The function, importance and experience of the music sections of the Czechoslovak Legion in Russia on the example of regimental music of the 1st Cz. Rifle Regiment "Jan Hus"

(in English): This thesis deals with the topic of the music bands of the Czechoslovak Legionnaires in Russia between 1914 and 1920. Emphasis is placed on the music band of the "Jan Hus" 1st Czechoslovak Rifle Regiment, which in the present research serves as a representative of the other forms of regimental musics. The text focuses on describing the basic facts of how musical ensembles of this kind worked, but it also describes their importance for the army, the experience of the legionary musicians themselves, and the way in which the legionary bands dealt with the impact of two cultural influences - the Austro-Hungarian one, which was close to most legionaries from their pre-war life, and the Russian one, which the musicians were exposed to during their time abroad.
Transformation of the institution of publisher during the years 1948-1968 on the example of Naše vojsko

This bachelor's thesis deals with the publishing house Naše vojsko, which was founded in 1945 by the Ministry of National Defense. The aim of the thesis was to analyze its position between the years 1948-1968 and to answer the research question how it met readers demand. Periodical publishing newsletters and articles from military periodicals were used for this. The sources revealed that, although Naše vojsko was founded for the purposes of the army, in addition to professional literature, it also published fiction from the beginning and actively communicated with civilian readers through the readers' column in the publisher's newsletter called Naše vojsko o nových knihách, later renamed Za novou četbou. In 1960s, it founded military book clubs, whose members could influence the work of the editors, thus creating a connection with reader demand.
The Angel of the Lord Went Out and Slew 185,000 - Theology 2 Kings 18-20

Te biblical verses of 2 Kings 18-19 mention the military campaign of King Sennacherib of Assyria against Judah in the late 8th century BC. After conquering the fortifed cities of Judah, Sennacherib sent an ar- my with envoys from Lachish to Jerusalem, the seat of King Hezekiah. Te Judean king cries out to the Lord to spare the city. God hears Hez- ekiah's prayer and sends an angel who slaughters 185,000 men in the Assyrian camp, and Sennacherib returns to the capital of his empire, Nineveh, where he dies. Te aim of this paper is to compare the texts of the Book of Kings with other biblical and extra-biblical sources and to separate the historical and theological accounts of the verses on the basis of their comparison. Roman forts in Egypt

This paper deals with roman fortifications in Egypt. The main emphasis is laid on roman fortresses on forts. Their descriptions are included in the first part of the paper. Another fortification's elements, history of roman province and mentions of forts in ancient writings, which put the forts in geographical and historical context, are described more shortly. The paper includes a brief part about roman navy too. In the second part of the paper the author tries to point out the functions of forts, development of fortification system, the architectural similarities between forts in Egypt and to find architectural parallels in other parts of Roman Empire.
Roman forts and fortresses in the Nile valley

This paper deals with roman fortifications in the Nile valley from the mouth of Delta to site of Qasr Ibrim located between first and second cataract. Period described in this paper can be limit by two dates. Beginning lay in the year 30BC, when Egypt became a roman province. The end of this period is year AD 641, when the city of Alexandria capitulated to Arab conquerors. The paper focuses on the architecture of forts and archaeological excavations.
Zdeněk Lahoda's novels within the context of Czech mystery fiction of the 1960s to 1990s

The goal of this work was to develop a biographical characteristics of the writers and translators Zdeněk Lahoda, characterize his works of fiction with regard to his efforts to the translation and its integration into the development detective fiction genre in the context of criminal czech literature since the 60 to 90 of the 20 century. The work seeks to define a genre thriller. This paper summarizes the work of Zdeněk Lahoda soothe and compares his own work, and his translation work. Greater efforts to Zdeněk Lahoda dedicated his translation activities, often translated socrealistic ideological literature, detective stories, adventure tales and stories. His own work has not fit into the context of 90th Years, and therefore do not issue his work again.
The survival strategies used by children and teenagers imprisoned in the Terezin ghetto between 1942-45 based on their diaries

The diploma thesis The survival strategy used by children and youth imprisoned in the Terezin ghetto between 1942 - 1945 based on their diaries is a study, which analyze some extant diaries written by children deported during Word War II to the Terezin ghetto. As the main sources served archive materials, especially unpublished children's diaries kept in the Jewish Museum of Prague and in the Terezin Memorial. Terezin ghetto (Theresienstadt) was exist between November 1941 and May 1945. Part of this work is concise representation of the ghetto's beginning and function and overall conditions. In the following chapter is briefly described children's homes, which were established thanks to Jugendfürsorge, department which cared about youth in the ghetto. This part deals with the moral influence on children given by the specific conditions and it was presented supporting function of the arts performed by adult prisoners and children too. The main part of this work consists in a researching of the diary entries sorted in predermined aspects. One of them is the space-time aspect. It was selected some entries which described the past, the present and the future. Other entries included reflecting of space out of the ghetto and space in. It was made many hypothesis which contributed to the next analyses....
Russian and Czech phraseological units containing words with the theme of space and celestial bodies

This thesis entitled "Czech and Russian phrasemes containing components of the universe and celestial bodies" has for its object to gather and explore as large as possible number of phraseologisms containing the components on the theme of space and celestial bodies. It consists of several parts. In the theoretical part we engaged in phraseology as science, in some attitudes to it, in definition of phrasemes and different classifications that were created by Czech and Russian philologists. In the second part we analyzed the grammatical structure of Czech and Russian phrasemes and classified them according to their structures. In the third one we dealt with stylistic characteristics of Czech and Russian phrasemes, divided them according to stylistic characteristics of the whole phrasemes having regard for stylistic characteristics of particular component. The last part of our work is dedicated to the comparison of Czech and Russian equal phrasemes that we divided on the basis of relationship of these equivalents and their components. We explained particular phrasemes and their origin. In case the origin was not evident we had tried to explain it too. Most of those Russian phrasemes we explored has its equivalent in Czech vice versa. However, some of them have to be translated periphrasticly. 80

5 Abstract: Dissertation work is concerned with a political activism phenomenon, retardation and programme collaboration of army elite in Bohemia and Moravia Protectorate study. The aim of the work is to explore and chart the public and political life in Bohemia and Moravia Protectorate with a special attention to high Czech commissioned officer activity not only to summarize the acquired information but also to put them into the context with a development of Protectorate autonomous and occupation politics. The Thesis is not only focuses on the activity on the main organisations and their leading personalities but devotes its attention to opinions and points of view of centers of protectorate autonomous and occupation administration towards them, which had an influence on the organisation activity and their leaders. It situates them into the protectorate politics on the background of the events. The Thesis theme concentrates basically on the activity of the main Protektorate organisations and of the former soldiers such as Czech Union of Warriors and Central Union Former Soldiers in Bohemia and Moravia and their leaders - the general Otto Bláha, Robert Rychtrmoc and Bohuslav Kálala. Transformation of army press after 1989, demonstrated on the newspapers "Obrana lidu" and other papers published by "Naše vojsko"

Thesis "Transformation of military periodicals since 1989 (for example Obrany lidu and other titles of Naše Vojsko)" discusses the armed services press after 1945, and captures his transformation, inter alia, to reflect changes in the overall social situation during the next decade. The method of work is a historical analysis. This thesis is primarily focused and deals with the establishment of periodicals and the way of state institutions controlling, especially the Ministry of National Defence and the Chief political administration. The aim is to create an overview of army press and, by selected periodicals, to monitor changes occurring during their existence. Attention is also devoted to economic production company - Naše Vojsko (Magnet-Press). This thesis also reflects the transformation of army press which came after the events of November 1989 and which brought a massive reduction in army press. The text is given more attention to newspapers and magazines, the development of more reflective of social change in our country such as in Obrana lidu, Lidová armáda or Československý voják, more narrowly focused than the professional military journals.
