Safety and crisis management in the town of Český Krumlov
BŘEZINA, Čestmír
In the past decades, not only natural disasters, but also other extreme events have threatened the mankind and people have to be ready to solve these events. Extreme events can be caused by the unpredictable weather such as floods and freshets, epidemics, bulk infections of animals, fires, explosions, toxic substance release into the air, collective accidents in the traffic, interruption of supply of electric power, water, gas, heating, collapse of telecommunication and information net, radiation emergency, terrorist attacks etc. It is not possible to underestimate extreme events and it is necessary to thoroughly prepare on the possibility of their occurence and on precautions in connection with their removal, eventually with the elimination of their consequences. Regarding to the fact, that the inhabitans of the town of Český Krumlov are endangered by potential extreme events all the time, in the past decades these have been mainly floods and other natural disasters, that is why the organs of crisis task force and the bodies of IRS (Integrated Rescue Service) have to be maximally prepared to solve such events. Nevertheless the primary aim is the protection of people {--} the protection of their lives, health, properties, but also the protection of infrastructure and environment is important. That all is also related with maximal readiness and awareness of the population of potential risks of occurence of extreme events. Only in this case, the people would be able to behave correctly in the given situations and therefore intensify their security. On the base of results of the quantitative research and the subject analysis, it has been found out, that inhabitans of the town of Český Krumlov are not prepared on eventual occurence of extreme events at all and they are not offered any possibilities how to get the necessary information. That is why I have suggested arrangements how to eliminate these problems, in general how to improve the communication and the standart of providing services to the inhabitants concerning the field of eventual occurence of extreme events. These arrangements can serve for bodies of crisis task force managment so that they could be inspired in how to intesify the quality of security and how to better the crisis mamagement of the town of Český Krumlov.

Application of (geo)demographic methods in education
Šebestík, Libor ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
Application of (geo)demographic methods in education Abstract This master's thesis presents the possibilities of application of demographic, geodemographic and statistical methods on data published by the educational sector. The methods of demographic analysis are represented by the usage of rates, the concept of multistate demography (Markov chains) and the application of life tables. The enrollment ratio at particular levels of education, the average length of schooling and the number of dropouts from school grades are evaluated by these procedures. Markov chains which are based on the probabilities of transition between grades are also examined in terms of their use for forecasting purposes. These methods analyze the situation at the preschool, primary and secondary levels and are used on data from the annual Statistical Yearbooks on Education. In the field of geodemography, the so called preferential model of migration flows is presented. This model examines how applicants for tertiary education prefer or reject the regions of the Czech Republic for their tertiary education studies. The last method is the binary logistic regression which analyzes the inequalities in access to tertiary education. Both preferential model and logistic regression are based on data files on the admission process at...

The role of nurse in recognition of the early stages of dementia
VELÁTOVÁ, Jana
The aim of this work was to find out whether the nurses working in the rooms of G.P. for adults can recognize signals of early stages of clients´ dementia, whether the nurses purposefully aim their effort to recognise the signals and whether the elderly people themselves are interested in such interventions. The group to be investigated was made up of a group of nurses from the G.P. rooms in the Tabor District and a group of elderly people at the age of 65 and over from the Tabor District as well. The investigation was made through quantitative research, questions; structured questions were used for the collection of data. The reason to do this work was to draw the attention to the nurses having broad possibilities to recognize the early stages of this disorder and to influence the fate of a lot of patients. The findings did not confirm the hypothesis that the nurses working in the G.P. rooms do not have possibilities to fully use their competence or to use their new knowledge of nursing to recognize symptoms of dementia of the elderly people and to broaden awareness of healthy aging. The research confirmed the second hypothesis that the nurses in the G.P. rooms do not purposefully aim their efforts to identify the early stages of dementia. The third hypothesis was confirmed; the elderly people showed their interest in the nurse{\crq}s intervention to identify the symptoms of dementia, thus confirming their reliance in nurses{\crq} expertise. All three objectives were fulfilled. At the close of the study it was pointed out that the existing approach of the nurses in the G.P. rooms to this disorder should change, the nurses should partake in using standardised less time consuming methods to test the elderly people with a higher risk of dementia, and to broaden awareness of healthy aging and all possible ways to prevent the syndrome of dementia.

Nursing care as provided to ante finem patients
JANSOVÁ, Markéta
The subject of death and dying is still considered a taboo in our society. It is awkward and anachronistic since our times require people full of life and vigor. The terminally ill are often snubbed by the society. Though being well aware of the unfavorable prognosis, many a doctor tries to treat the patients to the very last moment, and he or she perceives the death as a personal defeat. In 1967 Cicely Saunders, an English doctor familiar with the dismal conditions of dying in the then society, founded in London the St. Christopher's Hospice, the first modern facility of this kind. The philosophy of this effort has been perpetuated in the Hospice of the Agnes of Bohemia established in 1995 as the first hospice in the Czech Republic. The Bachelor Paper aimed to assess the possibilities of providing the ante finem care by health-care personnel at a hospital and a hospice. The Paper investigated these hypotheses: H1 - Health-care workers provide the ante finem patients with health care in conformity to the standards applicable to both types of the facilities; H2 - Approach of the personnel to the care is dependent on their emotional stability; H3 - Health-care personnel in hospitals are not aware that the art of accompanying is a part of the nursing process. The surveyed sample was compiled of nurses on the staff of the Internal Medicine Ward and the Post-Treatment Ward of hospitals in České Budějovice, Jihlava and Třebíč and the hospices in Prachatice, Červený Kostelec and Brno. The data were gathered through a questionnaire. Altogether 170 questionnaires were distributed and 136 out of them were processed in the final assessment. As follows from the assessment results, the care provided to the terminally ill patients in hospitals is affected primarily by time pressures and by the fact that the nursing staff are not fully aware of the possibilities that palliative care offers, while in hospices the conditions available for the palliative care have a quality basis. Results of the Paper will be given to one of the hospitals and two hospices specified above, where they can inspire some new ideas about possible improvement in providing the palliative care.

Effect of early education of parents on faulty posture in children (preschool, school age)
BENADOVÁ, Martina
The thesis deals with timely instructing of parents in the field of defective bearing of children (of pre-school and school age). The thesis consists of theoretical and practical sections. The theoretical section describes the parents´ instruction, defective bearing and its types, therapy and prophylaxis. Considering the change of lifestyle the number of children with defective holding is increasing. It is important to lead the parents and children to prevent this disease and it is most desirable to start with it as early as possible. The other section of the thesis deals with research. The research was conducted in the form of questionnaires that were the means of finding the level of parents´ knowledge of their children´s condition, and their involvement in the therapy. This is also the objective of the thesis. The achieved results were figured in the form of graphs. The thesis also compares the differences in the replies to the questionnaire inquiries both in therapy centres and in the GP paediatricians´ surgeries. The results show very high level of parents´ knowledge of the problems of defective bearing. The research also proved that the large majority of parents are involved in their child´s therapy and that they practice the exercises with them at home.

Cooperation of schools and external partners on the development of environmental awareness among students
Frýblová, Jitka ; Veselý, Arnošt (advisor) ; Hiekischová, Michaela (referee)
This master thesis is concerned with current issues of educational politics, namely the integration of environmental aspects into the curriculums of grammar schools and high schools. Environmental education, and awareness raising has appeared in schools following the introduction of the framework education programme as one of its cross-curricular subjects, reflecting new social needs. While there lies a great potential for the development of our education system within cross-curricular subjects and framework education programmes, these also introduce new requirements for teachers, who are not always quite prepared for dealing with them. The introduction of external partners into education is one possible way of dealing with those requirements, as these external partners have many years of experience with ecology oriented education programmes and their methodical specifics. The presented master thesis familiarizes the reader with the individual forms of cooperation among schools and external partners and tries to generalize its pros and cons and outline the possibility of engaging external educational partners in teaching subjects other than environmental education. The paper deals with a multidisciplinary topic in which the findings of public policy, pedagogy, ethics and ecology intertwine. The...

The use of social and health services for people with multiple sclerosis
KAŠPAROVÁ, Eva
Multiple sclerosis cerebrospinal is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system which leads to demyelination of nerve fibres or to their direct loss. Multiple sclerosis is the most common neurological cause of chronic disability in young adults. There is no known effective cure for this disease. It is only possible to reduce the progression rate of the disease by recently available medication and their combinations. Social and health services bring significant benefit to life of people with multiple sclerosis. Health services are important not only for medical treatment but also for support because they try to improve or preserve physical condition and affect also mental condition. Social services become more important as the disease progresses when people are no longer able to cope with routine everyday activities. The objective of my thesis was to suggest suitable health and social services for people with multiple sclerosis. Furthermore, to find out which of these services are used by ill people. The hypothesis of the thesis was: Some types of social services for people with multiple sclerosis are not quantitatively provided unlike health services. In my thesis I used quantitative research, interviewing and the questionnaire method. Questionnaires were filled in by adults with multiple sclerosis in selected organisations {\clqq}Roska`` in the Czech republic. During the research I discovered problems with insufficient awareness of social services and not using contributions and allowances for social services. On the contrary, the results of the research imply that health services are being used. I assume that the hypothesis was confirmed. I find the contribution of the thesis in the fact that I suggested recommendations for suitable health and social services for people with multiple sclerosis. After completion of local contacts, this suggestion could be used as an informative brochure which would be available to people with multiple sclerosis.
