Werenwolves in European culture context
Koubová, Michaela ; Opletalová, Lenka (referee) ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor)
We have met a motif of the werewolf in the course of the whole European cultural history. Already ancient authors - poets, historians and doctors, as well, devoted themselves to study of this phenomenon. In particular, a zone of Arcadia and its mythical king Lykaon were the most emblazoned with werewolf myths. German ulfhednars and quantity of Slavic superstitions show that belief in werewolves was widespread among the other European nations. Even in Middle Ages werewolves did not fall into oblivion, and there dealt with them not only religious literature, but also belles lettres - of which poem Bisclaveret of Maria de France is probably the most famous. Actual expansion and intensification of belief in werewolves occurred in the early modern age, owing to that many paid life. Werewolfness was particularly in France a widespread crime. Work of religious and other authors on whether and how the metamorphosis of humans in the animal is possible, we can see up to the late modern times. A different view, however, remained doctors, who since antiquity claimed that lykantropia is a kind of melancholy, and therefore a mental illness. Of the many superstitions and myths, the theme was taken over by literature and later by film in 19th and especially in 20th century. Flood of horrors and fantasy, which we can meet...

The title of my bachelor's work is Ihe new nomenclatures motivated by the proper names o f the native politicians. The main goal of this work is to give a notice on the creation of some new lexical units, which are motivated by the proper names of the native personalities active in politics. The main theme of my work is the role of the proper names in the creation of the new words and a comparison of these neologisms with the fromproper nomenclatures, which are written in published explanatory dictionaries so far. On the basis of those comparisons I am seeking to prove that from-proper names creation of the new words is in Czech language productive and common word-building process. The method of my research is a specific excerption of the daily press, where I am looking for the infiltrations of the neologisms, which are word-buildingly motivated by the proper names of the native politicians, to the present language. I am analyzing these neologisms from the word-building point of view, from the semantic point of view and I am focusing also on the using productivity of the given word-building types. 1 compare my research with the proper literature and I summarize that the neo-creation from proper names is significant and high productive language phenomenon, which is enriching present language word-stock with...

Beyond words: visual aspects in the work of Virginia Woolf
Šilpochová, Michaela ; Beran, Zdeněk (referee) ; Hilský, Martin (advisor)
Throughout her career Woolf was captivated by questions about the relationship between literature and painting, word and image. Her intense interest in the field of the visual arts was reflected in her development of a new literary method. Woolf's use of the visual arts in her writing largely transcends a mere decorative function. Her employment in her texts of visuality represents a significant stylistic innovation by means of which she rejects the conventional way of depicting reality and the descriptive realism of the nineteenth- century writers. In attempt to develop a modern way of writing, which would render reality more in accord with the modern sensibility, she employed in her texts principles underlying the contemporary theory and practice in the visual arts relying particularly on the aesthetics of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. The principles of these two styles exist side by side and complement each other even in Woolf's later works which have been considered as predominantly post-impressionist. The objectives of Post- Impressionist art became known to Woolf through the theories of Roger Fry which turned out to be a major formative influence in the shift towards her new aesthetics.

Supervision in the Helping Professions
AUBRECHTOVÁ, Kateřina
In Czech literature, supervision is usually referred to as inspection or overview. Certain authors claim that supervision would not be supervision without either of them. Supervision provides an overview, which is important in solving occupational issues and monitoring the workers' quality and professionalism. The theoretical section explains the basic terms that are related to the title of the essay. It explains the word supervision, auxiliary professions, supervision and its forms, objectives, methods and a supervision contract. The text also specifies who can submit supervision, which criteria the supervisor must fulfil and the relation between the supervisor and the supervised. The essay determines supervising methods (and techniques) used in selected institutions and reveals whether and how the supervisor allows for typology of the clients with whom the institution works. It also ascertains how the supervised persons perceive the supervisors. I specified three research issues: 1. What does supervision give to the supervised? 2. Do the supervisors apply different supervising methods according to the client's typology? 3. Does the supervisor heed typology of clients that are a target group of the given institution? In the practical section of the essay, I applied a form of qualitative research with regard to the specified objectives. For collection of data, I used a research method based on queries and an associated research method of semi-structured interviews. I appended the queries with an observation method. Eighteen persons participated in the interviews. Fifteen of the supervised persons came from three different institutions (a Charity Home for Mothers with Children, a Nursing Home in Havlíčkův Brod and an Institute of Social Care in Zboží) and three persons were supervisors, one from each institution. The essay may help to improve knowledge of persons with auxiliary professions on the supervision and facilitate supervision in various institutions with regard to the clients' typologies.

Lexicological view of the language of sport commentaries/Lexikologický pohled na jazyk sportovních komentátorů
MESZ, Marek
The diploma thesis deals with the speech of sport commentaries and expressions used by sport commentators during sport broadcast. The thesis focuses on the lexicological level of their speech. The theoretical part at first presents a short summary of language of sport journalism and then the major part of the theoretical part is dedicated to meaning. Several different approaches to meaning are presented in this part as well as definition of meaning itself. Theoretical part also defines semantic change and it focuses on polysemy and homonymy and their distinction. The practical part is dedicated to the occurrence of polysemous and homonymous words among arbitrary chosen sport terms. The diploma thesis should contribute to the further study of the language of sport commentaries. The thesis should also be useful for the scientific and public society and it should serve as a link between those two areas.

"Don t be Afraid!" - in the Work of John Paul II.
VALASOVÁ, Eva
My work deals with John Paul´s II.message of today´s world. He appealed to the words of our Messiah Jesus Christ Don´t be afraid.`` It brings the message and the Holy Fater wrote about it up to present days. These messages are still the actual appeal for our faith. During the centuries the question of human fear, anxiety and pain is still current. It refers to a source of human fear, which it comes from, how the Holy Father comprehended. It also refers to a question of human fear from the historical, biblical and psychological aspect. My work is identified with hope which the Holy Fater wrote about. This hope means to accept enjoyable message of the Gospel and to live completely loyally with Jesus Christ. The objektive of my work is to realize, what was John Paul´s appeal: Remember that you are loved by God.`` You are loved and redeemed by Jesus Chris´t s blood to a true freedom. Sincle only the true love overcomes the fear.
