Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda sestry, pracující v ordinacích praktických lékařů pro dospělé, mají možnosti vyhledávat signály časných stádií demence u svých klientů, zda se sestry ve své praxi cíleně zaměřují na jejich odhalení, ale také zda o tyto intervence mají zájem sami senioři.. Výzkumný soubor byl tvořen skupinou sester z ordinací praktických lékařů v okrese Tábor a skupinou seniorů ve věku nad 65 let také z okresu Tábor. Výzkumná část práce byla zpracována formou kvantitativního výzkumu, metodou dotazování, jako technika sběru dat byl použit strukturovaný rozhovor. Důvodem zájmu o problematiku byla snaha upozornit na široké možnosti sester zaznamenat včas signály onemocnění a ovlivnit tím osud mnoha pacientů. Výsledek nepotvrdil hypotézu, že sestry pracující v ordinacích praktických lékařů nemají možnosti využít naplno své kompetence nebo zavádět nové poznatky z ošetřovatelství sloužící k odhalování příznaků demence u seniorů a k posílení laické osvěty o zdravém stárnutí. Výzkumem bylo potvrzena druhá hypotéza, že se sestry v ordinacích praktických lékařů cíleně nezaměřují na odhalování časných stádií demence. Třetí hypotéza potvrzena byla, senioři projevili o intervence sester k odhalování příznaků demence zájem a potvrdili důvěru v odborné znalosti sester. Domnívám se, že všechny tři stanovené cíle byly splněny. V závěru studie bylo poukázáno na potřebnou změnu v dosavadním přístupu sester v ordinacích praktických lékařů k tomuto onemocnění, na nutnost zapojit sestry do provádění standardizovaných méně časově náročných testů u seniorů se zvýšeným rizikem výskytu demence a posilovat laickou osvětu o zdravém stárnutí a možných formách prevence syndromu demence. The aim of this work was to find out whether the nurses working in the rooms of G.P. for adults can recognize signals of early stages of clients´ dementia, whether the nurses purposefully aim their effort to recognise the signals and whether the elderly people themselves are interested in such interventions. The group to be investigated was made up of a group of nurses from the G.P. rooms in the Tabor District and a group of elderly people at the age of 65 and over from the Tabor District as well. The investigation was made through quantitative research, questions; structured questions were used for the collection of data. The reason to do this work was to draw the attention to the nurses having broad possibilities to recognize the early stages of this disorder and to influence the fate of a lot of patients. The findings did not confirm the hypothesis that the nurses working in the G.P. rooms do not have possibilities to fully use their competence or to use their new knowledge of nursing to recognize symptoms of dementia of the elderly people and to broaden awareness of healthy aging. The research confirmed the second hypothesis that the nurses in the G.P. rooms do not purposefully aim their efforts to identify the early stages of dementia. The third hypothesis was confirmed; the elderly people showed their interest in the nurse{\crq}s intervention to identify the symptoms of dementia, thus confirming their reliance in nurses{\crq} expertise. All three objectives were fulfilled. At the close of the study it was pointed out that the existing approach of the nurses in the G.P. rooms to this disorder should change, the nurses should partake in using standardised less time consuming methods to test the elderly people with a higher risk of dementia, and to broaden awareness of healthy aging and all possible ways to prevent the syndrome of dementia.
