Legal Aspects of the Script Development

The aim of the thesis is to analyse legal situations, which may arise during the creation of a script.
The first part is concerned with the particular possibilities of buying out licences to finished scripts, as well as to partly completed scripts and custom-made scripts. The viewpoint of the thesis is predominantly of a producer, however, the last chapter also includes the examination of the protection of rights of a scriptwriter.
The focus of the second part is on further authors who can participate on the script development and with whom it is therefore necessary to conclude a licence contract. This part of the thesis is also concerned with the specifics of the film adaptation and the author?s translation.
The third chapter describes the problematic position of the topic in the Czech law. It includes some of the possibilities of its protection as well as the protection of the conception of a television programme or a serial story.
The final part refers to the possible consequences of the insufficient legal settlement of the copyright. It also elaborates the potential conscious and unconscious interventions of the script into the right of privacy and its legal consequences.

Recent developments of the Czech lexicon, notably in economic terminology

Economics is ranked among the most popular sciences of Today. It is not only the experts who consider economics; non-professional economists do it as well. Economy influences our daily lives and we have a major piece on its development and on the language that describe it. This situation causes the occurrence of some anomalies among economic terms, tendency to use unusual linguistic means on purpose to catch reader's attention or because of natural motivation of well-known matters lying beyond the economic field. This diploma thesis tries to highlight some of those phenomenons. The research takes its stand on the technical economic studies data from the electronic database of Czech National Corpus (Český národní korpus), which allows to determine their frequency as well. The attention is paid mainly to the most typical model in Czech terminology: adjective - noun, noun - adjective, where in addition to semantic, functional classification and frequency, the metaphoric and metonymic motivation or their pragmatic sides are delimitated. There is an effort to classify the metaphoric and metonymic collocations that occurred in the random text sample into semantic categories. Cultural diversity and Taoism

The presented study focuses on themes related to the problem of cultural diversity and plurality. The fact that every culture that developed over the course of history lives in the horizon of a completely specific world (a horizon and a context of appearance) implies the question of whether different cultures can mutually understand each other (which is related to the opportunities for mutual translatability of each other's languages and the structures) as well as questions related to the universality of a certain understanding of reality and it's dominant position as a worldview, which is spontaneously demanded by the scientific/technical paradigm of the Euro-Atlantic civilizational range. Today, this problem is reflected from various different positions. From the perspective of ecological crisis, we find it in conceptions of lasting maintainability; from perspective of philosophical reflection, we find it in the project of intercultural philosophy. For a concrete "demonstration" of cultural diversity and plurality, we opted to use the philosophical/religious system of Taoism because we thought that it was "different" enough to be a representative perspective for this study.

The Suffering of God in Pentateuch

THE SUFFERING OF GOD IN PENTATEUCH The work treats the matter of the suffering of God in Pentateuch. Part One deals with the suffering in the Old Testament generaly while special attention is being paid to the relationship between God and suffering. Part Two discusses anthropomorphic metaphors used to express God's emotions, especialy those related to suffering. Part Three studies the points of relation between the ways in which the Old and the New Testaments, respectively, view the suffering of God.

Analysis of the development of the selected villages in relation to the Czech Republic´s entry to EU

This translated thesis is focused on use of tools for local level development.Main goal of thesis is to point out the ability of local self-government and how to strive to realization of goals and sustainable development with help of european and regional politics.This thesis analyses the influences of european politics on villages with population of less than 1000 inhabitants.Problematics delve into the are of specifications of villages,funcions of self-governments in small villages and points out individual factors of influencing the development. Analysis of development of chosen village in correlation with admission of Czech Republic to EU is based on detailed characteristic of area of interest. For better clarity more significant areas were chosen which we can safely judge with the development in certain time period how and if the area became to worse,started to stagnate or became generaly better and what was its cause.In relation of admission if Czech Republic to EU the results will be evaluated if this act had any significant benefit on this specific ocasion.

Metaphor in Czech sign language

Problem of metaphors in Czech Sign Language is handled from a cognitive linguistic approach to language point of view, especially in term of the conceptual metaphor theory, which was formulated by Lakoff and Johnson. The explanation of specifics of the iconic and metaphoric mapping in signed languages is based on recent theoretical works dealing with American Sign Language. Principles of metaphors behavior in signed languages are illustrated on many metaphoric linguistic expressions from Czech Sign Language, which realize eight conventionally conceptual metaphors - (1) orientational metaphors: MORE IS UP, GOOD IS UP, POWERFUL IS UP, THE FUTURE IS AHEAD, THE PAST IS BEHIND, (2) ontological metaphors: MIND IS A CONTAINER, IDEA S ARE OBJECTS and (3) structural metaphor: COMMUNICATION IS SENDING.

Czech and Russian phraseology asymmetry. Problems of scientific translation

The topic of the work is the assymetry of means of expression in the czech and russian languages (the problem of scientific translation). Descriptions and comparisons of the asymetric methods of translation of the verb elemetns are made, based on humane focused texts. These elements don't reflect the plot using specific verb forms like infinitive, nominal construction, verbal adverb (transgressive), participium. Non-finitive verb forms are described in the morphological/syntactic language plane. The methods of translation on the lexical level of the language are considred as translation extension, translation reduction and substitution of terms. A portion of the work consists of the attached translations of the non-finitive verb forms (in czech and russian languages) which occured during the processions of the texts.

The problems of condensation when translating from Russian into Czech

A graduation thesis discourses upon the definition of Condensation in Czech and Russian languages and means with the help of which this process may be accomplished. Condensation means that one communicational purpose is reached up by transformation of sentence, although formed elliptic expression loses dynamism that have had authentic sentence. Condensation contently quadrate with a sentence, but from the formal aspect we can hardly consider it to be a sentence, because it has no predicated verb. The aim of Condensation is to emplace more information into one sentence. Next chapter represents the chosen means of Condensation, exactly participles, because they seem to be the most interesting in the light of the topic of the graduation thesis. For better understanding of the material we show examples from Russian literature, strictly speaking from Mikhail Bulgakov and Viktor Shklovski, and its translations into Czech language. We look up the cases of Condensation in both of the texts, compare and find differences between them.

The writings of Bernard-Marie Koltès: problems of the translation from the original French to Czech and consequences in the Czech cultural environment

The aim of this thesis has been to create a comparative critical analysis of the originals and the Czech translations of mature writings of Bernard-Marie Kolts, as well as to assess the reception of his work in the Czech culture. The first part of the paper shortly introduces the author's life and the main features of his work. It is followed by the key chapter of the thesis, the critical analysis of the Czech translations. The purpose of this part is to find out whether these texts can be classified "adequate translations", a normative model that we take from the Czech theories of translation (Jiří Levý, Karel Hausenblas and others). We are looking closely at four out of eight Kolts' plays considered as "mature" (Dans la solitude des champs de coton, Quai ouest, Roberto Zucco and Le Combat de ngre et de chiens). This sample has been chosen on the grounds of the following criterions: it reperesents the work of all the five translators that have translated the Kolts' writings to Czech and at the same time it involves all the distinct literary proceedings of the author. Lexical specifics of the French legal language in the area of criminal law and their translation into the Czech language

Lexical specifics of the French legal language in the area of criminal law and their translation into the Czech language are the subject of this bachelor thesis. The thesis is composed of two main parts, the theoretical and the practical one. The theoretical part provides some basic information about legal language. This part describes the difference between Czech and French legal languages. Methods and procedures of translation are mentioned here as well. The practical part focuses on the analysis of selected French legal terms and deals with the problem of their translation into the Czech language, it means into the language of a different legal system. With the support of specialized sources translation solutions of selected terms are proposed here. The bachelor thesis is concluded with French-Czech glossary.
