Effect of temperature and humidity of the environment on reproduction of honeybees (Apis mellifera)
KAŠPARŮ, Miroslav
The dissertation on the influence of temperature and humidity of the environment on the reproduction of the honey bee (Apis mellifera) describes the effect of the observed physical quantities on the entire bee during the growing season. Three habitats were monitored under different conditions. The measuring devices were always located inside and outside one colony of each habitat. In cooperation with colleagues from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, ČVUT in Prague, the physical parameters monitoring was extended by monitoring the sound and weight of the hives - hive assemblies at the site located at the Agricultural Faculty of the University of South Bohemia. The data collection system in beehives was designed as a fully autonomous modular system. Measured data was processed and evaluated by statistical programs. The results showed that the hives observed differ in the number of bee queens found in the growing season and also in the number of frames found. Near-fetal temperatures were measured for correct development of the bee (32 °C to 36 °C). Colonies in the observed periods of 2014, 2015 and 2016 had to actively increase the relative humidity inside the hive in spring and summer. The colony reacts to changes in air temperature by varying intensity of sound. The results revealed the differences between the intensity of bee sounds in different temperature conditions. The highest sound intensity was detected at temperatures below 10 ° C (36.71 W.m-2), the lowest being at temperatures above 29.4 °C (26.25 W.m-2). The correlation coefficients were very low (r = 0.180) to medium (r = 0.463) and the correlation coefficient (r = 0.555) changed with a change in the temperature group. In order to evaluate the optimal conditions for honeybee rearing, the temperature and humidity monitoring can be used. The most suitable temperatures were in the range (29.5-34.3 °C) and temperatures above 34.4 °C. In terms of humidity, the temperature range (20-29.4 °C) and (29.5-34.3 °C) are the most appropriate. Changes in the observed values also affect the queen's bee in the colony. The data obtained from the long-term monitoring of these variables can help us to construct a THI index for bees, which would be a suitable tool to evaluate the optimal conditions for bees.
Fuel properties: Determination of moisture solid fuels
Tretera, Michal ; Musilová, Petra (referee) ; Lisá, Hana (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the determination of moisture content in solid fuels. First part contains classification of solid fuels, proximate analysis of solid biofuels and a research of methods for determination of moisture content in solid biofuels. Description of impacts of the moisture content on fuel is included in the proximate analysis. Second part of the thesis is experimental. Thirteen solid biofuels and one solid recovered fuel were measured to obtain their moisture content. The methods used to determine the moisture content include four different drying methods and a xylene distillation method. For each method there are details of the procedure and a summary of the results.
The influence of moisture on the thermal properties of the gloves
Janíčková, Žaneta ; Toma, Róbert (referee) ; Fišer, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on the assessment of the influence of moisture on the thermal properties of the gloves. The first part of the thesis deals with the research of topics related to the given issue as well as with the derivation of the computational relations needed for evaluation of experimental measurements. The main focus of the work lies on defining the hypotheses and experiments that are used to verify the influence of moisture on the thermal resistance of gloves. As for the experimental part, it describes the individual methods of moistening the gloves from which the moistening through the air humidity and the moistening by the immersion were analysed. To verify the suitability of selected moistening methods, the tested glove samples were measured on the thermal manikin both in a dry and a moistened state under the conditions defined by ČSN EN 511 and ČSN EN ISO 15831 standards. Individual states were repeatedly measured and afterwards the progresses of thermal resistance depending on time were graphically displayed. The thesis also includes analysis of measurement uncertainties as well as evaluation of measurement repeatability. From the obtained results, both the defined hypotheses and theoretical assumptions about the decrease of the thermal resistance of a textile material due to the influence of moisture were confirmed in the conclusion of the diploma thesis.
New directions for waterproofing of underground transport
Čech, Tomáš ; Čížek, Luboš (referee) ; Šťastník, Stanislav (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on the implementation of waterproofing of underground constructions using an LLDPE membrane hinged on anchors. In the future, this method will replace the commonly used waterproofing system in Scandinavia with extruded polyethylene foam. This method of tunnel construction and waterproofing is compared with the NRTM method, often used in Central Europe. The thesis describes the installation of a waterproofing system, especially materials, accessories, welding devices and auxiliary installation equipment. The main focus of the thesis is to verify the reliability of the individual types of welds and to assess the waterproofing system in terms of implementation and environmental demands.

Dependence of flow properties of plastics on water content and technological parameters
Ohnút, Lukáš ; Šilhavý, Miroslav (referee) ; Kandus, Bohumil (advisor)
Bachelor thesis was focused on detection the effect of moisture on the injection process. Two commonly used materials polyamide (PA66) and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) were selected in the first step. The polymers were characterized to moisture analysis to determine the moisture content depending on time and temperature of drying. The experiment was carried out on a provisional injection mold due to non-possession of the mold cavity in the shape of Archimedes spiral. Weight of samples and injection pressure were observed in dependence to the percentage of moisture content in granulate
Analysis of Data to Solve Problems with Humidity in Buildings
Nečasová, Klára ; Korček, Pavol (referee) ; Kořenek, Jan (advisor)
The aim of this work was to solve problems with excessive humidity in buildings using data analysis. The theoretical part of the work deals with impacts of excessive humidity on the health of building occupants and also the condition of the building structure. Data mining methods including classification, prediction, and clustering are described together with model evaluation and selection. The practical part focuses on hardware platform description and measurement scenarios. Key parameters affecting indoor relative humidity are indoor and outdoor temperature and outdoor relative humidity. The long-term measurement of the mentioned parameters was performed using the set of sensors and BeeeOn system. Measured data was used to design a system for event detection related to a humidity change. The approach to air change regulation in the room was based on natural ventilation.
Moisture characteristics of natural sandstone exposures
Slavík, Martin ; Bruthans, Jiří (advisor) ; Tesař, Miroslav (referee) ; Sněhota, Michal (referee)
Moisture in a sandstone body plays a notable role in hydrological, weathering, biological and other processes. Knowledge about presence and movement of moisture within porous medium of natural sandstone exposures is, however, rather limited. Aim of the doctoral thesis was thus to quantify selected moisture characteristics of several natural sandstone exposures in Český ráj (Czech Republic). According to long-term logging, mean annual temperature at studied areas was between 8.5 řC to 11.5 řC, mean annual relative humidity was between 73 % to 85 %. Deforested area was found warmer and drier and amplitude of the values was higher there than at the forested areas. Values of water content (more than 400 measurements) and suction (more than 150 measurements) of the exposures including their spatial-temporal changes were obtained. Mean volumetric water content in zone from the sandstone's surface to 12 cm depth was from 3 % to 10 % and mean suction in depth 2-12 cm was from 2 kPa to more than 130 kPa. Using uranine powder coloring, spatial distribution of moisture near the sandstone's surface was visualized repeatedly for the first time. The coloring divided the surficial area of the sandstone into capillary (wet) and diffusion (dry) zone. The sharp transition between the two zones was represented by...
