"1989-2009: Society. History. Politics". Collection of conference papers
Gjuričová, Adéla
The conference saw presentations by researchers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, France, Britain and the USA. The selected texts do not build on a reconstruction of 1989 events or the concept of „coming to terms with the communist past“, instead they focus on interesting (dis)continuities of the twenty years after 1989 with the 1970s and 1980s.

Examination of a witness in civil proceedings
Vobořilová, Tereza ; Smolík, Petr (advisor) ; Zoulík, František (referee)
62 The Examination of a Witness in Civil Proceeding RESUMÉ The theme of my paper is an examination of a witness in civil proceedings. This institute is quite common in trial by court, during the process of evidence. During the process of evidence past events are being reconstructed and means of evidence, which number isn't definite, are used. One of the means of evidence, quite a frequent one, is the mentioned examination of a witness. I chose this theme because of the branch of law which it refers to and also because this institute appears to be multispecial, as it is applied not only in civil law, but also in other fields such as psychology or sociology. Study of this issue therefore enabled me to look into these branches and so in my paper I tried to partly cover other fields as well. At the beginning of my paper I deal with development of this means of evidence, as its' usage was common long time ago. This institute was highly regarded in the old Roman law because of its' verbality. Subsequently, the written form predominated and therefore the testimony of a witness was not of such significance as documents. Over time when verbal testimony was more often used, it was again brought to the fore and by gradual historical development it gained its' current form. The witness person itself is the focal issue...

The impact of nex luxury cars on road traffic fatalities and serious injuries in the Czech Republic
Zapletal, Jan ; Houdek, Petr (advisor) ; Rod, Aleš (referee)
This paper analyzes the negative effect of new luxury cars on road traffic fatalities and serious injuries in the Czech Republic. The analysis has been done using linear regression method on time series dataset for years 1991-2010. The results may show (with low significance) that 1 % increase in share of luxury cars on total number of registered vehicles results in 0.39% decrease of road traffic deaths accidents and 0.03% decrease in number of seriously injured persons. Results, which are contradictory to other previous studies, were probably caused by the broader definition of luxury cars, including new classes which weren't included in earlier papers. The results may show as well that new luxury cars don't increase significantly the risk of death for car passengers in other vehicles, what may have been due to prevailing share of low risk luxury cars in traffic than the higher risk ones. Very surprising finding is that with increasing alcohol consumption there would be less people seriously injured. The increase in alcohol consumption by 1 % would decrease the number of seriously injured people by 2.36 %. It is probably caused by the responsibility of the people who in threat of the punishment didn't drive a car after they have consumed alcohol. The impact of demerit point system may show, that its introduction decrease accidents fatality rates by 2.31 %.

Specifics of social work with clients with drug addiction
HANZALOVÁ, Vendula
The number of people in the population who use addictive substances and develop adverse life situations is still growing. This issue is also connected with social, health and legal problems with which the drug user must deal. In this case, those addicted can look for help to institutions such as a contact centre. The theoretical part is focused on three topics. The first describes the terms of drug addiction, its origin, consequences and forms of support. The work deals with theories that are significant to the work. The last topic concerns the specifics of social work in a contact centre. There are selected core activities and techniques specific to this institution. I set the aim for this paper, which was to answer the question of which theoretical approach is best applied by social workers working with drug addicts. Furthermore I was finding out which are the best examples of good practical training. The results after evaluation showed that social workers cannot tell whether they work according to particular theories. Usually there is eclecticism, which means that they collect different experiences and then apply them to the work. The basis for these is a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual model that takes into account the integral concept of personality and the philosophy of Harm Reduction which is the main point of contact work. The research brought the views of social workers, their recommendations, and techniques that are proven by them, and also describe the pitfalls of their work. In my opinion, this work could serve as a good summary of techniques for new workers who would like to work with drug addicts. My results can also be the basis for further studies and research in this area.

Zeya, Pyin Nyar ; JANEČEK, Vít (advisor) ; VOJTĚCHOVSKÝ, Miloš (referee)
No one can control a painter artist’s freely thoughts and ideas and although his paintings were under the high pressure and banned by force, the artistic value of his materials never go down. So that I am writing this paper. He, San Minn has broken out the mainstream of Burmese painting field, he never made business paintings as well. He keeps his belief on the art of paints and he is always finding for the new way to make his paintings. His materials are very different from other Burmese painter artists’ materials. His style is unique in Burmese paintings. So I can get a chance to study of his style, ideas, ways of thinking and his determination on the art works. My paper can show a painter artist’s life who grew up under the military rule for 50 years and the situation and history of Burmese painting field. Then not only people who are studying the painting subject, but also other people can know about the subject of Burmese painting and field of artists. I dare say that my paper must be colorful and fruitful. As a painter artist, it seems that he wants his audience to feel his materials but he rare to show his real life behind the pictures. For me, I can get a chance to know about his real life for my thesis paper. xxxxxxxxxx Thesis Statement My thesis can be useful for everybody who is interested in Burmese contemporary art field. This is the biggest chance to read about one of the most famous, important and significant artists and art movements of Burma. His paintings are reflecting his journey through over 40 years of censorship, but he was not afraid to tackle political and social issues. Many of San Minn's art works are based on autobiographical, making sharp social commentary on the popular culture, social values and scenario circumstances where he has lived in. xxxxxxxxxx

Efficiency of regulation models in financial markets in environment of monetary policy changes.
Stehlík, Jan ; Štekláč, Jiří (advisor) ; Titze, Miroslav (referee)
This paper examines models of supervision and regulation over the financial market and their impact on volatility of interest rates according to monetary policy changes. Its goal is to judge if some of these models aren't less effective and cause higher volatility and if the assumption of market stability is provided. It looks into monetary policy changes and their impact on financial market, interest rates and their development in time of these changes. It analyzes correlation of monetary policy and financial market and gives characteristics of each of regulation models. Using the method of graphical analysis, this paper compares reactions of short- and longterm interest rates (Treasury bills and 10years government yields) in relevant countries during monetary change applications. It examines also official offered rate and real interbank rate and its' spreads. As indicator of financial market stress is used Libor-OIS spread. It evaluates the influence of models used in different countries in each given situation.

Markovská lokalizace pro mobilní roboty: simulace a experiment
Krejsa, Jiří ; Věchet, S.
Summary: Localization of the robot is a task of estimating robot position in known environment from sensor observation. The paper describes basic principles of Markov localization technique, succesfully used for localization task. Method is robust against sensor errors and can deal with global uncertainty when robot position is completely unknown. Both simulation and experimental verification of method usability are included.

Plánování cesty pro čtyřnohého kráčejícího robota použitím rychlých náhodných stromů
Krejsa, Jiří ; Věchet, S.
Summary: There are several randomized methods for problem of path planning. Rapidly exploring random trees (RRT) is a method which can deal with constraints typical for legged walking robots, e.g. limitations in rotation step resolution. Paper describes the RRT method itself and its use for path planning of four-legged walking robot, including special failure case when robot is capable of only rotating in one direction. The method proved to be robust and fast.
