The Špulíř Chapel at the decanal durch in Jindřichův Hradec. Its building history and iconography of the sculptural decoration

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the so-called " Špulířská chapel at the Dean's Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Jindřichův Hradec. The bachelor thesis will focus on the architectural and iconographic aspect of the building, especially the theme of the circled vault and unusual sculptural decoration. In the context of the vault, it summarizes the historical and cultural context of the Jindřichův Hradec environment at the end of the 15th century with the town centers of Upper and Lower Austria.
The Subsidiary Churches of Roman Catholic Parish Říčany near Prague

The diploma thesis The Subsidiary Churches of Roman Catholic Parish Říčany u Prahy deals with churches, which currently belongs to the Říčany`s parish, and freely continues in the bachelor thesis The Church of St Peter and St Paul in Říčany. At the beginning, history of the parish is briefly introduced. The thesis is divided into chapters according to individual churches. The development of architecture, chronological description of the interior painting and sculptural decoration and liturgical applied arts, which are located in particular churches, follow after a historical introduction. The churches' most significant treasures include the original rotunda in Kostelec u Křížků, gothic frescoes in Olešky and Kostelec, the painting of Archangel Raphael with young Tobias by Karel Škréta in Kostelec, baroque altar in Tehov a classical tombstone of archbishop Salm-Salm in Kamenice. The biggest contribution of this thesis is the detailed summary, finding of analogies (particularly similarity of gothic presbyteries in Otice and Kunice, baroque reconstruction of churches in Tehov and Kolovraty and baroque altars in Kostelec u Křížků and Kamenice), dating of baroque frescoes in the presbytery of church in Kostelec, finding of provenance of altar in Tehov and elaborating of history of smaller villages (especially of...
Fundamental types of decorative process in medieval books

1 Abstract The object of this bachelor thesis is a summary and comparison of fundamental written sources and literature to the technological process of decorations in medieval books. Besides pen drawings, levitated, tempera and gouache drawings thesis focus on different kinds of gilding and using gold accessories (for example from adding golden dust to some kinds of colours through punching hallmarks on golden details, to drawing on gilded background). By each kind of method and process, there is an indication of their progress and evolution in case of book painting is illustratively documented by concrete examples of some part of manuscripts. The thesis also includes an overview and synthesis of manuscript production in the Bohemia.

1 The Pyramid Complex of Djedkare-Isesi at South Saqqara and its Decorative Program Mohamed Megahed Abstract The present thesis aims to publish pyramid complex of King Djedkare and its decorative program for the first time. The rule of King Djedkare was very significant and many important changes happened in the Egyptian state during his time. He is known to have reorganized the royal mortuary cults of his predecessors in Abusir; the remains of the papyrus archives discovered in three mortuary temples in Abusir are to a great extent related to this reorganization, as most of the preserved papyrus fragments come from the time of this king. Besides the other available evidence from his reign, numerous finds were discovered in the king's pyramid complex, which have, however, not been published until now. These include fragments of relief decoration and the present study thus can help us better understand and interpret the development of royal relief at the end of the Fifth Dynasty. Manufacture and decoration of bone and antler tools in the early Middle Ages

The present thesis maps the distribution of bone and antler industry luxury items from early middle ages in our area. The work includes catalogue and description of these items. The subsequent chapters focus on the technology of manufacture and embellishment, followed by possibilities of social interpretation based on uncovered items and some specific issues such as the existence of manufactories in Czech area, an outline of Polish analogies and unusual embellishment with figural motives.
St. Wenceslas Church in Žamberk

Diploma thesis "St. Wenceslas Church in Žamberk" discusses the church monographically. Initially, it briefly introduces the city, its origin, estate owners and then chronologically from art-historical terms the most important foundations of building Bubnů of Litic. Afterwards we focus our attention on the church, its history and construction, parish building, description, and especially the valuable furniture. In this part the thesis deals with baroque altars and particularly the main altar canvas Assassination of St. Wenceslas by Francesco Trevisani. Attention is focused on the preliminary image, possible models and analogies with the older author's creations. Later, in order for the work to be complete, the focus goes shortly to the painted decorations of the church. Subsequently, the cemetery chapel, its historical development, baroque altars and the painted decorations as well. Finally, work presents in context the church builder and painters who created high quality altar canvases.
St. Mary Magdalene Church in Bartošovice in Orlice Mountains

Bachelor thesis "St. Mary Magdalene Church in Bartošovice in Orlické Mountains" first of all briefly deals with the historical demarcation and colonization of Orlické Mountains and foothills with regard to the upper reaches of Wild Orlice, where there are Bartošovice in Orlické Mountains. Subsequently, the work deals with the origin and history of the village, with a focus to the owner of the dominion. In next part the attention goes to the historical and architectural development of the Church and then to its interior decoration, where thesis describes in details the baroque inventory, especially the side frame altars with medallions. Further deals with baroque sculptures in foothills and its most important leaders, whose works are characteristic for artistic creation this area. The last part for the comparison states and describes other found examples of baroque frame altars with medallions, deals with their chronological arrangement and integration to the created thematic groups.

Greek and Roman traditions in Architecture of Chateau Kačina

The subject of this paper is the study of history of the Kačina Chateau from the point of view of its inspiration from the art and architecture of the ancient world. The introductory chapters were dedicated to the general atmosphere of the time in which the castle was designed and built, the general ideas of the Enlightenment, and also to its relations to Count Chotek. There is an unresolved problem whether its relations to Classical antiquity monuments existed directly, or if they were mediated by other sources. While working on the theme it turned out that the foundation of Kačina Chateau derived from earlier models that were developed during centuries. The work of Marcus Vitruvius Pollio was of substantial importance for all Classicist architecture and especially the architects of the Renaissance knew it very well and used it frequently. For the architecture of Kačina Chateau the most important stimuli were those of Andreas Palladio who transformed earlier patterns according to his own artistic views. One of the following chapters concentrates on the personality of the owner of the estate, the Count Jan Rudolf Chotek, and then on the architects and builders of the castle.
