Arguments and bases of organizations defending animal rights - can we find rapprochement with the protection of nature?
Vohnoutová, Pavla ; Novák, Arnošt (advisor) ; Daněk, Tomáš (referee)
In today's society prevails superior attitude to animals that are seen as mere resources, and this work seeks to highlight this issue . The theoretical part shows where this attitude has its roots and then moves into the context of environmental ethics, while trying to show the views that contradict this position. Practical part is looking for arguments and basis of organizations defending the rights of animals and their possible rapprochement with the protection of nature. The chosen method is to analyze the websites of selected organizations defending the rights of animals, focusing on what the organization published on their websitet and what is missing. The main finding is that the central idea of animal rights organizations is the intrinsic value of animals as beings with a right to a dignified life and with the right to satisfy their natural needs. Protection of the nature on the contrary often prefers to the value of each individual animal the value of nature as a whole. Possible rapprochement with the protection of nature can then be found mainly in areas where there is a distortion of values as both protectino of animals and protection of nature. Key words: animal liberation, animal rights, intrinsic value, protection of animals, protection of nature, organizations defending animal rights
Internal and External Security in the European Union. The changing role of police and military in a post-modern state
Weiss, Tomáš ; Drulák, Petr (advisor) ; Bureš, Oldřich (referee) ; Kříž, Zdeněk (referee)
This thesis analyses the security policy of the European Union and one of its member states. It aims at answering the question, whether internal and external security blurs in the EU, especially the differences between the two major security institutions - military and police. Using the concept of ideal types, an ideal type of a difference between the two bodies is introduced and subsequently tested on reality - on two case studies of the EU and the Czech Republic. There are three partial objectives: to find out if the roles of the military and the police blur at the level of the EU, if the European integration strengthens such blurring in the member states, and if the two bodies blur in a post-modern nation state. The thesis concludes that the real impact of declaratory changes is rather limited. Visible changes are caused by a subordination of external security concerns to prevention of internal ones. All changes are reversible easily, once the security discourse or political choices alter. The military and the police remain two distinct forces with different tasks and work methods.
Object Localisation in 3D Space

Virtual reality systems are nowadays common part of many research institutes due to its low cost and effective visualization of data. They mostly allow visualization and exploration of virtual worlds, but many lack user interaction. In this paper we suggest multi-camera optical system, which allows effective user interaction, thereby increasing immersion of virtual system. This paper describes the calibration process of multiple cameras using point correspondences.
