study carried out in 1996 demonstrated the favourable effects of Pentoxifyllin. Our experiment has also showed signs of improvement in pateints with weaker forms of dementia. Final decision on the suitability of the treatment with...

Minor mothers in the Romani communities
Buzková, Alena ; Večerka, Kazimír (advisor) ; Víšek, Petr (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Minor mothers in the Romani communities" addresses the phenomenon of minor mothers in the traditional Romani community. More generally, the demographic behavior of the Romanies is analyzed, and discussed with respect to the overall demographic data valid for the population of the Czech Republic. This thesis and its conclusions are based on the author's own research performed in Poschlá, a suburb of the city of Vsetín. The Romani community in Vsetín is introduced, including notes on its history. It is pointed out that the community still exhibits remarkable respect to the outstanding role of the typical extended family structure, which significantly influences the demographic behavior of the community. The author also notes fundamental differences concerning the mean lifespan of the Romanies versus the majority population, by which the typical early timing and extension of the female reproduction period can be explained naturally. Such conclusions are justified by the author's own research dealing with three overlapping generations of the Romani mothers in Vsetín, with focus on their age at the time of their first delivery. The thesis also discusses various aspects of social work and its efficiency regarding the issues related to minor mothers and their families.

The reception of antiquity in the poetry of Jiří Karásek ze Lvovic (in comparison with Stanislav Kostka Neumann)
Sirovátka, Štěpán ; Vojvodík, Josef (advisor) ; Merhaut, Luboš (referee)
The end of the nineteenth century is in European art clearly marked with the return to antiquity. This work deals with the reception and reevaluation of the ancient tradition within the poetic work of Jiří Karásek ze Lvovic and Stanislav Kostka Neumann. The early, decadent, period of Karásek's work is characterized as a Daedalic-Dionysian model, Neumann's decadent poetry as a Dionysian-Daedalic model and the second period of Karásek's work, marked with a classicizing tendency, as an Apollonian model. These models of reception are considered complementary. As an interpretation clue to all three models the author has chosen Hocke's and Curtius' theory of a Great Mannerism, i. e. changing of manneristic and classic periods in European cultural history, and Nietzsche's dichotomy of classical antiquity as a combination of Dionysian and Apollonian element. The neomanneristic interpretation of Karásek's work is supported by the interpretation of the decadent poetics as a new gnosis, although peculiarly reciped. Therefore, in this case, reception of antiquity may be viewed very broadly as a search for a common root, a cultural or anthropological constant extending through history; not strictly as a plain reception of ancient motifs.

The participial system of Czech and the position of the active past participle in -vš- in it
Giger, Markus
At the beginning of the 19th century in a new active past participle in -vš- was built in Czech according to the Russian model, in the circle of J. Jungmann before 1820. It was first mentioned in the grammar by František Novotný z Luže in 1818. After 1820 it was already quite usual, although its frequency was not very high. Compared to the situation today it was often built from imperfective verbs and it usually was syntactically extended. Nevertheless a glance at translations from Russian from this time shows that the translators were quickly aware of the fact that the imperfective active past participle can be replaced by a present participle when expressing contemporaneity and that many intransitive Czech verbs had already an active past participle in -l- that could be used instead of the new participle in -vš-. The emergence of the Czech active past participle in -vš- is an interesting case of intentional language contact in a bookish part of the system of the standard language.

Kečuové z Otavala a jejich sociokulturní specificka
Sedláčková, Sara
SEDLÁČKOVÁ, Sara. Quechua people of Otavalo and their sociocultural specifications. Mendel University in Brno, 2015. Bachelor thesis. The thesis presents the successful Quechan merchants from Otavalo, that managed turn their own culture and craft into prosperous business. These merchants travel with their business all around the world, where they bring their customs as well as their festivities. Their current identity has been formed throughout the history, when the most important influence had the Inca and Spanish occupation. Although the indigenous communities are usually the poorest people in Ecuador, Quechua people from Otavalo have, thanks to their business, earned privileged status in Otavalo, where they have great influence. This influence extends even to the national level, especially trough indigenous movement, in which Otavalo played important role.

Regression Analysis of Spatially and Time Distributed Data
Rosecký, Martin ; Hübnerová, Zuzana (referee) ; Bednář, Josef (advisor)
This thesis summarizes findings about municipal solid waste (MSW) forecasting. Basic information about linear regression and correlation analysis were described. Analysis of influencing factors was realized on municipality with extended competence level. The resulting models explain up to 99 % of variability. Final models of MSW per capita explain between 12 and 75 % of variability. Variability explained by model of MSW per capita is lower by 20 % than comparable study which however uses data that are not usually available. Models can be used in waste management and their simplicity is benefit for real usage.

The role and place of the voluntary fire brigade in ensuring community emergency preparedness in selected administrative districts of municipalities with extended powers
ZUNT, Josef
The service unit in the village volunteer fire brigade (the "Municipality JSDH") by members, as provided generally by appointment. Actual performance of services is usually limited to work in implementing liquidation and rescue work. Unit voluntary fire brigade of the village is not just fighting fires, but the whole of the removal of incidents (traffic accidents, the aftermath of natural elements water, wind). For these purposes, members of voluntary fire brigade units of the village prepared, trained and acquire habits that will use it to help people.

Paralinguistic signals recognition in spoken dialogs
Mašek, Jan ; Míča, Ivan (referee) ; Atassi, Hicham (advisor)
This document describes the three methods for the detection and classification of paralinguistic expressions such as laughing and crying from usual speech by analysis of the audio signal. The database of records was originally designed for this purpose. When analyzing everyday dialogs, music might be included, so the database was extended by four new classes as speech, music, singing with music and usual speech with background music. Feature extraction, feature reduction and classification are common steps in recognizing for all three methods. Difference of the methods is given by classification process in detail. One classification of all six classes at once is proposed in the first method called straight approach. In the second method called decision tree oriented approach we are using five intuitive sub classifiers in the tree structure and the final method uses for classification emotion coupling approach. The best features were reduced by feature evaluation using F-ratio and GMM classifiers were used for the each classification part.

Súčasné prístupy k nákladovej alokácii a vývoj typizovaného programového rozhrania v nástroji IBM Cognos TM1
Fedoročko, Peter ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Bothe, Ondřej (referee)
Thesis is devoted to current trends in approaching cost allocation developed in IBM Cognos TM1 software. Concept, which was originally elaborated in my bachelor thesis, has recently experienced restrictions caused by increasing requirements on analytical tools and information they provide. Goal of the thesis is therefore to analyse causalities of emerging weaknesses, design and develop optimalized and reengineered solution answering current demands. Reqarding the quantitative evaluation of attained results, the thesis is extended with analysis of frameworks and standards dedicated to benchmarking of OLAP tools and their synthesis into own complex model. Proposed model specializes on measuring multiple OLAP applications across four main perspectives including performance, development, usability and financial benefits. Attained results prove, that reengineered model is faster, data richer, easier to use and appropriate for any organization with structured and algorithmic approach to cost allocation. Second half of the thesis focuses on extending the presentation layer to web browser, designing and developing of custom visualizations for most usual analytic tasks. Considering the absence of advanced application interface in IBM Cognos TM1, the thesis also includes theoretical analysis of current trends in API development and design of concept allowing communication and data transportation between applications and TM1 server. In the concluding section of the thesis, proposed concept is materialized into universal library developed in PHP and applied to novel allocation model. Leveraging the library, two exemplary interfaces for allocator operation and data consumption are implemented. Gained knowledge can serve as basis for development of additional components communicationg with TM1 in variety of projects or theoretical framework for API implementation in general.

Analysis of Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic effectiveness with DEA models
Milnerová, Karolína ; Jablonský, Josef (advisor) ; Dlouhý, Martin (referee)
This thesis deals with DEA models (Data envelopment analysis), which are models for measuring the efficiency of peer decision making units (DMUs). First part focus on basic DEA models (CCR model, BCC model) and this part is extended by new CH-CCR model, which considering that the variables (inputs or outputs) are usually strongly correlated. In second part is included description of network-based models, which are afterwards applicated on data of FRS CR (Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic). Using this models is solved efficiency of FRS CR through the regions.
