Nurse and Evaluating the Range of Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit
Ševčíková, Sylvie ; Eislerová, Iva (advisor) ; Heczková, Jana (referee)
This diploma thesis investigates to what degree the evaluative and measuring techniques are used when assessing separate areas of condition of a neurosurgical patient in intensive care. The reason why I have chosen this topic was the increasing demands on nurses' performance and medical documentation as well. The rating scales method enables in a standard and proved way to assess the patient's condition and document the gained data. The rating scale, when used properly, can also make nurses' work easier. The first part of this diploma thesis focuses on definitions important to this topic. The second part is focused on processing scales used for the neurosurgical patient in intensive care. I have chosen the most used methods which are used for assessment of the patient's consciousness and the extent of sedation, assessment of severity of thrombophlebitis, pressure ulcer risk assessment, assessment of nutritional status, pain and fall risk assessment, evaluation of muscle strength and final evaluation of the patient's condition. In the practical part the anonymous questionnaire was used for investigation. There were 105 questionnaires from eight wards of three different hospitals evaluated. Key words: rating scale, neurosurgical patient, intensive care unit, risks to the patient, evaluation of the patient

Phase-separated systems biopolymer-lipid
Kubalová, Barbora ; Pekař, Miloslav (referee) ; Mravec, Filip (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with experimental study of interaction based on polymer-lipid system. The main goal was to investigate interaction leading to phase separation. Three anionic polyelectrolytes were selected for this purpose: sodium hyaluronate, sodium chondroitin-6-sulfate and sodium poly(4-styrenesulfonate). The liposomes were formulated by sonication of lipid – cationic 1,2-dipalmitoyl-3-trimethylamonium-propane (chloride salt) and zwitterionic 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-phosphocholine. It was found that the phase separation occured at specific ratio of DPTAP and selected polymer. It was also explored that the strong electrostatic interaction which leads to the phase separation can be weaken by increasing the ionic strength in the sample. As we aspected the systems contain the hydrophobic domain and therefore these are able to incorporate hydrophobic substances in their structure.

Suitable lubricants for deep drawing of stainless steel
Mück, Jonáš ; Staněk, Vojtěch (referee) ; Lidmila, Zdeněk (advisor)
The intention of this thesis is the experimental evaluation of different lubricants and their suitability for deep drawing of stainless steel 1.4404. The testing method is based on the friction model at the point of drawing edge and retainers. This model corresponds with a structure of testing fixture. The suitability of every single lubricant for this application has been determined by comparison of the output, which is dependance of the strength on the track with the reference results. The testing has been performed on many different samples provided by various manufacturers. The best result was measured with the oil Kalorex AT 650 S, manufactured by AT Oil, which belongs to the group of environmentally harmful lubricants. Based on the results of this experiment we can conclude that chlorine content significantly increases the lubrication capability especially under high pressure. The modification of preparation geometry which presumes the elimination of certain undesirable disturbances accompnaying the experiemnt has been also proposed.

Controversy about Šumava: Strengths and weaknesses of the ecological principle of consensus
Chomátová, Eliška ; Stöckelová, Tereza (advisor) ; Čermák, Daniel (referee)
The thesis is based on a qualitative research realized in summer 2008 in several municipalities in Šumava. Focus groups organized within this research aimed at the relationship of different stakeholders to the Šumava National Park and more generally to nature and environmentalist thoughts and actors. The research design and the data gathered are presented in the introduction. Then the theory of general principles of consensus is described, which serves as the main theoretical framework for the study of focus groups participants' arguments. Using particular arguments, I show that against the protection of nature as it is realized by Šumava National Park Authority, critical citizens build their arguments on values that are considered legitimate and important in Czech society. The next part of the thesis studies the ecological principle of consensus as a new general principle of consensus: I discuss the conditions for existence of such a principle, its form in the controversy about the management of Šumava and the implications its form can have, supporting broader acceptance of the principle or, on the contrary, its rejection. An important point there is the relationship between expertise and participation, which are, together with the concept of nature, main elements of the ecological principle of...

Kinesiolgy analysis of function selected muscles of upper limb after brest augmentation
Víšková, Anna ; Kračmar, Bronislav (advisor) ; Véle, František (referee)
Summary: Title: Kinesiologic analysis of function of selected upper limb muscles after female breast augmentation Objectives: The aim of this research is to analyze the functionality and scope of involvement of the injured muscles due to plastic surgical augmentation procedure at pre-selected physical activities before and after surgery a few months later (specifically, three months - the time the patient left the recovery) using a noninvasive surface electromyography (EMG). Methods: A Case Study measuring method of noninvasive surface electromyography in combination with the method of temporal phase shifts involved in the activation of muscle movement, accompanied by a support method of integrated EMG. Results: There differences have been observed in the timing of individual muscles measured during performing selected testing exercises before and after completion of the augmentation plastic surgery operatios. Furthermore, the possibility of the loss of muscle strength has been detected by some measured muscles and this has the potential to take over functions of damaged muscles. Key words: plastic surgery, female breast augmentation, surface electromyography, upper limb muscles, musculus pectoralis major

This Bachelor thesis is focused on strength design and strain-stress analysis of truss construction. Simplified as a plain truss construction. One of the main goals of this thesis is calculate stresses for each member of the construction, depending on the load position. The cross section of beams were designed respecting safety conditions. The influence of the gravity field was not taken into account.

Short fiber reinforced composite for dental use: preparation and characterization
Henkrichová, Jana ; Přikryl, Radek (referee) ; Poláček, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis studies short fiber reinforced composites for dental applications. Barium particulate filler, nanosilica and short glass and polyvinylalcohol fibers were added to the matrix consisting of four dimethacrylate types of monomers. The effect on material properties was observed. For characterization of different types of composite materials following methods were used: thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), three point bending test for notched and un-notched samples and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Viscoelastic properties, modulus of elasticity and strength, critical values of stress intensity factor and strain energy release rate and polymerization shrinkage of composite materials were determined. It is possible to improve these properties of composite materials by adding short fibres to particulate reinforced composite. To make this modification more efficient, it is necessary to change surface treatment of fibres and preparation method of short fiber reinforced composites. Viscosity of material has raised after adding short fibers and processing of these types of dental material in dental laboratory is considered difficult to provide.

Experience the czech population with age discrimination
VALENTOVÁ, Jindra
Abstract. At present ageism is a commencing problem which is necessary to deal with. Originally an English term has no Czech equivalent and it denotes discrimination or differentiation on the basis of age implying prejudices towards elderly people. It concerns statements and attitudes without true and reasonable basis. Some manifestations of discrimination are evident, some remain not pronounced in vertones. Ageism appears most often in the sphere of employment, where people are rejected for the reason of alleged decreasing performance and frequent sickness, according to prejudices connected with their more advanced age. The practical part of my thesis aims at a comparison of people over 50 and those who are still under this imaginary limit. By collecting primary data the following hypothesis was tested among others: it is more difficult for people over 50 to find work than for younger age categories. Respondents were chosen among job applicants of the Job Centre in Tábor. On the basis of a questionnaire and a secondary analysis of the data it was proved that 50+ applicants at the Job Centre in Tábor had to face age discrimination at an interview more often and also have more frequent experience with being dismissed due to their advanced age, which confirms the determined hypothesis. It is interesting that as people grow old they tend to think that after being 50 their work performance will decrease. Moreover, the research implies in general that people over 50 are a worse employable group than those of lower age categories. A feasible solution of this situation might be adjusting of stricter recourses for this kind of discrimination. In the Czech Republic this problem has been treated directly only under the rule of employment law which bans this kind of discrimination. A possible contribution might be an anti-discrimination law now being prepared. Promoting the effort to change social awareness concerning the qualities and abilities of older generation is also essential. Media should present a more positive image of elderly people; after all decreasing strength is compensated by great life experience, therefore this combination may not influence their general ability and performance.
