Written expression of pupils with hearing impairment educated in schools for the hearing impaired

This master's thesis is devoted to the topic of written expressions of students with hearing impairment educated at schools for the hearing impaired. This master's thesis consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part is devoted to the knowledge we have available about this topic both in domestic and foreign literature. Specifically, it deals with topics such as the language and communication of people with hearing impairments, the teaching of pupils with hearing impairments with a focus on language teaching, especially the Czech language and the literacy of people with hearing impairments. The practical part of the thesis is devoted to a research investigation, the aim of which was to describe the differences between the texts of hearing impaired pupils educated in schools for the hearing impaired and the texts of intact pupils educated in mainstream schools. As part of the research investigation, the texts of pupils with hearing impairment and the texts of intact pupils were obtained, while both groups were given identical assignments. These texts were further analyzed and compared in terms of their scope, structure and content and subsequently errors were found in them, which were further categorized and described. Education of hearing impaired elementary school students during the world pandemic of COVID-19

Master's thesis "Education of hearing impaired elementary school students during the world pandemic of covid-19" is analyzing changes in the czech educational system during the said pandemic. The theoretical part of master's thesis describes the educational system of hearing impaired students, the historical context behind it, the legislative basis and modern trends in this specific educational branch. Furthermore there are explained communication systems used by the hearing impaired. In the last chapter of the first part there is description of the covid-19, its course and spreading and the extraordinary measures in educational systém taken by the government. The practical part is based on informants' statements in semi-structured interview. These informants were recruited amongst teachers, parents and students, who were actively involved in educational process during the pandemic of covid-19. The aim of this thesis is analyzing the impact of taken measures from diferent perspectives of teachers, parents and hearing impaired students. The research reveals how the unprecedented situation was by showing how unprepaired all focus groups were. Lexicon evaluation of school-age children with hearing impairment

This thesis deals with observing differences in vocabulary in sign language with hearing impaired kids at school age who visit elementary school for hearing impaired. This work is divided between two parts, theoretical and practical. This part is divided into three chapters. First chapter deals with the importance of hearing and classification of the hearing impairment and diagnostics. In this thesis is also included speech development of hearing impaired children and hearing children. Next part also contains of specific features occurring in speech of the hearing impaired people. It includes a list of tests which can be used to evaluate vocabulary with children. The last chapter of the theoretical part describes the development of the child during school age. The theoretical part deals with vocabulary in sign language of children with hearing impairment at primary school for the hearing impaired. The research is processed in qualitative form and the main goal of the thesis is to see what differences can be observed in vocabulary of children with hearing impairment and verify whether the selected test material is suitable for working with these children. Speech therapy in Czech elementary schools for children (age 6 - 12) with hearing handicaps

The bachelor thesis focuses on the approaches to speech therapy practice at selected elementary schools (age 6-12) for children with hearing handicaps. Particular attention is given to the organisation scheme, the position of speech therapy in the school's educational concept and to the relation of speech therapy to various educational subjects. The introduction describes the relation of speech therapy to the upbringing and education of pupils with hearing handicaps. The second part gives details on the research at selected elementary schools for children with hearing handicaps and provides basic characteristics of these schools. The third part contains a summary of curricular documents which have affected the education of pupils with hearing handicaps during the past sixty years and which impacted, among other things, the practice and goals of speech therapy among these pupils. This part is closely related to the fourth part which focuses on the description of differences in the position of speech therapy in individual educational subjects in the past and the present. The final part compares the former and the current organisation of individual and collective speech therapy at schools for children with hearing handicaps. The sign language current education at elementary schools for hearing impared

This bachelor thesis deals with the current situation of Czech sign language (CSL) acquisition at elementary schools for hearing impaired children. At first, the process of teaching CSL is explained, including sign language in the context of teaching curricula, existing didactic materials, testing children's knowledge in CSL, assessment in CSL and required personality traits and education of CSL teachers. This part is followed by description and explanation of ongoing problems and frequent questions connected with teaching CSL at schools for hearing impaired children. The results that can be found in my work are based on relevant specialized literature and visits two schools for hearing impaired in Vala ské Mezi í í and Praha Radlice where I had an oportunity to observe Czech sign language classes. Consequently, I discussed the situation with the Czech sign language teachers. A concrete result of this work is a conclusion that the most serious problem of CSL education is the lack of CSL didactic materials and vague position of the subject in school curriculum.I believe that my thesis will contribute to better mapping of the whole situation of Czech sign language teaching and its acquisition.
